Easily Entertained!

Keeping this post short and sweet!

These two beauties

arrived in our mailbox this week.

MacKenzie-Childs Summer Catalog

and Beekman 1802 Summer Almanac.

The Beekman 1802 brand is new to me, but they

recently partnered with MacKenzie-Childs

to offer a great Flower Market soap and lotion set

in a Courtly Check container.

I'm a new fan ~ more to come in a future post!

As much as I enjoy reading blogs and

viewing my Instagram feed,

I rather enjoy the simple pleasure of quiet time

in a favorite rocker on our upstairs porch.

It's my escape for relaxing with a

good book or favorite publications.

I feel as if I'm up in the trees above the garden.

Yes, I'm easily entertained!

I fixed myself a little afternoon snack.

You all know I have a sweet tooth!

With cupcakes on my mind from my last post,

I couldn't resist one of these darling flower bouquet

delights from Whole Foods Bakery.

Of course I had to pop it into one of my

Courtly Check cup cake enhancers.

I like to eat a cupcake with a fork,

and these little cup cake holders make it oh so easy!

Look at the darling detail

on these little cakes!

The Language and Sentiment of Flowers available here on Amazon.

According to the Language of Flowers,

Violets suggest a "pledge of faithfulness" and

say, "you occupy my thoughts."

Nothing could be truer when it comes to my favorite brand!

MacKenzie-Childs stole my heart almost 30 years ago,

and I'm still adding their whimsical pieces to our home.

I'll be placing an order tonight!

Free shipping with no minimum through June 14, 2017.

What a deal!

The summer we married, my husband was in graduate school, and I was employed as a teacher. We took a portion of our savings that summer and purchased a sailboat. We christened our Catalina 22, “Hyacinths For The Soul” after Saadi’s poem. Our "Hyacinths" provided years of pleasure.

  2. I've never heard of either publications and I'm really interested, especially the Beekman 1802 as I'm not a collector of MC. Can you share where you found it?

I don't blame you for wanting to spend time in your beautiful garden! It is outstanding. That cupcake looks mouthwatering, I didn't know Whole Foods had such a great bakery.

    Enjoy your summer days, Sarah!

  3. Good for you, being easily entertained, means you are good person with imagination. Beautiful garden. Sounds like your own piece of heaven being on upstairs balcony, how I envy you. Enjoy as much as you can, life is too short.
How does a person get to have those catalogs sent to them?, would love them. Always loved McKenzie Childs years ago and had read about Beekman boys way to make money, quite industrious fellows. Don't remember what magazine they used to be featured in monthly. It's so nice you are still fan of McKenzie Childs. Have wonderful week

  5. Sarah, your post is filled with everything I enjoy too. I live less than 45 minutes from the Beekman 1802 and Josh and Brent are so friendly and down to earth. I hope you will get them to meet them on your next trip to New York :-)

  7. What a beautiful cupcake - too pretty to eat! I love that corner, Sarah, and detail within. Relaxing with a stack of magazines is one of my favorite things to do after the garden gets going, and it looks like you've got a bird's eye view of beauty. That garden is so gorgeous!

  8. Such a beautiful place to sit above your always gorgeous garden Sarah - and that really is a beautifully decorated cupcake - I'll be looking for them in my local Whole Foods! I've not heard of these publications - must say though I'm ready for some new/different ones because other than the British Country Living (I subscribe) I really don't find anything out of the ordinary on the magazine stands these days.

Will look forward to seeing the pretty new things you order for your collection!
Happy week dear friend - Mary

  10. The MC catalog looks intriguing. I noticed an article about Blogger's Best Tips. I'm almost afraid to order the catalog for fear I would order and I have no more room for any more dishes. I'll just have to enjoy viewing yours and your wonderful styling.

  16. I used to watch the Beekman's when they had a show on cable and I loved every minute of it with all those amazing goats. I am so glad that their business took off. I will have to send away for their book.

The cupcake looks to good to eat. Yum yum, I'm with you, except have to watch my sugar intake.

    Have a great week Sarah.

    Hugs,
    Mary

  19. Too pretty to eat? Maybe, but it looks delicious especially in the M-C cupcake holder - pretty and practical. You have certainly found a sweet spot for your lazy afternoon sojourns, up in the treetops but just steps away from your beautiful home.
How I enjoyed this virtual return visit today.
    Hope your week is amazing.

  20. I love your view from your upstairs porch, Sarah. Your yard looks like my favorite part of the Dallas Arboretum. Enjoying that almost too pretty to eat cupcake looks like a perfect afternoon treat. Congratulations to Chris!
    P. S. I love your glasses!!!

  21. My catalogs are arriving daily, MC is here and I'm devouring it! You've set such a lovely scape to enjoy reading your catalogs and your view is stunning. Wish I'd started collecting when I first discovered MC but I do enjoy having a few pieces now. Sorry I'm late but we've been on the road.....Enjoy your day.......

  22. Well, of course you were thrilled with these catalogues! Two amazing ones, I might add. We visited the Beekman 1802 store in Sharon Springs last March. (I've also heard there is the farm, but we were there when it was snowy!). And a friend has sent me a gift package with the catsups, mustards, etc. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a special gift for someone! So, what I wonder if just how many orders you have placed?!

  23. I need to go sign up for the MC catalog! How fun!

  24. Hi Sarah, I'm easily entertained as well. I love sitting out under the pergola with a magazine in hand. I saw a Mackenzi Childs store in Carmel. I didn't go inside, but I took a picture from the outside for you. :) Thanks for sharing with SYC.
    hugs,
    Jann

  25. Good afternoon Sarah, firstly can I say, your garden is stunning. It reminds me of a Mediterranean garden, beautiful green planting with plenty of shade provided by the trees. It must be a joy to walk around.
Secondly, is your rocking chair a Brentwood? It so reminds me of the 1960s Brentwood rocking chair. It is such an iconic design.
Living in England I am not familiar with MacKenzie Childs, I shall have to look the brand up on the internet.
I have to tell you Sarah, I also love reading a magazine, especially with a cup of coffee and a fabulous cup cake.
Some things in life are just perfect.
    Have a lovely weekend.
    Best Wishes to you.
    Daphne
