Fine Feathered Friends ~ Thanksgiving Tablescape Hop

Welcome, November!
Time to honor some fine feathered friends.

I'm happy to join Rita and 16 talented tabletop stylists today for the
2024 Thanksgiving Tablescape Blog Hop.
Thank you, Rita @ Panoply, for your careful planning and organization for these wonderful hops that inspire so many of us.

Those who follow along with Monday Morning Blooms might recall this October arrangement made with a bouquet of huge mop-head
hydrangeas that were gifted to me on September 28th in
remembrance of the anniversary of Monnie's passing.

The following day, I joined the group for Rita's
Halloween Tablescape Blog Hop here
and transitioned the flowers to the buffet leaving
a low centerpiece of a pumpkin patch.

Fast forward to today, November 5th, 39 days after first receiving the hydrangeas, and here they are repurposed to the table again.
This time as a low centerpiece on a tray.
No need for a vase of water!

You can see the hydrangeas are just as beautiful in their
naturally dried state as when they were delivered fresh.
The painted ruscus stems are also still just as pretty.
I did buy fresh magnolia leaves and also added in some seeded eucalyptus and sprigs of bittersweet for a touch of orange.

Across the room on the buffet, you'll find the MKC pumpkins again
and some MKC turkeys that came to roost here in recent years.
The pumpkins are a mix of patterns added over the course of years.
I'm one who enjoys the thrill of the hunt and the joyful
spontaneity of adding pieces to my collections slowly.

The MKC turkey planter makes a nice statement at 14" tall.
It came with this faux arrangement which I intended to replace
with fresh flowers.  I decided to leave well enough alone for now.
I like the turkey's simplicity with its trademark tail feathers.

At the opposite end of the buffet is another MKC container.
I repurposed my pair of Woodland Pillar Candle Holders as vases.
The faux wood carved leaves and acorns that encircle each base give an autumnal feel, perfect to display Haley's Comit Tulips with their brilliant yellow and red/orange flames.  What a beautiful statement!

The beautiful Louis Sherry chocolates tin
was from Williams-Sonoma in 2020.
These chocolates are the best, and the decorative tins a bonus.
The little ceramic MKC turkey is for salt, but mine holds candy.

I'm excited to feature these gorgeous Copeland Spode India Tree plates, a thoughtful gift from my friend, Roxy, who recently
flew in from Carmel, CA for a repeat Texas visit.

It's difficult to get a good image without glare, but the glistening gold
details and delicately scalloped edges on these plates are stunning.
Copeland Spode India Tree, made in England,
was a popular pattern the latter half of the19th century.
The striking orange/rust color is perfect for fall.  This historical design was inspired by an early textile from India.  The crooked, coral like branches of a leafy, flowering tree gives an exotic feel.

Mark On Underside

When Roxy was here, we pulled out dishes and played with various combinations.  We liked the look of paring these antique plates with the the modern feel of Courtly Check rimmed in gold and the octagonal chargers from the MacLachlan Collection that features various scenes from the MacKenzie-Childs farm in Aurora, NY.
The Williams-Sonoma dinner plates in Plymouth Gate Rim lend a contemporary feel with their geometric border while giving a nod back to 18th century transfer ware and the Copeland Spode plates.
It all reflects sophistication without looking too formal.

I added the MKC rust linen napkins edged in a black and white trim and used a selection of my French antique sterling napkin rings.

All the colors complement each other nicely.

The napkin rings add a little touch of formality.
Roxy, well versed in sterling silver,
shared that the interlocking SA monogram
is considered a Duogram, or puzzle monogram.
Love learning something new!

Not as easy to see in the photo glare of the silver, but
Monnie's MA is also classically interlocked, thus a Duogram.

I only have four of these elegant Arte Italica Medici Amber stems,
two are water and two wine. They are no longer offered in this color,
but I really wanted to add them to this table for an added
touch of elegance, so I've mixed sizes here.

I also added little vintage glass ink bottles
filled with a few straw flowers at each place setting.

They just add another special little touch.

This vintage pair of MKC Torquay salt and pepper
shakers in Kelp and Urchin fit right in.

This pair of squirrel salt and pepper
shakers add that touch of whimsy.

Pick a spot and have a seat at the table.

If you missed my Monday Morning Blooms post yesterday,
You can find it here.  Pop on over for lots of blooming
flowers, rafters of feathered friends, and pecan pie.

Image from Target
Speaking of my feathered friends, did you notice there
is a new gobbler who joined my "gang" of turkeys?
Yes, one of these handsome fellows flew in to roost here.

The very talented John Derian collaborated with Target
again this year for another amazing Thanksgiving collection.
I couldn't resist bringing home this fellow
and a few other pieces in this year's collection.
Stay tuned for another Thanksgiving themed
tablescape to be shared soon.

You might remember this guy from
John Derian's Target Collaboration last year.
The two are different in colors and bead work.
I'm very impressed with the quality and artistic bead work.

You can read more details about last year's collaboration
on my Thanksgiving Tablescape, A Tribute to Tom Turkey  here.

The summer we married, my husband was in graduate school, and I was employed as a teacher. We took a portion of our savings that summer and purchased a sailboat. We christened our Catalina 22, “Hyacinths For The Soul” after Saadi’s poem. Our "Hyacinths" provided years of pleasure.

  1. Sarah, I’ve died and gone to turkey-pumpkin-flower heaven! So much eye candy to admire…and look at that gorgeous plate stack with the fluted, scalloped and gilded plate edges. The Copeland Spode India Tree is such a thoughtful gift from your friend and I have French antique sterling napkin ring envy too…swoon! Such a treat to visit you this morning. You make me regret not adding a John Derian turkey pillow to my rafter. 😉 As always, it’s a treat to have a virtual seat at the table. Happy Tuesday. 🦃🧡
