Soups On!
I had overnight guests recently when my precious
cousins were in town to help an elderly aunt.
Our table had been set for the upcoming
Valentine's Day Tablescape Hop
which can be found here.
It was an easy transformation!
I simply traded the Courtly Check chargers
for Rosy Check and added a bowl for soup.
The bowls were a local thrift store find several months ago.
They are vintage MKC enamel ware in the Bathing Hut pattern.
I scored six of these with 2 lids.
I used these fluted Granny Smith Lollipop
salad plates for our side salads.
Then I used the pink stripe Bathing Hut bowls atop scalloped dinner plates in Brighton Pavilion from the Taylor Series produced long ago.
The Valentine's table was set either end for two,
so I simply added a third place setting on the side.
I pulled in one of my Arte Italica Crown Linen Designs
ruffled velvet placemats in a yummy rose color.
Pewter napkin rings are also Arte Italica and flatware is
Black Tie, retired ceramic MKC flatware in Courtly Check.
Glitter Ville snowmen mugs.
for a cute pink and green plaid.
A wooden heart bowl holds yummy dinner rolls, and the fresh butter sits on a small MacKenzie-Childs Rose Cottage scalloped dish.
A bottle of Pessimist
red wine is ready to pour.
I served a delicious cheese soup
from a local restaurant.
Dessert was creme brûlée served in a martini glass placed within a darling MKC Katey McFarlan Special Edition berry bowl from 2023.
Use what you have. Use the good stuff!
Treat your guests to fun, whimsical table settings.

The summer we married, my husband was in graduate school, and I was employed as a teacher. We took a portion of our savings that summer and purchased a sailboat. We christened our Catalina 22, “Hyacinths For The Soul” after Saadi’s poem. Our "Hyacinths" provided years of pleasure.

Welcome, I'm Sarah

The summer we married, my husband was in graduate school, and I was employed as a teacher. We took a portion of our savings that summer and purchased a sailboat. We christened our Catalina 22, “Hyacinths For The Soul” after Saadi’s poem. Our "Hyacinths" provided years of pleasure. We continue to cherish the extras of life as food for our souls.

Please set an extra place for me! I want to eat at that lovely table and enjoy your company. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteEverything looks beautiful - love all your serving dishes. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely table Sarah with beautiful MKC pieces. Your cousins I am sure were quite impressed with the table and soup. The Glitterville mugs are adorable and so adorable. So many special touches. I would gladly take a seat.
ReplyDeleteOh Sarah, I can envision your cousins having a seat at this fun table. A lovely table with whimsy and fun!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you are blogging more often, Sarah. It's always such a treat to visit here. I know the cousin gathering was a special one. As special as your table! (The soup looks great!)
ReplyDeleteOh I'm so late doing everything lately! I couldn't not let you know this is one of my favorite settings Sarah. You do have the best luck when you shop your thrift shop, wow what finds. The vintage enamel ware is perfectly mixed with all of your beautiful vintage MC's. You are the master at mixing and blending patterns and color in your settings. I'm sure you and your cousins had a cozy evening gathered around this beautiful table.....
