For me, the pleasures of white in one's garden are endless.

A white garden dances in daylight

and shimmers in the moonlight.

My garden is not without color, but it's the whites that provide the magical splendor that keep me adding more.

The summer we married, my husband was in graduate school, and I was employed as a teacher. We took a portion of our savings that summer and purchased a sailboat. We christened our Catalina 22, “Hyacinths For The Soul” after Saadi’s poem. Our "Hyacinths" provided years of pleasure.

  4. Hello Sarah,
beautiful post! I love white in the garden especially for darker corners or in front of darkleaved shrubs and trees. Gives always a little more light. The white blossoms show so much their structure and delicacy. They look shimmering like satin or silk.
    Best greetings, Johanna

  11. Sarah, White in the garden is breathtaking, the pure non color of white against the garden greens, the contrast, always amazing. I've always gone for the color, but lately I have found myself adding more white. Thanks for sharing your amazing garden.
    Hope your day is fabulous......

  28. White flowers are, by far, my favorite.
    These are so so lovely.
I just today bought 3 pots of white flowers to plant. The names I can;t think of right now (I am so not a gardener) but they are shade lovers. I have a small little flower garden close to our big pecan tree that stays in shade most of the day. I am trying to add more and more whites.:)
Oh, and I have 2 more little cupcakes if you want to stop by for a snack. :)))

  44. Oh I so love your whites Sarah! They are so soothing~ Our lake yard is small, so white blooms keep it from looking so chaotic. Have you ever planted moon vine? I used to plant some from seed & enjoy watching them creep up a trellis and enjoy the show as they opened :-)
