It's the 8th Annual
Mad Tea Party
with Vanessa @ A Fanciful Twist
Hooray, Hooray!
Come along and join the fun.
It's the 150th Anniversary of Lewis Carroll's
ALICE'S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND.
Tea is ready and
just so you know, I checked.
There wasn't one dormouse in the tea pots!
Come along, please.
Don't be late!
Oh, what a perfectly
mad party!
Mad about sweets, don't you know!
Yes, Alice is here,
and so is the Mad Hatter.
The White Rabbit, too.
But, where is that grinning cat?
Ahh, there he is!
I knew he wouldn't miss this party.
Oh, look!
Even the characters in
Robert Sabuda's edition popped-up
for this party.
Help yourself
to some sweet treats.
You can lounge on the chaise
and take it all in.
Go ahead and indulge yourself.
It is the 150th anniversary!
What's this?
Well, it is summer in Texas you know, so
you might find it a bit too warm for a cup of hot tea.
What about an icy cold cherry limeade?
It is a Mad Party after all!
Before you leave, tell me about
your favorite Wonderland character.
Everyone who leaves a comment with
an email link will be entered in my
Celebrating 150 Years of Alice Giveaway.
It's a surprise, but you can be certain
it will be something Alice.
Winner announced July 25, 2015.
Click here if you missed this post on the exceptional
exhibit celebrating the 150th anniversary of Lewis Carroll's
ALICE'S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND.

total fun and enjoyment, thank you!!!
ReplyDeleteLovely fun post Sarah. Cakes look delicious.
ReplyDeleteSarah, My pinkie's at the ready, hold the Earl Grey and pour me some Dublin Cherry Limeade too please! Served on your Courtly Check tray and with your cake plate too! I love your Alice needlepoint characters and fun pop up ones too! Your colorful macarons under your cloche are perfect for your mad tea party. My favorite character has to be the Cheshire Cat: “We’re all mad here.” :)
ReplyDeleteHmm. Hard to choose a favorite, but I find myself quoting that rabbit a lot....Maryanne! Maryanne!!
ReplyDeleteA very nice party indeed. Thanks for the treats. It was wonderful.

ReplyDeleteOh what a fun and double-delightful visit for both Pink Saturday AND the Mad Tea Party, both of which I love :). My fave character in the book is Alice but in an old movie once watched, I also loved the White Knight who kept falling off his horse :) Happy Tea Party-ing and Pink Saturday-ing.

ReplyDelete~♥Carmen♥~
Dearest Sarah,
ReplyDeleteThat was quite a job you did by putting this together, almost like a story book!
I had no idea you also had a Dublin in Texas. We live in Dublin, GA...
Sending you hugs and blessings for a happy Sunday.
Mariette
What a darling tea party you have put together! LOVE it... CHEERS. -xo
ReplyDeleteHow fun Sarah!! I just love your edition of Alice in Wonderland with the hot pink cover! Too fun!

This is adorable! I always thought the Chesire Cat was a fun character!
ReplyDeleteSarah, I'd love to try some Dublin Cherry Limeade sitting in my Adirondack chair today! Served on a Courtly Check tray! My favorite character is the Cheshire Cat and I checked out that delightful book on Amazon. I would be happy to have it in my collection.
ReplyDeleteYour mad tea party is simply delightful Sarah. I love all the characters in this Lewis Carroll book, and I adore the pop-up scene. Your collection of all things "Alice" are so adorable. Such sweet little tea sets and pots and the goodies I would certainly have to try! You are right, it is so hot here I would love a cold Texas limeade! Great party!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun summer post! My son is getting married next weekend so in between work and preparations it was fun to take a break and enjoy the party!
ReplyDeleteSorry I'm late, I'm late for this very important date but I'm grinning like a Cheshire Cat, my favourite character to be here! So lovely to find fellow Alice fans across the globe, hope you've had as much fun as I've had at this Mad Tea Party!
ReplyDeleteWren x
You had me at red polka-dotted tea set! What a fun beauty! ♥
ReplyDeleteHappy Mad Tea Party.
The cherry limeade is perfectly matched for this party! I am absolutely taken by the raspberry eclair!
ReplyDeleteMerry unbIrThdAy! How to choose a favorite character, I have so many. I do love the mystery of the Cheshire Cat. And I am sure the Red Queen is terribly misunderstood. I am waiting for the Knave to have his revenge.

Oh, what a delightful tea party! I am in love with the red polka-dotted tea set and all of the Alice goodies! Your party is beautifully arranged. Please pass me a bottle of Cherry Limeade, as it's quite hot here in West Texas, too. Let's see, I think my favorite characters this week are Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. Now, of course, it may change next week! Thank you for stopping by for tea at my party, too!
ReplyDeleteGod bless and Happy Unbirthday to you,
Sherry - Sherry's Cabin
Absolutely wonderful in every way, loooove your mad tea treasures, oh my! And your Mackenzie Childs' tote is beyond fab. Gorgeous vignettes and display, so wonderful, truly!! Thank you so much for sharing, just lovely beyond. Happiest mad tea party wishes <3, Vanessa
ReplyDeleteSarah, I'm so glad there is no dormouse in the teapot as it would make the tea quite undrinkable! Thank you for checking on that! And speaking of drinks I would love to try some cherry limeade. I've never heard of it but it sounds delicious, and I'll take a bite of the raspberry and custard dessert too! The day of this mad tea party and "unbirthday" for the characters really was my hubby's birthday so I don't know if he would have been invited or not! Who is my favorite character? I think the Cheshire Cat with his wide grin, but I also love the White Rabbit for some reason. Maybe because he seems so stressed and in need of a break. When I was in 7th grade my cousin and I dressed as Tweedledee and Tweedledum for Halloween and we won the grand prize. Still, they scare me a bit. I enjoyed your tea party so much!
ReplyDeleteLinda
What an adorable tea party! Love, love, love it! Mimi xxx

ReplyDeleteHi Sarah,
ReplyDeleteWhat a collection you're showing us today! Thanks for playing today.
Happy Blue Monday!
Sarah,
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so beautiful and festive! My favorite character is the Chesire Cat.. I'll pass on the tea and have some of that cherry limeade; it's hot here too in Pennsylvania. I love the black and white checkered bag with the bright green trim. I just like over the weekend painted my office in the green and bought black and white checkered chairs. Love the colors
Oh, dear...I'm late...I'm late....
ReplyDeletewhat a delightful party you are having here. So many good treats to eat..things to see...
thank you for this magical moment...:)
hugs
Sorry I'm late. There are just so many parties everywhere! But I think yours is the most colorful and sweetest of the parties I've been to. (Well, maybe not more than Vanessa's, but she is the maddest of all of us, so of course her glittery confections are the absolute best!) I'm hoping everyone will turn their head for a moment, because I really want to take that creme filled, lined with raspberries Long John dessert. I'd really like to sample that cheery limeade, too! It is so difficult to choose a favorite character. But if I must, I think I'll chose the Cheshire Cat. I would love to be able to disappear like that! Think of the madness of it all! :-)
ReplyDeleteOh everything is just adorable! Love it ;)
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!

What a party!! Love all your pics and especially like the lovely CC pedestal platter - (to die for!!) My eyes lit up when I saw that dessert - YUM!! and the cherry limeade also sounds delicious!! I don't think I have ever seen that. My fav character would have to be the Cheshire Cat!
ReplyDeleteBest book ever! I love all your bits and pieces, vintage and cross-stitched, but that litte Alice teapot is special, what a darling find.
ReplyDeleteAmalia

A mad tea party?? How fun! May I bring some treats? As for my favorite character, why it would have to be Alice :) Or maybe it's the Chesire Cat. Hmmmmm
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adored this post! For as long as I can remember, this was my favorite book and the Cheshire cat my favorite character. Something about his attitude... I now have my children trained to point out the "Cheshire smile" when the moon is just a sliver in the sky. I hosted several wonderfully extravagant parties in my bakery years ago with Wonderland and Mad Tea Party themes and probably enjoyed them even more than the guests. This party was such a treat. Thanks for sharing - Cheers Bridget @ ABitofVintage.com
ReplyDeleteI want to come to your party!! Love your books, the food, and the tapestry characters!! If you go back to my blog about the pop up book name I left a reply there as to the name of the pop up book. It was my daughters when she was little. take care, Darlene
ReplyDeleteWOW! What an amazing set up! Thank you so much for letting me peek in on your tea party.... the colors are gorgeous. I can tell that you are talented at staging/decorating! Eye candy! Thanks, also, for stopping by Stringtown Home to visit my tea party.
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a great day!

ReplyDeleteHi Sarah, I have planned to do a Mad Hatter table for a long time. I have collected keys, crowns, etc, but I just haven't done it yet. You have a fab collection of all thing Wunderland! I love the needlepoint characters! So cute. Dianne
ReplyDeleteOh wow, this is amazing! The best Mad Hatter tea Party I've ever seen!!! I don't have any of your gorgeous and fun dishes to even think of! My grandgirls would be crazy about it.

ReplyDeleteAlice is my favorite character and always has been. The illustration you show with her long neck are the illustrations in my childhood book. They all fascinated me. Jean@kwe.net is my email.
ReplyDeleteoh my, what a mad selection of sweets and treats! I will have one or three of those rainbow macarons under the dome Sarah, washed down with some cherry limeade please! I love love love your needlepoint characters, and the whole scene is incredibly delightful and full of tempting fun!
ReplyDeleteJenna
Wonderful, wonderful visuals - all! Oh my, choosing a favorite character is SO hard! When I was in the ballet, we performed Alice in Wonderland and my role was the Dormouse - a fun role, but so NOT my persona (I'm more like the March Hare, lol). I loved the Queen of Hearts for her attitude ("Off with their heads!"). What a fun party and celebration. Thank you for sharing with us all!
ReplyDeleteI don't know how I missed this posts..How pretty are your teapot and cup and wee book etc?
ReplyDeleteI have glanced at a few other parties and I love them all.
To be a child again.
I just bought a Secret Garden pop up book..as I never grow up:)
Your needlepoint characters♥
This post is quintessentially you.
Dear Sarah, how did I miss this party? What a madcap affair it was, so many sweet treats to eat and drink and pretty things to pick up and admire.. It's no wonder that my favourite character, the Duchess's Cheshire cat couldn't stop grinning.
ReplyDeleteMaggie x
Oh my goodness, Sarah, how did I miss this post??? It is just too fun with so much to enjoy at your party. Yes pleas, I'd love some Dublin cherry limeade to wash down the serving of cream filled raspberry pastry. Yum!!!! Now, while I wipe my mouth, I will tell you my favorite character...it has to be the Cheshire Cat. I loved attending your tea party!!
ReplyDeleteLate to the party, sorry Sara - have been getting back into stride slowly after the UK trip! The heat gets to me and I spend time fighting off mosquitoes here - there were still none in England that I could see - I may have to move!
ReplyDeleteWonderful party post - love anything Alice, especially those paper cut-out figures. Love the White Rabbit - especially on the teapot lid, and the stitched version (all of which are lovely).
Hugs - Mary
What a delightful tea party theme! My daughter loved the Alice in Wonderland book and movie when she was young. I recently bought the pop up book version for her to share with her daughter. My favorite character has alwasy been the Cheshire Cat and his big smile!

ReplyDeleteSarah, so fun!! I love your needlepoint characters and the glass cupcakes are darling. And oh my, does that dessert ever look delicious! My daughter gave me a bottle of that cherry limeade in a basket filled with everything cherry for Mothers Day. She knows my love for anything cherry.

This is truly an amazing post on Fairy Tea Party. I loved reading it and photographs you have shared are pretty too. At one of outdoor party venues I will host my daughter’s mermaid themed party and currently arranging things for it.
