I love Downton Abbey, but we don't have cable so I have to buy it on iTunes. I have to check into when it is available.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love those clock plates.
That was a lovely gift to receive, Sarah, I too am enjoying Downton produce courtesy of a dear friend!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the series, we watched the Christmas special last week and now have to wait 9 months for series 6 in September.........
I'm so glad the new season began last night. What a thoughtful gift.
ReplyDeleteYes, I watched last night, Sarah, and was eagerly waiting for season five to begin. I love your plates and I have the World Market bag, only I got mine last year. Hope you enjoyed the show.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lucky little duck:)We don't have a WM here.
ReplyDeleteLove the bag and mugs/cups..what a thoughtful friend..:)
My son-in-law thought ofe me too in this way.
It was good last night and for some reason I had tears when you know who saved you know who:)(Just in case someone has taped it..:))
Thanks for tea..it was delightful..
Such a fabulous gift, perfect for you my dear Sarah.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, we watched it - calendar had been marked, notes stuck all over the house to remind us of the time etc. Do you you have to do that?
Loved it - SO glad so many of the cast are still going strong - and that ever wonderful Dame Maggie just turned 80 - amazing!
I also enjoyed the 'Manners' program following - did you see that? Hope so as Alastair shared so much about the table settings etc. What an immense job filming a period piece like DA - and Highclere is such a perfect location. I loved seeing the actors discussing their personal difficulties getting into their respective 'character' - no mean feat being an actor of this calibre - they are all excellent.
Happy first week of January - we have sunshine this morning and it's just perfect.
Hugs - Mary
Oh I love this. What a thoughtful and fun gift to receive. The DA mugs are my favorite. I loved last night's episode. Great start to Season 5. The special on Manners of DA was also great to watch. So much attention to the historical details. I just can't get enough.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a blessed 2015.
Janet
Sarah,
ReplyDeleteI agree, dear friend, a very thoughtful gift, indeed!!!
"Mr. Ed" and I had Cranberry Orange Muffins and tea with our premier viewing of Season Five!!!
I have the sweetest friend whom shares a December birth month.
To celebrate our birthdays, I treated her to lunch and gave some Downton Abbey Tea.
In her excitement she screamed aloud. . .too, too funny!!!
Oh, yes. . .I addicted!
Fondly,
Pat
I am one of the few people on the planet who is not a DA fan. Just never got into it. That was a sweet gift though, I could go for some hot tea, it is freezing here!!! Love the clock plates too!!!
ReplyDeleteVisiting from the Dedicated House, love your MacKenzie-Childs urn and your floral arrangement is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI have watched one or two seasons of DA and enjoyed it, but I think that Boardwalk Empire may have been on at the same time and I was out voted.
Happy Monday-
Jemma
Sarah I love the plates and the teapot! I have a teapot just like that. I think it is the prettiest one I own! Hope your New Year is off to a great start!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Sherry
My hubs and I are huge fans, but we haven't watched the premier yet. We will probably watch it tonight or tomorrow night. I have no doubt it will suck us right in just the like the 4 previous seasons. What a sweet gift from your friend and the time it took to stand in line to get them for you. Dianne
ReplyDeleteYes watch with a friend over tea. I am envying those plates! They are fab!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun & what a thoughtful gift! I would have stood in line, too, if I had known about it!
ReplyDeleteI made teapot & teacup shaped cookies to go with our tea & DA. I am hopelessly hooked on the show, like a million other viewers. Don't you just LOVE Maggie Smith? I've heard it said that they will never remove her from the show. If she gets to where she can't be there in person, they intend to just send her off on holiday, somewhere warm & sunny. She truly makes the show! Do you think Anna Bates is pregnant???? Wanna bet?!
Sarah,
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, I am addicted and loved the first episode of Season 5. The times-are-a-changing at Downton Abbey. I cannot imagine living through such radical changes in a society as those that occurred during the years of this series. Your clock dishes and Downton Abbey tea were a perfect way to celebrate the new season. I would love to have shared your scones, jam, berries, and clotted cream.
Judith
I love those clock plates Sarah! What a nice friend you've got. And I'm sorry to say I might be the only one around who doesn't watch the show. :(
ReplyDeleteWishing you a wonderfully healthy and happy 2015--you deserve it!
hugs,
Leslie
Yes, we love Downton Abbey at our house. Seeing the program come back with Season 5 is like welcoming an old friend. I love all your fabulous DA "goodies" - are the lovely black and white clock plates also from the Cost Plus Import Store? I've never seen any like them, anywhere. Enjoy the programs - this should keep us going until Valentine's Day at least! Something to look forward to! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHow fun Sarah! Yes I watched the first episode of this season with eyes glued to the screen, love love DA! Your plates and cups are just delightful!
ReplyDeleteJenna
What a wonderful gift you received! Yes, I did watch the season premiere and loved it!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely LOVE your gift you received. Yes, I am a great fan of DA and watched the beginning of the new season with joy! So nice to welcome back the characters and the new plot beginnings. Enjoy! Rosie @ The Magic Hutch
ReplyDeleteP.S. I also like to see the exquisite dinner settings they come up with!
Oh yes....watching the new season! Love your tea cups.
ReplyDeleteSheila
You received a special gift and right in time for the 5th season. Yes, I am a fan and watched the premier. It was really good and I look forward to each and every episode.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a wonderful new year!!
Blessings
I love Downton Abbey and yes yes I watched it's premier!! Love the mugs and plates. What a great gift. I don't live near a World Market but did think about trying to get one of those mugs..LOL!!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Linda
Oh what a fabulous vignette ...love all the DA goodies! Enjoy...I've not watched it (I know! gasp) Will have to make it a point to start watching in the new year! Hear it's mighty cold down your way! Stayt warm and enjoy your tea!
ReplyDeleteMiss Bloomers
Darling!
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoyed it as much as I did!
ReplyDeleteYes I am a fan and have been from the beginning. What a thoughtful friend to give you such a lovely gift. I love clotted cream, scones and jam with tea! I wasn't that thrilled with the first episode this year, but I watched it while I was sick so that might be why.
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah,
ReplyDeletethat was indeed a sweet gift. I love Downtown Abbey and I look it when it is shown on TV here. If Season Five means ~ Tea ~ Scones ~ Jam ~ Clotted Cream ~ , it is just what I need in winter. Thanks for sharing this wonderful tea post.
Best greetings, Johanna
Dearest Sarah,
ReplyDeleteNo, we seldom have the time for watching anything... but it sounds like a very classy and stylish show!
Love your posting and setting.
Hugs,
Mariette
Wonderful post! It was such fun to greet a new season of DA. I love your teacups and tote; they are so appropriate. My cousin gave me a DA bottle of wine, which my husband and I ceremoniously drank while watching the show. I don't know if it was made in England, but it was fun pretending it was.
ReplyDeleteHope to see you in 2015, Sarah. Happy New Year!
Oh yes Sarah, I couldn't wait for the first episode of the new season and I am a fan of the Downton Abbey series. I love the teacups and your lovely vignette. I do enjoy scones and jam with clotted cream but you usually find coffee in my teacup. What a thoughtful gift..........
ReplyDeleteLucky, lucky you to have a friend give you those gifts!
ReplyDeleteSarah, I need to join the party and the fun! I've had several people recently tell me I need to watch DA. Love your thoughtful gift and of course your arrangement in your Courtly Check urn!
ReplyDeleteSarah, I love all the DA decorations that you have. I just found out that starting in February the Biltmore Estate is having a DA exhibit with all the period costumes. Sounds like a plan.
ReplyDeleteKaren
I love Downton Abbey and saw ghe cost plus special but never made it over there! I have wondered what the downton Abbey branded teas taste like. Enjoy next weeks episode!
ReplyDeleteOh Sarah, I was so excited for season V that I watched it twice and I have it recorded. What a wonderful gift from your friend. Will have to go to World Market and try the tea.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful 2015.
Mary
So sweet of your friend! YES, huge fan and so excited for the new season! Thank so much for sharing at AMAZE ME MONDAY.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Cindy
I am envious of your cups! They are adorable! I wonder if you can still get them. I am out of town so I missed the first episode but am going to watch it on Amazon so I won't be behind!
ReplyDeleteI looked up photos for the lenticular cloud over St. George! That was amazing.
What a fabulous gift! I resisted watching for so long because I hate movies like Sense and Sensibility! A friend finally loaned me seasons 1-3 and I got hooked! I think I was supposed to live in that era!!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I am a fan! I own all the previous seasons on DVD and will be sure to buy this one - but not until I have watched the entire season week by week. I like to draw out the pleasure! What a thoughtful friend you have. The gift of the tea and all the trimmings was perfect for you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely gift and thoughtful friend. Downton Abbey is a favorite of mine, too. I've watched all the episodes, several times, just to see what I missed the first time around...sometimes it's a look that one person gives another or someone's dress, etc. I'm such an Anglophile, I even read Lady Carnarvon's blog.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful plates and tea time fun. The clock plates are show stoppers! Oh, yes, I LOVE Downton Abbey. Last season, Bandwidth found the British version, and I binge watched it before the US premier. For Season 5, I managed to wait.:-) Maggie reminds me so much of my mother--stirring tea and mischief and dishing out pithy comments. I can't help but be suspicious of Mary's new beau...surely there's more (is he impoverished? Using Mary? Or something else? It's fun to speculate). A deliciously fun post, Sarah!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I watched the opener! You better hold dear any friend that would venture out on Black Friday!
ReplyDeleteWishing you all the best of 2015, Sarah.
Yes, I enjoyed watching the premiere show of season five of Downton Abbey. We have relished each season and even enjoy watching reruns. Amazing how much you forget.
ReplyDeleteLucky you to receive the Downton Abbey tote bag and beautiful tea cups from a special friend.
Big fan Sarah. Loved it and I love those time themed plates! What a sweet gift from your friend! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
Happy New Year, Sarah!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to have such a sweet and thoughtful friend to have gifted you with such a perfect present!
Wishing you all the best in 2015!
Poppy
I'm a huge tea fan, but as yet have not watched any of Downton Abbey. One of these days I need a marathon session of watching to catch up...
ReplyDeletexo
Beautiful gift my friend. Love the time themed plates. I am too enjoying DA new season, how exciting! You are lucky with such a friend who knows your lovely taste.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
FABBY
Sarah, Can you believe I've never watched Downtown Abbey? What a sweet friend you have.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Sherry
What a dear friend that knew how much you would enjoy the gift and appreciate her waiting in that line :-) We have never watched Downton Abbey but I know it's very popular.
ReplyDeleteYou have a wonderful friend who not only knows what you would want for your birthday but walked the extraordinary extra mile to get it for you. Bless her little heart for braving Black Friday's crowds so she could give you this Downton Abby gift. I am so impressed! I love Downton Abby, it is so well done and the characters are all so interesting. My imagination kicks in as I watch and daydream about living in a different time and place where the social graces meant so much. Have a wonderful day..... Candy
ReplyDeleteIndeed! It's been a lonnnnng wait!!! Last night's episode was wonderful. I'm beginning to like Rose more - she was such a brat early on. And your friend is very special - how thoughtful and kind! Cheers
ReplyDeleteCan you believe I've never seen one episode of Downton Abbey? *runs and hides in corner, ashamed….*
ReplyDeleteWhat a GORGEOUS tea!!! How elegant and fun!
xo,
RJ
I do love DA, but it seems that something frequently interferes with me watching it. I also need to purchase some of the older episodes to watch. What a neat gift from your friend. But, Sarah, I LOVE those clock plates. Who makes them? I want some. laurie
ReplyDeleteI am a huge fan of Downton Abbey and tea! What a wonderful gift. I'm going ot have to check that out at World Market. :) So much fun.
