An Apple for the Teacher

This post was first published
September 2013, but the topic is timeless.

Although many schools in Texas begin
a new school year in late August,
I always associate September with
 Back To School.

An Apple For The Teacher
My table is a tribute to teachers everywhere.

Apples, apples, what a treat,
sweet and tart and good to eat.
Apples green and apples red,
hang from branches overhead,
and when they ripen, down they drop,
so we can taste our apple crop.

The summer we married, my husband was in graduate school, and I was employed as a teacher. We took a portion of our savings that summer and purchased a sailboat. We christened our Catalina 22, “Hyacinths For The Soul” after Saadi’s poem. Our "Hyacinths" provided years of pleasure.

  1. I like your apple theme and the red, green and white colors, and those pearl handled flatware items. Yes, thank you to teachers.

  2. Timeless indeed. And as always, a beautiful, happy post!

  3. This apple table is timeless... simply gorgeous. I totally love the apple plates, for the teacher or not, lol...
    Happy Fall my friend.

  4. Sarah, I missed this post when you first shared perfect for fall and appropriate for a teacher! I love the apple plate gifted to you and gorgeous plate stack. And who could resist a slice of apple pie, served up on your handsome Courtly Check pedestal?! An A+ 'Back to School' post. ♥

  5. This is a timeless post. I wish school started in September. I believe it was better that way!
Love your plate stack and beautiful vintage pearl handled flatware. That plate is a treasured gift I am sure.
I never would have known those apples were faux. They look so real.
That pie looks homemade and on your MC plate is fabulous!

  6. Oh Sarah, I LOVE this! Apples definitely remind me of September and the beginning of fall...your vignette is lovely and the apple plate is gorgeous! What a wonderful teacher gift! I know you must have many special memories...❤️

  7. this is just adorable the second time round! so nice of you to stop by and visit, I hope life has been treating you well! I see we both have apples on you mind this week ;-) as you noticed we have a new project in the sierra foothills, so fun to start over with a brand new garden, apples included!

  8. Sarh, what an adorable table for one. love the apple plates. Of course I always appreciate your MKC cake stand.. A big thank you to the teachers. The flatware is creative with the ring. Thank you for sharing this sweet table at "Love Your Creativity."

  9. Sarah, this is outstanding! A+ for the nod to teacher's table! Oh my, I love the ceramic plate and that quilt!
While I realize many are saying summer flew by, I honestly can't believe how quickly September alone is passing. Within the last two days our hills are suddenly showing some color, most likely due to heat and lack of water, but nonetheless, it's starting to look like fall. It's still very, very hot here in WV, and I suppose it goes without saying that it's hot in TX, I know.

  10. Dearest Sarah,
LOVE your apple plates here and the subject remains as valuable as in 2013!

  11. Oh my!! This caught my eye right away! Your vignette is just wonderful!! So glad you reposted this - it is timeless - it makes me smile!

  12. What a beautiful apple of my eye table, Sarah. The Irish chain quilt is perfect for the table covering, and your pretty gifted apple plate. Of course you MacKenzie-Childs pedestal stand always looks wonderful, especially with the apple pie.

  13. Thank you for sharing at #OverTheMoon. Pinned and shared. Have a lovely week. I hope to see you at next week’s party too!

Thank you to each of you who take the time to leave a comment. I read and appreciate each and every one and will respond to any questions. Your notes are the only way I know who has stopped in for a visit.
