Cool and calming, blue and white
for both mind and body . . .
But most often it's white blooms
that fill my blue and white.
The combination
is timeless and unmatched.
The summer we married, my husband was in graduate school, and I was employed as a teacher. We took a portion of our savings that summer and purchased a sailboat. We christened our Catalina 22, “Hyacinths For The Soul” after Saadi’s poem. Our "Hyacinths" provided years of pleasure.

Oh, my Sarah! This is so beautiful. You have lovely blue and white pieces and I see that little blue and white Staffy dog peeping in at me! :) Yes, I could have lived with blue and white. My last houses living room was mostly blue and my kitchen was yellow and blue! I still love blue.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie and thanks for popping in to see me.
Shelia ;)
Hi Sarah You know I love blue and white! Your pieces are beautiful. I have the same piece with the lid and two handles in the photo with the dog! Thanks for letting me know about the blue and white bash at Pink Pagoda Hugs,Rhondi
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah,
ReplyDeleteI've been hosting BLUE MONDAY for over five years now, so you know I love blue and white. You have a nice collection, and I like the way you display the pieces.
I'm looking forward to reading your comment on my blue crab post. Please come back.
Happy Blue Monday!
Sarah, I think you know i share your passion for blue and white, and like you, I live with it daily... in Chinese porcelain, in fabric, in quilts, in our Mottahedeh Canton dishes, and even my clothes! I have navy and white striped espadrilles, blue and white striped shirts, etc. Uh, can you say addicted?
ReplyDeleteAs to yours, you know I love it, especially with pops of pink. I love how you layered it there. When I was arrangements chair for the League a million years ago in the 80's, I used blue and white double happiness jars filled with roses, pink sweetheart vine aka coral vine, berries, yard garbage, etc. for centerpieces for a luncheon and sold them like hot cakes. I bought several for myself because I wanted the jars! Good excuse, no? ;-)
I need to check out that book. I have been reading Mario Buatta's book (which is so heavy I can't lift it), and I always think of him when I think of Chinese porcelain... and you! I will have to check out this party later.
xo

I love your vignettes, so pretty and your little dog is gorgeous. I havn't seen them in blue before, but yours is beautiful. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteAll the blue and white reminds me of a Currier and Ives set of dishes from my childhood. Love your pieces.
ReplyDeleteLove, love your blue and white. It is peaceful. I am following your Pinterest board. I have blue and white in my bedroom and want to use it in my next living room.
ReplyDeleteAh...tranquil!
ReplyDeleteSarah you have a beautiful collection of blue and white and your display is stunning!!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty Sarah! Lovin' the shot with the hot pink cactus:@)
ReplyDeleteActually, I do have a lot of blue and white, only mine isn't the cobalt blue but the aqua blue of French opaline glass. (It's like milk glass, so it's opaque, only it's a glorious shade of aqua/turquoise.) I've been collecting it for a long time, and just seeing a few pieces on the mantle or in the china cupboard in the dining room always makes me smile. As you say, nothing like blue for soothing the frazzled soul! My favourite is a bunch of white tulips in the turquoise glass vase I found many years ago. I usually spring for a bunch of white tulips after Christmas, as an antidote to all the red and green everywhere.
ReplyDeleteSarah, The vignette is beautiful and I love all your blue and white
ReplyDeletexx,
Sherry
I love the combination of blue and white.
ReplyDeleteAll of your blue and white pieces are just beautiful.
I am looking for ideas for changing up our bedroom and I am going with blue and white. I haven't found a new comforter/duvet cover yet, but I think I want blue and white stripes.
OOO, so many beautiful blues and whites and such pretty vignettes, Sarah. I love the way you elevated the planter on the little white stool in one of the vignettes. Loved seeing your groupings. laurie
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful post, Sarah!
ReplyDeleteSo happy to find your blog.

I have not been too much of a fan of blue and white but it is growing on me. We found a lovely, french, blue and white candlestick for the booth. We have had a booth at the Knitting Mill for the last 6 months and are having a ball. Have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteOh I never tire of blue and white. It is one of my favorite pairings.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, Sarah. I've never seen blue and white planters and I think the organic feel mixed with the elegant porcelain is beautiful. I love those white flowers but can't figure out what they are. A type of geranium?
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Gorgeous Blue & White Sarah and perfect for the winter blues! We were in the 70s on Sunday and are now back down to the 20s again with wind chill in the teens. I hope you're better off than Dallas with all the terrible traffic snarls and weather.
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah, Your blue and white collection is lovely and I love how you group pieces together. Beautiful photographs...........
ReplyDeleteHow very, very beautiful, Sarah. I love blue an d white and your vignettes are just gorgeous! Perfect, my friend! xo Diana

ReplyDeleteI absolutely love blue and white...I think when I redecorate my living room I'm going back to to my favorite theme. Your pieces are just amazing and so beautiful! You keep me inspired! Hope you are getting a little warmer..we are in the arctic zone!
ReplyDeleteMiss Bloomers
I do not live with blue and white, although I have seen its appeal since I was a girl. I had a friend whose room was blue and white, while my bedroom featured orange and brown. I loved hers. I love the white blooms in the blue and white. Joni
ReplyDeleteSarah,
ReplyDeleteBlue and white is a classic combination, and your collection contains truly classic pieces that will never go out of style.
Currently, I am gathering samples of blue and white fabrics in order to recover my living room and breakfast room pieces. It is so hard to choose because I like so many!
We are still in a deep freeze this week. The pear trees were all "bit" by the freeze (in the teens), and their blossoms have turned to brown. Sigh...sad to see.
Judith
Yes, I live with blue and white and I have loved blue and white for many years.
ReplyDeleteYour pieces are beautiful. They make my heart sing too.
Deares Sarah,
ReplyDeleteYou bet, being Dutch by birth I sure do love some blue and white...
Lovely post with gorgeous photos.

I'm so happy you joined me for The Blue and White Bash! Your blue and white is beautiful and I especially love the photo with the pink flowers! Thank you so much for linking your lovely post!
ReplyDeleteYou have such a beautiful collection of blue and white, Sarah. I can see why it makes your heart sing and why it is so timeless. I especially love your calico cow! Pops of colors just seem to explode against the blue and white. Thanks for sharing. xo
ReplyDeleteSo many lovely blue and white things Sarah, and I just love the books mixed in your gorgeous vignette!

Sarah,
ReplyDeleteI understand your connection to blue & white's tranquility and joy!
Once we arrived on this side of the Prairie, I contained the blue & white to a Guest Room.
With our arid climate and extreme heat, we see hues of brown outside. I've added warmer tones and more vibrant colors to our home. I am,, however adding more touches of aqua with gray hues and loving the tranquility that it brings!
Your collection of blue & white is truly, timeless and classic!!! Exquisite!
Fondly,
Pat
Oh yes! My all time favorite blue and white. So classic and your collection is fabulous, Sarah. You put them together so nicely too...Christine
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! You have given me an idea with the copper near it -- really pretty. I am adding some more blue and white to my foyer, but am waiting for additional disc hangers. the bay window area is a lovely spot to group it.
ReplyDeleteI kinda lost many of my blue and white bits along the way - although I loved it, I just didn't have room for so much china - probably sold it when I was at SuzAnna's! I do have a few antique transferware platters on the dresser, mixed with grey and white, brown and white etc.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm in a 'blue mood' with my decor so am looking for some old dark blue glass pieces, large bottles etc. to put on that dining room sideboard……..once I get around to painting it dark blue!!!!!
Sara dear - your vignettes and beautiful treasures always look so perfect - thanks for sharing these lovely things.
Hugs - hope it's warmed up again your way.
Mary
Beautiful! :) I have my grandmother's old blue and white transferware and love it, and when I was young the china ( not really good china, but nice for holidays ) was blue and white as well : ) It's so pretty in dishes...I love your display and pretty flowers :)
ReplyDeleteSarah you have such pretty blue and white pieces, beautifully displayed in your home!

Thanks for your wonderful visit.

I really have to chuckle. Not only did we both do blue and white but we did it with pussy willow and plants! And that was long before I knew of the Pink Pagoda party.

ReplyDeleteYes, I live with blue and white. I find myself calming as I come home to a room decorated with this favourite combination. I like to add a little yellow, pink or red depending on the season, but blue and white are always the foundation.

I love all of your blue and white ceramics. I was in Ross last night and came across a few flower pots. I regretted leaving them there since they were so inexpensive, but I really didn't have a spot for them. You gave me a few vignette ideas so I may go back for them. Thanks so much for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing this post at the Say G’Day Saturday linky party. I love blue & white too, especially my Spode dishes!
ReplyDeleteHope to see you again this weekend!
