No Friend Like a Sister

This is another of the little Mary Engelbreit gift books published by Andrews & McMeel. It is a "collection of poignant illustrations that celebrate the unique bond that exists between sisters." The words on the pages of this book totally reflect how I feel about my sister. My favorite page is the one in the mosaic above with the two sisters, one fair haired and the other dark haired, just like my sister and me.

It includes this poem by Edgar A. Guest:

I'd like to be the sort of friend
that you have been to me.

I'd like to be the help
that you've been always glad to be.

I'd like to mean as much to you each
minute of the day as you have meant,

Old friend of mine, to me along the way.

this sweet baby girl was born some years ago.

The summer we married, my husband was in graduate school, and I was employed as a teacher. We took a portion of our savings that summer and purchased a sailboat. We christened our Catalina 22, “Hyacinths For The Soul” after Saadi’s poem. Our "Hyacinths" provided years of pleasure.

    Happy Birthday to your sister. I sure know the joy of having and the sorrow of losing my only sister to breast cancer. She was 32 and I 34. Been 28 years ago and still hurts every day. Love your mosaic.

    Just wanted to pop by & thank you for your sweet wishes for my husband. He is not out of the woods yet with another surgical procedure in a few weeks again. He is doing fine tho under the circumstances. You truly moved me & for you I am thankful.
