Springtime Pleasures

Spring is Here!
Our Texas weather has been a wild ride of late, but my bluebonnets are in full bloom, the trees are spring green with new growth, and I'm back at work in the garden, digging in the dirt, and refreshing everything.

Welcome to our Spring Tablescape Blog Hop
If you've hopped over from my precious friend, Bonnie's
beautiful alfresco setting in her garden,  I know you were treated to beautiful details and gorgeous spring blooms.

This is a peek at our early spring, blue skies and fresh green leaves, and the state bird of Texas, the Northern Mocking Bird.
Thank you to Rita, our amazingly organized and
talented leader and author of the beautiful Panoply
Rita has once again organized a group of 21 bloggers to offer
inspiration for creating your own springtime table and ambiance.
You'll find links to each at the end of this post.

When a surprise box of "happy mail" arrived recently,
I immediately knew these darling bunny in a cabbage
covered bowls would be the inspiration for my spring table.
Thank you to my California friend, Dawna, for sending these cuties.

I immediately thought they would be fun for serving soup.
These coin silver soup spoons date to the 1800s.
I bought them at a small shop in Maine one summer long ago.
The delicate blooms on a stem are flowering quince from my garden.

I first met Dawna through her blog,
Stitches From the Tub
Now years later, we've reconnected on Instagram.
You'll find her squares @boltsinthebathtub
Give her a follow.  Dawna shares beautiful quilt projects
and is a soul sister when it comes to playing with dishes.
The darling place card is a design from Bobbie @Frenchdoor Studio.

I have many beautiful linens from
Crown Linen Designs that I used for this setting.
I often add embroidered linen dish towels as chair back
accents on my dining room chairs.

Crown Linen Design ruffled velvet
placemats are ones I use time and again.
I placed a faux leaf placemat atop the velvet
as a nod to the spring greens that I so enjoy.

The luncheon sized napkins are embellished
with colored eggs tied with a bow.
The flatware is Napoleonic Bee
by Wallace Silversmiths.

The bee is yet another nod to spring as it reminds me of
the bees buzzing around in my patch of bluebonnets.

The plate stack continues the spring theme with Bordallo Pinheiro cabbage leaf dinner plates topped with salad plates in Finezza,
my favorite Arte Italica pattern hand crafted in Italy.

These stems are my go to glassware that you've seen over and over,
Arte Italica pewter Verona wine glasses
and La Rochelle Napoleon Bee stemed glasses.
Notice the embossed bees.

This bunny vase inspired my centerpiece along with a recently acquired pair of Bordallo Pinheiro bunny cups and saucers in pink.

The pair of Fritz and Floyd Asparagus cups and saucers were
already in my stash.  All the cups and saucers are vintage.

I filled the cups with flowers and elevated them
on pieces of silver a top a silver tray.

A bit tall for the center of a table,
but the openness allows it to work.

Seated at the ends of our oval table
allows views all around.

Across on the buffet are more
flowers and lots of sweets.

When our local grocery offered bouquets of ten stems of tulips
on sale 3 bouquets for $21,  I couldn't resist and filled
 my MacKenzie-Childs tulipiere.

MacKenzie-Childs offered their limited edition
bunny plate in Courtly Check this year.

Aren't these fun springtime plates?

Easter is still 20 days away, but there are lots of bunnies
hopping about and settling in around here.
Is it looking like spring around your home?

As always, I appreciate your visit and hope you'll leave a comment
to let me know you stopped by before you hop on over to

The summer we married, my husband was in graduate school, and I was employed as a teacher. We took a portion of our savings that summer and purchased a sailboat. We christened our Catalina 22, “Hyacinths For The Soul” after Saadi’s poem. Our "Hyacinths" provided years of pleasure.

  1. Good Morning Sarah, I ADORE how you elevated the fun at your spring table with your sweet planted majolica cups on your silver tray! Your bunny tulip vase is adorable too. I love your plate stack topped with your new cabbage bunny tureens and with my favorite flatware buzzing with bees. What gorgeous tulips and at a bargain price too!…they’re especially stunning in your MKC tulipiere and with your sweet bunny plates. As always, it’s a treat to join you at the table. Happy Spring to you. ♥

  2. Good morning, Sarah. All of your beautiful collections have me smiling this morning. The MKC tulipiere with all of the tulips is stunning on your buffet! All of the sweets look delicious. Now to your lovely table…bunny and asparagus cups planted with blooms and elevated is a most perfect centerpiece. I may have to borrow this idea. The bunny cabbage bowls are adorable topping your plate stack. The faux placemat atop the CLD placemats is so pretty. It is always fun hopping with you. Happy Spring!

  3. My dear Sarah, {sigh}. You've done it again, setting such a beautiful table with details that go beyond the ordinary! I can't say enough of your style that I haven't already said - so beautiful. I love the little soup tureens your friend Dawna sent (obviously with great packaging!), and your added beauties from Crown Linen send each place setting to the next level. I have all the spring feels in looking over your centerpiece platter and sideboard goodies. Thank you for bringing your style to your table for all of us to see and share. Happy Spring!
ps - the northern mockingbird?! I could think of a few other more docile and pretty birds TX could've used as their state bird! Those guys drive me nuts with their aggressive behavior and copycat cries for attention!

  4. Dearest Sarah,
That is a lovely and happy post.
Love the Tulipière filled with tulips!
Easter is approaching rapidly and I sure hope I will be able to walk freely.
Tomorrow I'll finally hear about the results from my right shoulder MRI, done on March 1.
It takes forever but meanwhile my left leg has healed a lot, scabs have not yet come off but all the swelling is down. Still tender and sore from the bruising—when a car hits you that is natural.

  5. The bunny soup tureens are wonderful, Sarah, and the perfect focal point for your plate stack. Your Friend must know you well. I have not seen a tulip container like yours before. It is a wonderful way to display your flowers. Your bee flatware is a particular favorite. So nice to have crystal that matches. Lovely Spring feel to the setting.

  6. Hi Sarah, what a beautiful bird! Our March has been a wild weather ride too and we have been enjoying Spring blooms earlier than usual this year. Your surprise gift of bunny topped cabbage covered bowls are just adorable!! I love the Crown Linen Designs soft pink velvet placemats, so perfect for pairing with the faux leaf placemat and your pretty plate stack. The bee flatware is such a cute touch and placed on the napkins so we can see the Easter egg! The centerpiece with elevated flowers in teacups and the sweet bunny vase is gorgeous! The buffet, swoon! Love those velvet wreaths hung with pink satin and the tulipere full of fresh tulips, Spring has certainly sprung with all your MKC pretties!! Beautiful 💕🐇💕 Jenna

  7. Sarah, I always love getting to see peaks at your extensive collection of tableware and decor pieces. Those mini rabbit topped tureens are just fabulous! And, you know I'm all a buzz over the bee flatware and glasses.

  8. Sarah, your spring table is simply charming! I love the cabbage tureens and it's a pleasure to browse your lovely collections. Pinned!

  9. Sarah, I did not know the Northern Mockingbird was the Texas state bird. What a great capture of spring skies and the Mockingbird atop what looks like a holly bush.
Your spring table is delightful! So many pretty details. I love the sweet bunny cabbage bowls from your friend Dawna. Your plate stack shows them off beautifully. I use my CL velvet placemats quite often also. The faux leaf placemat is a great addition along with the Arte Italica Finezza and Bordello Pinheiro cabbage ware plates.
Your centerpiece is very creative and quite stunning. I love how you put your vintage cups and saucers filled with flowers on silver pieces along with a tall bunny filled with flowers and smaller MKC pieces scattered about. Perfect combinations of texture, color, and variety.
And the tulipiere on the buffet filled with tulips is gorgeous.
Have a great Easter and enjoy the spring weather.

  10. So many lovely details, Sarah, where to start! Love how you elevated your florals as a centerpiece and the tulips in the MC bucket. Especially liked the ruffled placemats and beautiful dishes. Perfect Easter tablescape!

  11. Kari @ Me and My CaptainMarch 21, 2023 at 2:55 PM

Sarah, I adore the bee flatware and glasses...oh yes, that is right...I have them too! I got mine many years ago and imagine my surprise after I received them ...to find them readily available at World Market! Not sure if they still have them as I have not visited a store in years. The tulip vase is lovely and your tulips are "drooping" perfectly from the little cavities. I also did not know until many years ago, that tulips actually should droop and one is fortunate when they droop in the right direction. Who knew? LOL It is always a pleasure to blog hop with you and Happy Spring and Easter to you and yours.

  12. Sarah, you always have the prettiest tablescapes and vignettes! I love your plate stacks, especially the covered bunny and cabbage bowls on top. I love the violets in the teacups, too, and I think it's neat how everything on the tray centerpiece is varied in height. The asparagus cups are pretty fabulous, too! Of course my favorite is your stack of MacKenzie-Childs bunny shaped plates in the fun patterns. They are great, and your tulipière looks so pretty displaying colorful tulips. I hope you have the happiest of springs, Sweet Friend!

  13. Sad not all snail mail arrives:(I have your bunny sitting on a cabbage dish but different colr:) Perfectly Eater! You are a star vignetter:)xo

  14. Sarah, I adore every single part of your bunny celebration. Thank you so much for setting a place for me at your table. Now that you have the bunny covered dishes I will think of us sitting together whenever I use mine. Your posts have inspired me for so many years an I'm blessed to have you in my life. Bunny, bunny, bunny to you every day. 🐇 🐇 🐇

  15. Sarah, this is an absolutely lovely table! The gorgeous silver and crystal pieces elevate the table as well as the mood. The abundance of tulips spilling from a tulipiere is spectacular! I've always wondered what to do with a tulipiere. The unique bunny plates and the clever way you used the cups and saucers add just the right amount of whimsy. Fun to hop with you today!

  16. Sarah, what a beautiful table you have set here for spring! The plate stack is gorgeous with the Crown Linen placemat, the spring greens, the cabbage plates, and those pretty Arte Italica salad plates. And what a sweet gift those bunny soup tureens are. I love the centerpiece with your BP and F & F cups and saucers and that sweet bunny vase. The vignette is so pretty and I love the McKenzie Childs bunny plates and tulipiere filled with tulips. Wishing you a very happy spring!

  17. Sarah, you never disappoint when you post and this is such a lovely table with a nod to spring. I always enjoy seeing your collections and how you display or set a table with them. I am in love with your MC bunnies and the beautiful tulipiere. I know you are happy to have nice weather and can tend your garden now. We still have to come up with a simple design here but just haven't had the time yet. Hope to get started with that next week if we have sunny days. Like you, the weather has been a roller coaster here. Happy Spring Sarah.........

  18. Love love love Sarah! Such a beautiful and fun table setting- one anyone would love!! I’m in love with your bunnies and everything about your table!

  20. Oh, Sarah! What a joyful Spring table!! There are so many touches that I adore!! The Arte Italica china is also one of my personal favorites, and your vintage china cups are just scrumptious looking!! I really like the ways you created a centerpiece with them! Clever and cute!! I also like your tea towel touches on the chair backs and all the bee elements - I too am a bee fan! Thank you for sharing Bobbie's adorable place cards from The French Door Studio!! I'm having so much fun looking at her charming designs on her blog! As a vintage paper loving gal myself, her designs have completely captured my heart! I also have to tell you how much I love your windows - that cottage style is my absolute favorite!!! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home, table, and friends with me!! What a delightful break for me during a busy season! ~Hugs~ Jennifer from CelebratingEverydayLife.com

  21. Sarah, I really enjoyed your Easter tablescape since your include so many lovely vintage pieces as in your tea cups filled with flowers. I also enjoyed your lovely silver tray to show case your lovely Easter collection as a centerpiece. It is not often I see silver incorporated in a tablescape anymore. It is so elegant and the playful ceramic bunny vase filled with tulips is such a lovely contrast to the rich and opulent silver tray. My heart yearns for a set of those McK-Child's bunny plates. And who wouldn't love to be served soup in the lovely bunny in a head of cabbage soup bowls. So unique, whimsical and delightful. Happy Easter Sarah.

  22. You always set such a pretty table, Sarah, with touches of whimsy. Your new bunny bowls are adorable!! I also love how you elevated the cups on candlesticks and on your pretty silver tray. Happy first week of Spring, dear Sarah!

  23. Sarah, a delight for the yes. You have created such a beautiful vignette with your prized possessions. How lovely your friend Dawna sent those adorable cabbage covered little bowls. Such cute bunny place cards too.
Love the CLD velvet placemats with the faux leaf. The Bordallo Pinheriro cabbage plates are a favorite especially with Finezza. The bunny case is darling. Adding the elevated cabbage cups looks so pretty.Your buffet is so eye catching with MKC displays. Happy spring Sarah.

  24. Oh Sarah, you have captured the essence of spring with your tablescape. What a blessing to have those adorable covered bowls sent from a friend, and to arrive just in time too! I love the simplicity of the coin silver soup spoons. The little violets in the pink teacups are such a great idea. I will definitely be borrowing the idea of using tea towels over the back of the chairs! Wishing you a very happy start to spring!

  25. Sarah, how beautiful you have decorated for springtime! I just don't know where to begin! The beautiful bunny plates are delightful. There are so many fun ways you can use those! You are so right to the bees adorning your silver. I love the little cups full of blooms! Your tulipiere is amazing, and how wonderful to be able to fill it with so many lovely blooms. Those bunny bowls are fantastic! So many great ideas! Thank you so much for sharing!! Happy spring and happy Easter!

  26. Sarah, since we are miles apart, the next best thing is to visit your blog to see how you have decorated for spring. Your little stack of MC bunny plates made me smile, and the covered bowls were a perfect gift for you. My favorite pieces (which I still haven't bought) are the magnificent MacKenzie-Childs tulipieres. Of course you needed to stack them! You are so creative! Happy Spring and Happy Easter.

  27. Sarah, those bunny and cabbage bowls are the cutest! What a sweet gift from your blogger friend. I love how you draped embroidered linen dish towels on the backs of your chairs...what a clever idea! I love the tulipiere, too. It was fun hopping with you. Happy Spring!

  28. Oh Sarah, I am so enchanted! Well, first of all, any table with a bunny theme is going to be a favorite of mine -- and I love the colors which are the essence of spring and all the very sweet touches (like the embroidered towels). Your "bee" flatware is wonderful, as are your sweet placecards. And, speaking of sweet, that dessert table is simply the best! Don't you just love tulips? What a fabulous buy. I should think anyone who joins you at this table is a treasured guest indeed! Happy Spring!

  29. Sarah, I am swooning over all the pretties you have sitting around in your lovely dining room. I love bunnies, and you have many precious ones ready to celebrate spring. The centerpiece you created is so beautiful, and I am definitely going to borrow this idea. Your entire table is gorgeous with the pretty dishes and the CLD linens. The Wallace Napolean flatware is one of my favorites. The way you have styled your buffet is so pretty, too. My visit today to your table has brightened my day! Happy spring, sweet friend!
