Hoppy Times with Girlfriends and A Spring Tussie Mussie

Last Wednesday I had dinner with a

group of girlfriends at my friend, Susan's.

Susan loves holidays and always

has her home beautifully decorated

for every special occasion throughout the year.

Among her treasures are many

hand stitched needlepoint figures.

Susan sets a gorgeous table

and creates the most adorable centerpieces.

This year's centerpiece included

fresh yellow daffodils, a large paper maché bunny,

glitter eggs, and cute little bunnies dressed for spring.

Each place setting featured a white linen placemat

and details in shades of green and pink.

The bunny plates are in the Provence pattern

produced by The Haldon Group many years ago.

Look at these adorable white linen napkins

with the eyelash embroidery details.

They make me think of a spring meadow.

It is tradition for this group of friends,

that each of us brings a small gift or

favor for the holiday celebrated.

I decided to make my gifts this year

when I saw this adorable tussie mussie that

folk artist, Johanna Parker, recently shared

as a free downloadable pattern

of one of her original designs.

You'll find a complete tutorial on Johanna's blog

on how to make your own spring tussie-mussie

with the free printable pattern.

You can see more of my friend Susan's

beautiful Easter decor here towards the

end of a post I created in April 2010.

The summer we married, my husband was in graduate school, and I was employed as a teacher. We took a portion of our savings that summer and purchased a sailboat. We christened our Catalina 22, “Hyacinths For The Soul” after Saadi’s poem. Our "Hyacinths" provided years of pleasure.

  8. What a JOYOUS celebration, isn't it dear Sarah? Every bit of color and whimsy, bunnies and food, friendship and place setting spells out happiness. Joy is ours, for new life is what it is all about. Today the wind is blowing fiercely, but this morning we went on a walk around the lake and had our own little sunrise service in the car! A thermos of tea and poetry and scriptures were with us, and we were celebrating.

Thank you for your visit; peace and beauty to you today! Anita
