The summer we married, my husband was in graduate school, and I was employed as a teacher. We took a portion of our savings that summer and purchased a sailboat. We christened our Catalina 22, “Hyacinths For The Soul” after Saadi’s poem. Our "Hyacinths" provided years of pleasure.

  1. What a wonderful post. I haven't any flowers yet. We bought daffs for Easter. So, until mine bloom, I'll just enjoy yours.

Thank you for visiting and for the lovly and sweet comment. In the back it just says France, carved like, in the porcelain, but they're not new, the lady in the European antique shop said that, that is what makes it not new.

  42. Oh Sara,

YOU have brought tears to my eyes for we all know the pain. 23 years later and still, when I see that little dolly, I weep. She was so sick, but all she thought about were OTHERS...she had my aunt take her to the local five and dime, she took her change and bought the little 59 cent doll and crocheted her little suit. I flew in from Boston to L.A. and there she was....hooked up to tubes, but she wanted to make sure I had the doll. She didn't have much to spend but what she gave of her last strength will forever go with me...blessings to you as you celebrate YOUR MOTHER...what a woman...to reach that CERTAIN AGE....enjoy and thank you. Anita
