Black Cat, Black Cat
Author Unknown
Black cat, Black cat
Looking for a witch.
All around the
Night is dark as pitch.
You can see because
Your eyes are green.
Black cat, Black cat
This is Halloween!
Black cats and witches seem to go together at Halloween, and we've a few who have taken up residence here at HFTS.
Little Miss can usually be found in the the pumpkin patch.
While Cyrus gleefully bounces about in Miss Sadie's basket. No brooms for this pair.
Many of these guys like to lounge around on the bare branches of this spooky tree.
A Halloween Tail
Nancy Russell
Black cat prowling, stalking slow
Its shadow appeared in the pumpkin's glow.
Arched and stretching its silhouette,
It gave a yowl I can't forget.
On Halloween night, frightened as could be,
That sight and sound sent chills through me.
I still remember and it makes me smile,
What happened next put me in denial.
For there on the porch, as cute as could be
Was the neighbor's kitten for all to see.
We have costumed kiddies
and rolly polly kitties.
Black Cats on wheels and Black Cats that sing.
There is the Witch Cat found among the pages of this old English tale and . . .
This precious little Black Cat creeps through the pages of this charming little Cuddle & Read story about Halloween Night. If you have little ones at home I highly recommend this precious story.

Hi Sarah,
ReplyDeleteSpooky certainly is FUN (and beautiful!) at your house! Thank you for the literary suggestions --those titles sound like great fun for kids of ALL ages!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Bill
She's my favorite on the bike:) She reminds me of the witch in Oz:)
ReplyDeleteG'eve Sarah ~ What darling Halloween decorations! So fun! It is always delightful to pop over & visit you.

TTFN ~ Hugs, Marydon
Sarah -- I love your cats and witches. We had a stray black cat show up in August and he was so cute. I have grown to love black cats. He went away then favored us with a visit about three weeks ago -- wonder if he found a witchie home to take him in? Joni
ReplyDeleteO my...you do have a lot of Halloween decos...all so cute.
ReplyDeleteI have very few.:(
When we were kids, my dad would take my brother and I to the rodeo..as soon as my little brother had eaten every thing they had to sell, he always wanted to go home. :))
I always thought that the riders were like actors and just there to put a show on for us. Didn't realize they were real cowboys and girls, trying to earn a little money.:)
Hi Sarah! Your Halloween accessories are all so pretty. I love the witch on a bike!...Christine
ReplyDelete:)
ReplyDelete:)
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute and whimsical collection! My favorites are Cyrus and Sadie.
ReplyDeleteI love that you even gave the shout out to picture books. Books are my ultimate favorite things.
Posted like a true teacher! So cute! Sure wish I had known about the book "Black Cat Creeping" so I could have read it to my son's class. Every Halloween book I have, they had already read. Love all your cats!
ReplyDeleteOnce again, your Halloween decorations are all so unique and so much fun! Love that rolly polly cat and also the cat on wheels. That first photo of the festive, vintage looking cat in purple hat is just so fun! I'm so glad you linked all of this fun decor to Favorite Things. laurie
ReplyDeleteI also have a collection of black cats. For some reason they have not decided to appear on the blog, and this is the perfect time of year for them. I will have to see if they can be convinced.
ReplyDeleteOoooh, that was good and spooky! I imagine that your house must be the favorite on your street! I love the story books - wonderful to have special books for particular times of year.
ReplyDeleteThe witch and cat on the bike is just too funny-I love it!
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed seeing your Halloween decor.
ReplyDeleteHope you are enjoying your weekend.

ReplyDeleteKatherine
Dear, dear Sarah! What a fun Halloween collection you have! What a whimsical post! Thanks for your visit! I was a gate crasher at the moolight tea party myself and didn't get on the list in time!Best to you, Jacqueline
ReplyDeleteGreat decorations. I love that first black cat!
ReplyDeleteBased on your suggestions, I think I'll buy the grandkidlets some cute Halloween BOOKS instead of candy this year, Sarah! All 3 of them love to read. We used to allow the oldest to pick 9 books to be read to him each night. Little by little, with each child, that number has dwindled. LOL
ReplyDeleteI love all your black kitties! You do have some wonderful collections in your home. :D
Sarah, You have a great collection of vintage looking Halloween decorations! I love them all.... The witch on her bicycle is a favorite, indeed! Love the interjection of the poetry, too. I have been so busy these past 2 weeks, I have neglected to put out my own Halloween things... so off to the boxes I will go this morning- I have a party on Saturday so I'd better hurry!
ReplyDelete~ Sue
Is it so?...

Fabulous decor and I love the cats! I have one black cat out for Halloween....he's primitive but cool and he sits beside a big vase of dried hydrangeas. So I can showcase Fall and Halloween at the same time.
