The egg is the symbol of fertility
and rebirth of the earth in springtime.
The summer we married, my husband was in graduate school, and I was employed as a teacher. We took a portion of our savings that summer and purchased a sailboat. We christened our Catalina 22, “Hyacinths For The Soul” after Saadi’s poem. Our "Hyacinths" provided years of pleasure.

These are beautiful! What an amazing collection! Thank you Sarah, for your sweet comment on the smocked dresses I adore -- however, I do want to let you know that I only hunted them down -- I didn't smock them myself - so I deserve no credit for that -- only mutual enjoyment and admiration of someone's talent.
ReplyDeleteThey're all very beautiful, Sarah! I don't own a single egg cup but I'm going to remedy that situation soon. I'm goin' shoppin'!!!!!

"Do these shoes match this purse?"
What a gorgeous collection. I have quite a few hand painted eggs, but nothing in comparison. I think the gold on the ones in the individual stands is what makes them so eggceptional - LOL!

I've never seen such an amazing collection, just gorgeous!
ReplyDeletehugs,

You have a fantastic collection of the painted eggs. I used to have one! Enjoyed seeing yours!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful collection. I knew when I saw that you'd posted that I'd be seeing something lovely - and I was right.
ReplyDeletePerhaps today I'll find time to get some of my Easter things out of the attic.
Sarah, your collection is special. I started egg collections for my children 34 and 32 years ago, but theirs are not hand painted ones. Maybe I should have been more selective. Maybe next year, I'll find just the right eggs.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful egg collection and neat story about how your collection started. I really appreciate the artistic talent that it takes to create such detail on a small canvas like the egg. Treasures...all.
ReplyDeleteWhat stunning Eggs!! Beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteDebbie

Sarah I have the little Bird on the leaf dish...and if you would agree...I would love to send it to you as one of my three pay it forwards...I am working on a post to share my story and as part of that I need to share the pay-it-forward and thank a few bloggers for awards...I have been working on the post for awhile...but when you are about to share something like this, for me...I need it to just right...
ReplyDeleteSo please let me send this to you ...and then you can send it to your friend and we both are paying-it-forward...Let me know

Sarah, just as I see one of the eggs that I think is my favorite, I see another I love as much! :-) You have a fabulous collection there, and how neat that your mother started you on this.
ReplyDeleteMy current favorite egg is the one in the bottom right corner. Lovely!
My MIL has given us some neat eggs over the years, too, and I love them so much. Easter is probably my favorite holiday next to Christmas. It's a toss up.
If you get a chance, please email me. I have something I want to ask you. I would email you, but I am unable to email with my computer because the "geeks" didn't install a default email thingy where I can click and email.
XO,
Sheila :-)
