The Best of Friends
by Jeannie Hand-Stuart
There's nothing as nice
As a new Teddy Bear.
To tickle and cuddle
And take everywhere
To share all your secrets,
Your laughter and tears
To keep by your side
Through seasons and years
There's nothing as nice
As a new Teddy Bear...
Except for an old one
With memories to share.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. These cuddly pink ribbon bears are being offered at my local grocery in exchange for a donation for breast cancer research . Let's all work together to spread awareness that early detection saves lives.

The summer we married, my husband was in graduate school, and I was employed as a teacher. We took a portion of our savings that summer and purchased a sailboat. We christened our Catalina 22, “Hyacinths For The Soul” after Saadi’s poem. Our "Hyacinths" provided years of pleasure.

Thanks for stopping by my pink garden. You asked if I had ever been to Round Top...not yet. Dixie and I almost went this summer but something came up.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed scrolling through your place starting with the sweet pink bears. Past all the wonderful fall decorations through the sixteen flamingos, all the way down to the flowing creek. Love to see the white water in place of the trickling wet ribbon. I think it was a great Met Monday post ;-)
Hi, Sarah,
ReplyDeleteYour teddy bear brings back a sweet childhood memory for me. My favorite book as a little girl was a Little Golden Book about a teddy bear. My mother read it to me so much, I had the book memorized. Thank you for the reminder about breast cancer and the need for regular mammograms. Happy Pink Saturday to you!! Vicki
I featured you on my blog as a pink place to visit! Love your blog!!!

I love this - what a wonderful poem. And thanks for visiting me - so glad you like that old book. I better finish scanning everything before it totally disintegrates - I had to keep dusting the bits off the scanner screen.
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday!
What a gorgeous picture and a great thing to promote Breast Cancer awareness! My sis-in-law passed away with the disease, as did my aunt and several close friends, so it has touched my life in many ways. I am a cancer survivor and I know that the cure is on the horizon.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
What a lovely idea for Pink Saturday! I have to find a logo for breast cancer month to add to my sidebar.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
I love teddy bears and collect them. I don't have a pink one but I do have a bright green one that was found by a dear friend on an ocean beach after he floated ashore covered in tar. She cleaned him and gave him to us. We named him Tilloo, after the cay on the beach where he landed. These pink fellows are so cute.....or they maybe pink lady bears? I always look at their eyes to see their true souls. Call me crazy but I love them. Happy Pink and rosy Saturday. You made me smile.
ReplyDeleteSam

ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday! The bears are approriate for this Pink Sat. and breast cancer awarness.
