Memorial Day All American Cookout

~ Memorial Day ~

Honoring Those Who Bravely Serve Our Country

Many Americans will perhaps

celebrate this holiday with a picnic.

Or set a table in

red, white, and blue.

Perhaps something

with stars and stripes, too.

Patriotic colors to

show our pride in America.

An All Star Menu

Hamburgers and hot dogs

cooked on the grill.

Mustards and Mayonaise

Compliment that juicy

burger right off the grill.

Homemade Potato Fries

Pinto Beans

Healthy Slaw

Fresh Corn on the Cob

The All American Cookout

Ending with a sweet treat.

Happy Memorial Day to all Americans!

The summer we married, my husband was in graduate school, and I was employed as a teacher. We took a portion of our savings that summer and purchased a sailboat. We christened our Catalina 22, “Hyacinths For The Soul” after Saadi’s poem. Our "Hyacinths" provided years of pleasure.

  9. Cold and rainy here, but we are so busy packing boxes for Polly's big move next week, that there is no time to have a picnic or BBQ, even if we could. So, we are glad to share your picnic vicariously, and make do with that.
    Thanks for the lovely meal!
Hope you have a wonderful holiday.

  17. It looks very patriotic, Sarah and the food looks good! Are pinto beans the same as what we Yanks call Baked Beans?
I made them for 150 yesterday for our beach comminity picnic! I don't eat them but I made 19lbs, and they were gone!
Hope you are enjoying the weekend. The family is out on the boat and then will be back for dinner. I stayed home and cooked. A little too rough for me!

  47. We didn't cook out - it was so hot here (today 98 expected!) that we opted for dinner in a nice restaurant using Bob's veteran discount for memorial Day!! We raised a glass to all who have given so much for this country....and prayed for those still fighting.

I've much to catch up with - been busy since getting back last week. Guess I'm always busy - hopefully that's a good thing!

Will be in touch - have a little surprise for you dear!
