Afternoon Tea French Style

Come in from the cold and rain
and join me for a cup of tea.

A tea tray awaits as the twinkle of
Christmas tree lights sets a cozy mood.

You might spot a reindeer or two or three
resting among vintage bottlebrush trees.

Mirage Freres ~ Esprit de Noel
A thoughtful early Christmas gift from
a friend who recently visited Paris.
A favorite MacKenzie-Childs "High Tea" stack is the perfect
choice for steeping this festive, spicy black tea.

Our petite teacups were part of my summer treat to myself
when I discovered the beautiful shop, Finzeas of Beachant,
in the charming hillcountry town of Boerne, Texas.

I think they are perfect with these special petal pink napkins.
I say "special" because these linens were a wedding gift
some 44+ years ago, and are cherished as such.
Do you have cherished wedding gifts that you still use?

The reindeer demitasse spoons were found last December
in Kansas City at, The French Market.
By Sabre, Paris

A vintage silver scuttle offers petit hearts to sweeten our tea.
Belle de Sucre, another uniquely French product.

The little reindeer cookies are a lemon flavored shortbread
cookie from our local La Madeleine Bakery.
Look closely at how the clever baker took a gingerbreadman
cookie cutter and turned it upside down to create the head of a deer.

The photos reflect our dreary low light day,
but I sincerely hope you have enjoyed my virtual
French teatime by the twinkle of Christmas lights.

The summer we married, my husband was in graduate school, and I was employed as a teacher. We took a portion of our savings that summer and purchased a sailboat. We christened our Catalina 22, “Hyacinths For The Soul” after Saadi’s poem. Our "Hyacinths" provided years of pleasure.

  4. Dearest Sarah,
That is a perfect setting for a special French touch tea on a dark and dreary day.
Yesterday when I drove to Atlanta for shopping (food) it was clear and sunny and now it is cold and dark... rain coming soon I guess.
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  11. Lovely tea setting Sarah. Wish I could join you, oh the fun it would be! I adore this pattern and especially the "stack" and the new finds. The reindeer and bottle brush tree makes such a festive tray. The Mirage Freres ~ Esprit de Noel sure makes the dreary days brighter! We have the dark and dreary today, so I want to set up a tea treat. Can't believe how fast Christmas is approaching!

  13. Sarah, your Christmas tea is lovely. Love the tea stack, how special that is. Your pieces are so pretty. A cozy tea on a dreary day brightens our souls. How clever the beer used the gingerbread cutout for the reindeer head. I bet they are quite yummy. A beautiful setting to enjoy a special cup of tea.

I so enjoy seeing you share your MC things. It always makes me smile.

Those reindeer cookies upside down gingerbread men? How are people so clever! Seriously - never in a trillion winters would I EVER think of doing that. Amazing.

And I ADORE your sweet "sucre," specially made sugars for teatime is a weakness for sure-
heart shaped and pink ones especially nice.

I hope you are enjoying all the season has to offer.

    Big big hugs. ♥
