Christmas Memories ~ 2012

The aroma of chocolate

filled our home this Christmas Eve.

Earlier in the season, vintage chocolate moulds

and their faux counterparts found their

way to our home for a holiday vignette on the sideboard.

They sparked the theme

for our Christmas Eve table with

a centerpiece of real Chocolate Santas.

Each napkin was hand monogramed

by my husband's grandmother.

The summer we married, my husband was in graduate school, and I was employed as a teacher. We took a portion of our savings that summer and purchased a sailboat. We christened our Catalina 22, “Hyacinths For The Soul” after Saadi’s poem. Our "Hyacinths" provided years of pleasure.

  5. I had to smile at your special dinner, as it is so much like the meal I am preparing for my husband's birthday, tomorrow. Rinder rouladen, roasted root vegetables, garlic mashed potatoes and green beans gremolata (Ina's newest book!) I call it my 'man's meal' as every man loves it.
Your table and collections are all so beautiful. Each little vignette a delight to see. I love the little needlepoint Santas!

  51. Hi Sarah, This is a beautiful post! You have some amazing collections. I started out by inhaling to see if I could catch a whiff of that chocolate. I can never resist. And the sleigh bells are gorgeous. I am wondering if they are purely decorative or if they could be used? I see that they are faience so I'm not sure. Of course the tartan candles and dishes are so appealing too and the monogrammed napkin is truly a treasure. Happy New Year! Linda
