In MARY POPPINS the little old bird lady stands on the steps of Saint Paul's selling her bags of crumbs.
She beckons the crowd to come buy her bags for a tuppence.
She gently pleads for help to feed the little creatures and thus show them that we care.
She tells us that the birds are hungry. They need our help to feed their young.
Her bags of feed are not expensive. She sells them for just a tuppence.
As the birds circle over head and fill the sky, she calls out to us.
Each time someone buys a bag to feed the little birds, the saints and apostles look down with gratitude.
Original Oil by Fatima Ronquillo
Though she speaks but a few words, she calls to each of us
"Help feed the birds."
Inspiration for this post was taken from one of my favorite songs: Mary Poppins' Feed the Birds.

I loved that song and sang it over and over when I was a little girl. My hubby and I do feed the birds in our yard. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love that oil painting. And I'm amazed how you can do so much in one post for several different blog parties you're participating in! You go girl.
ReplyDeleteThat was very sweet - and now I have the song in my head too!
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah,
ReplyDeleteNow I'll be in Mary Poppins mode all day! You know that I already do feed the birds every day, in fact I have just come in from the feeding the moorhens on the pond in the back garden.
Have a wonderful weekend, I so wish we were getting ready for your arrival on Monday, c'est la vie.
Hugs to Mr A & you of course.
Maggie
Love all of your figurines. They are lovely and so perfect for the song. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteLove the bird feeders. We have lots in our yard. I am always searching for new ones.
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday.
Oh Sarah, what a clever post! All of your figurines are beautiful and make perfect illustrations for your commentary. I love this post, and I am so glad you linked it to Favorite Things. laurie
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely remembrance of Mary Poppins. All of your figurines are just beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah,
ReplyDeleteAnother lovely post. Do you see many different types of birds where you live? My sons love feeding the birds and we have many bird feeders. The only downside is the other animals that are attracted to them. We have raccoons that visit at night and knock down feeders. There are also possums around. Do you have problems like this? Have a wonderful Pink Saturday.
Hugs,
Carey
The painting is exquisite and your figurines are lovely, Sarah. About the teapot, I got the set which also included a coffee pot from Ebay. It's old, an antique and I was so happy to win it. I am trying to find my post about it to give you more info but I cannot find it. All I can remember is the marking "EPNS" at the bottom. I love the set, does not tarnish much, I hardly ever polish it....Christine
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning painting. The figurines are so pretty....
ReplyDeleteI had forgotten about that song ... now its running through my head ... so thanks for the lovely reminder!
ReplyDeleteLove all the little bird feeders...and Mary Poppins!
ReplyDeleteYou have the most wonderful treasures in your home and you sure do know how to weave a story!! These pieces are divine!! Also...who the heck can use 'Barrel of Monkeys' the way that you did...the pillow is fabulous....you are amazing!
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday xOxO Nerina
I so love this song from Mary Poppins and loved to sing it as a child(I'll probably be singing it the rest of the day!). Lovely figurines and the oil is beautiful!!

What a nice post!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend.
That little "bird feeder" is just precious!
ReplyDeleteSherry @ A Happy Valentine
That was very sweet! Such lovely figurines. We can't feed the birds..the seagulls flock in and eat it all..they are nasty! :(
ReplyDeleteThis is so lovely Sarah! I often have bird feeder set up in my backyard for the native birds. I think the possums might attack it sometimes but I guess that doesn't matter.
ReplyDeleteCoincidentally, at my son's school assembly on Friday the 2 graders did a song all about another song from Mary Poppins with the very long word and that I have no chance of spelling correctly! It was very cute!
Best wishes always,
Natasha.
Thanks for the visit. i love the Mary poppins and feeding the birds.
ReplyDeleteWill be back again to visit.
Nice pinks!
ReplyDeleteSorry for being here so late today- my son is at the prom and we spent all day getting ready... and who said boys were low maintenance? haha!
Have a super week!
Happy PS!

"Do these shoes match this purse?"
Good Sunday morning to you, Sarah!
ReplyDeleteWe have LOTS of bird feeding going on here at the farm. Alas, I am on pins and needles for the hummingbirds to return--they are running LATE this year!!
Thanks for sharing with us today!
I'll be humming it all day long, too! :-)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty collection of little birdies & feeders. Lovely post, Sarah.
Sarah...sorry I haven't been around much....your little bird seed figurines are so cute...what a great post!
ReplyDeleteJust a tad bit late but Happy Pink Saturday. I have enjoyed watching the birds grab bits and pieces of Ben's (my dog) fur. When I brush him I save the fur and put it in a basket on the picnic table. The birds love it. :)
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a young girl, my father managed theatre, thus a lot of my "off" time was spent seeing movies again and again. Mary Poppins was one i saw over 30 times. :) I know the dialogue by heart and every time I heart sweet Julie Andrews voice it brings a sweet memory to mind.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog -- you just have to start joining us on Fridays as your blog is simply Beautiful on every post.
Sincerely...
Claudia
So creative. Love it! What a great movie and musical.

ReplyDeleteHello Sarah!
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by for awhile! You know that scene where the old lady is feeding the birds has always been one of my most favorite scenes in the movie Mary Poppins. I loved the song. As a little girl I remember feeling sad as she was feeding the birds. But of course as I grew older... I understood her love of giving. Thank you for the sweet memory!! Hugs!
Hi Sarah!
