Hello, December!
Welcome to our
Christmas Tablescape Bloghop
with links to 18 different
holiday tablescapes.
First let's give a big shout out and thank you to our leader, Rita @ Panoply, the lady who keeps us organized and on track.
We have 18 tabletop stylists joining the hop today.
Links are at the bottom of this post.
Cooler weather has finally arrived, and I've
been enjoying some cozy evenings by the fire.
I often set a small tray table in the living room
and enjoy a leisure meal by the warmth of a fire.
I bring out some favorite china to create a pretty stack. One might think that is a lot of trouble for dining alone,
but I learned long ago that setting a special place is important
even if it's just one or two dining. Use the good stuff!
Yes, that even includes a plate topper for added elegance! This exquisite Limoges box is larger than most,
and the partridge is exquisite in detail.
The china is Herend.
I typically use our cherished wedding stems for their elegant look and gorgeous amber hue.
A pot of white cyclamen serves as flowers for my tray
while they await planting in outdoor containers for winter.
made in Ukraine, are a nod to the holidays ahead.
I had a little corner space on the tray, so I added my Wild pheasants, partridges, and grouse
are often times served during the holidays.
I have a little trick for using a pretty linen tablecloth on a tray. I simply pull the center side through the
tray handle to make a slight ruffle.
Then I added a vintage MacKenzie-Childs
placemat draped over the front edge of the tray.
It's all in the details!
A table or tray for one can be just as special
and festive as a full table for a dinner party.
Last year I created the same ambiance in the dining room, with an added pair of lamps as part of the centerpiece.
I used my Arte Italica linen runner down the center, and added Arte ruffled velvet place mats in two shades of pink.Napkins were hand painted by an artist in San Miguel, Mexico.
The dish stack began with cabbage leaf chargers by Bordallo Pinneiro, followed by Williams-Sonoma dinner and salad plates in Famille Rose with pink rims, and topped with a festive Bordallo Pinneiro Christmas tree dish.
I used a Bauble Stocking on each plate to hold the flatware, adding sprigs of preserved boxwood for interest..
If you follow along at Hyacinths and Instagram, you might recall that I'm a passionate supporter of Bauble Stockings, the small female run business that produces and sellsthese exquisite needlepoint mini stockings. The stockings are made in Haiti in partnership with Good Threads Needlepoint, a B Corp certified team that provides fair-wages and support for single moms in Haiti. You can read the history and story of the brand here.
Each year new designs are offered in collaboration with guest artists.
I was thrilled to see that Mary Engelbreit had
created five new designs for 2025.
As a longtime fan of Mary Engelbreit, and having lived
with her whimsical art and quotes for decades, I eagerly added a few.
I'll be featuring my new ME Bauble Stockings in a future post.
This table and the view of my Christmas tree are 2024 images. With the loss of my sister shortly before the holidays, I didn't participate in last year's Christmas Tablescape Hop. This table is but a memory now, and with Thanksgiving late this year, I'm now busy transitioning to 2025 Christmas decor. Stay tuned!

🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄Happy Holidays!

Good morning Sarah, Your trayscape looks so cozy for meal by the fire and your vintage MacKenzie-Childs placemat is a beauty! Your pink and green color palette and table for Christmas last year is SO gorgeous and I’m lovin’ those Bordallo Pinheiro Christmas tree plates! I’ve long admired your Bauble stockings that top your plate stack that hold your flatware…such a festive touch and they could hold a sweet surprise inside or gift card too for a family member. I love the glimpse of your tree in your sunroom from last year! If you’re inspired this year, I’d love a closer look at your beautiful ornaments and details! As always, it’s a treat to hop with you and join at the table. Wishing you a Merry Tuesday 🎄❤️
ReplyDeleteSarah, what a beautiful gift to yourself in setting that gorgeous table for one by the fireplace! Herend china, gorgeous crystal, and MacKenzie-Childs brands are all luxuriously applied here. I love your idea of the bunched ruffle and placemat over the edge.
ReplyDeleteLast year's tablesetting is equally luxurious in details. The Arte Italica and Bauble brands bring beautiful craftsmanship and personalized detail to the place settings. I love those Bordallo Christmas tree plates on the stack!
Sarah, as always, the beautiful details of your tablescapes always inspires me. Thank you for joining again this year and sharing the two for one of what we understandably missed from last year. Merry December!
Lovin' your "tray for one". It's wonderful that you treat yourself well and I agree "to use the good stuff". I love your attention to detail in all of your settings and it's fun to peek closer to your treasures! Have a wonderful holiday season!
ReplyDeleteGood morning Sarah! I love your gorgeous tray by the fireplace in your lovely living room. I agree with Rita, it is a gift to yourself! The Limoges box is stunning as well as the Herend china. When we visited Budapest a couple of years ago, I was amazed at the outdoor fountains fashioned and made by Herend! The vintage MKC placemat is perfect. Thank you for sharing your gorgeous pink and green table from last year. It is truly beautiful! The Bordallo Christmas tree dish with the exquisite Bauble stocking on top is lovely. Famille Rose with the pink border and the Arte Italica CLD pink velvet placemats remind me that pink is perfect for Christmas. The view of your tree from last year is so festive and pretty! Sarah, I sound like a broken record, but your attention to detail inspires me! Wishing you Joy during this Christmas season, my friend!
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Sarah! The setting you have created by the fireplace is absolutely gorgeous! I am swooning over the pretty French chair. I also spotted the Limoge pheasant box right away. He is so beautiful and pairs perfectly with the striking MacKenzie Childs pheasants. Your dining room setting is gorgeous as well. You have inspired me to use my Famille Rose dishes for a Christmas setting. Pairing them with festive holiday touches creates such a beautiful Christmas table. Sweet friend, I wish you a very blessed and happy Christmas season. Shannon@Belle Bleu Interiors
ReplyDeleteHow absolutely charming! A table for one by the fire can be quite lovely. That pheasant Limoges box is FABULOUS! I love pheasants and Limoges boxes, so this really turned my head. I have also been stalking those Bordallo Pinneiro Christmas tree dishes, and now I know that I want them.

Lovely to treat yourself with an exquisite table setting by the fireplace, Sarah. It's just lovely. The Herend china is beautiful in its simple ivory and gold palate. The partridge on the lime box is so detailed and is a beautiful accompaniment to the setting.
ReplyDeleteYour table from last year is so pretty and I love the Bauble stockings. They are so intricate and beautifully rendered. Wishing you and your family a joyous Christmas season.

Sarah I am so glad you featured your table for one...I learned that the hard way when I lost my husband almost 25 years ago. I "saved" beautiful "things" for a special occasion that never happened...so I learned to appreciate and use everything and enjoy the moment. Thank you for sharing. And thank you for sharing your lovely pink and green table from last year...as well as your gorgeous tree. How nice to sit by a fire using your wonderful ideas such as a place mat draped on the side and the ruffled tablecloth. The little pheasant is perfect as an extra treat for the eyes. Merry Christmas and abundant Blessings not only at this time of year but all year long.🎄❤️🎄
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah, your elegant setting for one is so charming and I am completely smitten with the beautiful needlepoint stockings at each place setting of your festive table! Merry Christmas to you!
ReplyDeleteSarah, your beautifully set table tray for one is gorgeous and cozy. I agree, even setting a placesetting for one should be inviting and comforting, especially when it is next to a warm, glowing fireplace. I love your choice of colors and fowl. They are gorgeous pieces that really dress up the tray. I also enjoyed your tablesetting of Christmas past. The pink and green combination is so rich and welcoming. The little stockings to hold the flatware are so perfect. I can see why you shop for them at the specialty store. Your amber glassware is so exquisite. Have a wonderful holiday.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your cozy and elegant tray for one, Sarah! I think it's important to sometimes treat ourselves to to beauty and comfort. Your Limoges box is so perfect with your MacKenzie-Childs pheasant pair. And everything looks so pretty with your wedding stemware. I also like the added touch of the potted cyclamen. I've started using them at Christmas for decor after I developed an allergy to Poinsettias. Thanks for telling us about your trick with the tray and linen tablecloth. Brilliant! Merry Christmas, Sweet Friend!
ReplyDeleteSarah, what a fabulous idea to set a stunning tray for yourself by the fire. The Limoges box is beautiful and the Herend china is so lovely. The pheasant pair is perfect too and I love your idea of pulling the center of the tablecloth through the tray handle to make a little ruffle. Last year's table is stunning, especially with your gorgeous tree in the background. The Bauble stockings are adorable and what a great cause - I must check it out. Thank you for sharing all this loveliness and wishing you a Merry December and a wonderful holiday season!
ReplyDeleteIt’s important that we honor ourselves with a beautiful setting, Sarah, and cherish our memories of our loved ones. Your cozy setting by your fire is so inviting and charming. What a lovely trick you do with the tablecloth to add a ruffle. The cyclamen is a pretty, fresh addition to your tray. I dud enjoy seeing last years gorgeous table, too.
ReplyDeleteHappy December!
Sarah, I can feel the warmth of your fire now! Who wouldn’t enjoy such a table of loveliness sitting next to them as they enjoy watching the light of the flames bouncing around such a cozy setting?! Your cyclamen is the perfect complement to the special pieces you chose. I look forward to seeing the Mary Englebright edition of your beautiful Bauble Stockings!! I hope you have a very blessed Christmas and a happy and healthy new year♥️
