Let's Dish ~ Santa Fe Setting for Two




Let's Dish 


~ A Simple Santa Fe Inspired Tablesetting ~


I shared this table last year,


 but in light of my recent trip to Santa Fe 


I decided to feature it again.  


I hope you don't mind.







As the sun sets on the beautiful

Sangre de Cristo Mountains of Santa Fe . . .






The table is set for an impromptu dinner for two.





Candlelight and perhaps a zesty Margarita on the rocks.






The vibrant woven threads of a Mexican serape,

Talavera pottery, and flatware with a "twist"

provides interest and texture to the glass top table.






White cotton napkins tucked in small bowls,

one mustard yellow - the other rusty red . . .







Add a pop of bright color to the white dinner plates

rimmed in indigo and topped with fanciful floral salad plates.






A quiet spot for evening 


conversation with one's companion . . .







As each reflect on the day spent enjoying

the sights, sounds, and flavors of Santa Fe.


~ Tip and Tidbits ~


When you find yourself with the need to set an impromptu table, 

look around you for inspiration.  A tray of candles can easily 

substitute for flowers and offer beautiful ambiance.  No table cloth 

or placemats handy - simply use a textile such as this Mexican 

serape, or pull a scarf or throw into service.

Fire Works French Toast

It's the 4th of July!
What better way to start the day 
than with French Toast before 
heading off to the neighborhood parade.

Of course you'll want to set your tray 
with red, white, and blue details.

A crisp linen napkin .   .   .

Held by a vintage silver napkin ring, 
will make one's breakfast taste even better.  

It's a perfect setting for thick, 
rich French Toast with a side of sausage.

I topped mine off with fresh blueberries, blackberries, and whipped cream, but I like the idea of adding red, white, and blue sprinkles.

Santa Fe ~ A Favorite Destination





Santa Fe, New Mexico

is a favorite get away destination for me.

Only 1 hour and 20 minutes from Dallas on American Eagle.




New Mexico ~ Land of Enchantment

I've been enchanted with Santa Fe 

since I was a child when my family 

would stop here on summer vacations on our way to Colorado.




Santa Fe is a unique experience 

with first class art galleries, delicious cuisine, 

cultural activities, outdoor adventures, and amazing shopping.





Adobe structures with charming 

courtyards have a style all their own  

with textures and colors that can make my heart sing.





A beautiful town plaza, 

unique and sometimes quirky shops, 

and authentic New Mexican 

cuisine lure me back time and again.




Santa Fe is a perfect destination for a variety of 

activities or simply rest and relaxation.




Blue skies, incredible vistas, 

and evening sunsets not to be missed.

Let's Dish ~ Quick & Easy Patriotic Tablescape

Summer travels have left little time to set a table this week, 
So Let's Dish about a quick and easy tablescape of patriotic colors 
with a nod to the upcoming Independence Day Celebrations.


Red, white, and blue of course!
Red woven mats from World Market.
Blue pin striped chargers 
made in Portugal are from Neiman Marcus.
Dinner plates are in the Blue Room series by Spode 
and are topped with Wedgewood salad plates in Nantucket Basket.
Flatware was found at William Sonoma.

Red napkins backed in blue and white
 gingham rest within footed 
stars and stripes dessert cups by Pfaltzgraff.


The centerpiece is simply a 
cachepot filled with ivy and miniature flags.  
The tapers of stars and stripes on 
either side are held by 
pewter candle holders within glass hurricanes.
Quick and Easy!

Let's Dish ~ Bay House Blues


A recent trip to Galveston 

to spend a few days at a lovely home on the bay

was the inspiration for this post.




Want to peek into the kitchen cabinets?




They are full of colorful glass dishes 

that reflect the cool colors of the ocean.



Not only are these dishes full of color,

they also bring wonderful texture to a table.



Glassware in clear blue 

shimmers like the deep blue waters.




Clear wine stems march alongside 


blue margarita glasses on the windowsill

as they reflect light and a view of the water in the distance.



While these colorful tumblers 

make me think of a beach umbrella.




Tumblers with a shell motif offer a bit of


contrast to the seafoam greens and blues.




More umbrella stripes for the butter dish.




To accent the vibrant colors of the sea.




Ceramic mugs of seafoam blue 


and wavy sides are a perfect fit. 




Colorful Fish 




Clear glass snack plates 

take on the color of these paper napkins.




More accents of various textures


 can be found on the table.




Woven placemats the color of sand, 

hold chargers in a deep teal, that in 

turn hold the various colorful glass dinner plates.




Paper napkins are easy 

and convenient for a seaside abode.




While seashell napkin rings



Are like jewels on the linen napkins

at more formal dining occasions.



Acrylic flatware is easy, 

yet offers the elegant look of sea glass.
