~Have a Heart ~

The happy, whimsical art of Mary Engelbreit has
long delighted many of us and filled our lives with joy.

"Have a Heart"
Each of Mary's witty sayings brings a smile to
my face, and this is certainly among one of my favorites!

This card is from 1994.

The little heart shaped box is
dated 1996 by Michael and Co.

Both inspired this needlepoint pillow
that I stitched all those many years ago.

With oodles of decorative stitches to create texture and dimension,
this project offered hours of fun with my needle in hand.

Here it is again on a
pinkolicious heart shaped tin.
You can click here to see my other
Mary Engelbreit valentine tins in a previous post.

Plate, 1988, by Applause Inc.
Another of Mary's words of wisdom:
" TWO hearts are better than ONE."

There's no better time to share
one's heart than on Valentine's Day.

And a heart shaped box full of chocolates
is often the perfect valentine.

I've gathered my Mary Engelbreit valentine boxes together to share with you today. This tray vignette served as a centerpiece here for a chocolate inspired Valentine's Day table set for two.

Collected through the years, each box is made of paper
and ready to fill with one's own SURPRISE.

This one proclaims another
of my favorite M.E. sayings.

Sweetie Pie
is too cute for words.

LOVE and another with
Ann Estelle and her friend, Gracie sharing a secret.

ALWAYS and the reverse of the
Ann Estelle and Gracie box above,
"Life has no blessing like a good friend."

PUT YOUR HEART IN IT ~ Always the best of advice.

The front of the Have a Heart Box shown above
and a sweet garden of hearts box:
"Sow good services, sweet
remembrances will grow from them."

I think we'll all agree, Mary Engelbreit is the
Queen of Hearts!

Two new designs for this year with Mary's
stylized flowers and checkerboard patterns.

Happy Valentine's Day!
Have a heart before heading over to the following parties.

The summer we married, my husband was in graduate school, and I was employed as a teacher. We took a portion of our savings that summer and purchased a sailboat. We christened our Catalina 22, “Hyacinths For The Soul” after Saadi’s poem. Our "Hyacinths" provided years of pleasure.

  6. What a fabulous collection of ME hearts Sarah - her art has always been so cheerful and uplifting. The pillow you stitched is beautiful - a treasure for certain.

Hope all is well there after yet another storm. Bob was delayed in Dallas while de-icing was necessary on Wed. evening, but made it home safely thank goodness. He had great weather in LA and enjoyed dinner while the Pacific lapped at his feet at Laguna Beach - lucky guy!

I'm off to visit Paula in San Francisco next week - hope I get good weather for the adventures planned!

    Happy weekend dear.

  23. Mary is, indeed, the Queen of Hearts! I love the two little girls whispering, and some years ago sent the card to my sister because if made me think of the two of us - one fair and one dark-haired - as we shared girlhood secrets.

  34. Your collection of ME items is wonderful! I love her, too. The very first item of hers that I bought was her Christmas card that had Santa on it with the word "Believe". In fact, she was in KC for a book signing a few years ago and I had her sign it for me. She's a beautiful and gracious lady in real life...and an amazing talent.

You did a wonderful job on that pillow!!!

Hope you have a great Pink Saturday and a terrific Valentine's Day!

  45. Oh my word, these are all wonderful. How fun.

You asked about your background, believe me I am so not very tech savvy, however I think all you need to do is go to your template in Design and there you will find a spot that says background color. You can change it back there. I have no idea why things disappear sometimes. Hope this helps. Hugs, Marty
