Welcome to the 26th edition of
Tales of the Traveling Tote.
And a trip to Hill Country Galleria to meet up with our
MacKenzie-Childs loving friend, Pamela.
Miss Meri Mac and I were eager to try out a new French Bakery.
Lobster Shrimp Roll French Bun
FoliePop's is a French Pastry and Coffee House.
"FoliePop's is the home to never-seen customizable pastries
and savories and signature recipes handcrafted with French excellence and savoir faire in the heart of Austin, Texas!"
You pick your base, you pick your filling,
and you melt your cheese.
These petite savories are the perfect light lunch!
Madeleine with Lemon and a Pop of Caramel and
Red Velvet with Cremé Brulée and a Pop of Strawberry.
For the Folie Pop you pick your base,
add your cremé, and top it off with a pop.
When ready to eat, you pop the Pop!
Yummy Goodness!
Kudos to Chef Antoine and Audrey,
the creative duo behind this unique bakery.
You'll find a complete look at FoliePop's here.
Miss Meri Mac and I already have plans
to visit again for Pamela's birthday.
January brings my favorite winter Antique Show.
Miss Meri Mac and I rarely miss this show,
and have been known to drive over in snowy conditions.
Not so with COVID. Still being cautious!
January also brought a winter snow!
When February arrived, there was a dire message from
Punxsutawney Phil. "Winter was definitely not over!"
Texas plunged into historic freezing temps.
Many across the state were without power and
water for much of the duration.
By Valentine's Day, we had more snow
and record single digits for Austin.
The unprecedented winter storm gripped the state of TX for over a week with snow and ice. But we survived! I began calling it the
"Frozen Tundra of Texas!"
Sadie was not a fan,
and preferred to stay indoors.
For Miss Meri Mac and me, it was a unique adventure.

painted a silver teapot for me with my favorite black and white.
I like to use it as a container for fresh cut flowers.
Though I filled it with anemones rather than tulips,
it reminds me of our giveaway for this edition.

The summer we married, my husband was in graduate school, and I was employed as a teacher. We took a portion of our savings that summer and purchased a sailboat. We christened our Catalina 22, “Hyacinths For The Soul” after Saadi’s poem. Our "Hyacinths" provided years of pleasure.

Sarah, I had to chuckle at ‘the weather can cause you to break a sweat one day, and the next you are breaking out the sweaters’ :) You’ve not only had sweater weather but parka weather too and your Courtly Check boots certainly came in handy! FoliePops sounds divine, what a delicious concept. Glad the snow is gone and it’s warmed back up for you and Miss Sadie. Happy March ♥
ReplyDeleteSarah, you are my weather girl! I listen when you talk, we always get your weather a day or so later. Yes, two inches here and ever so cold. Looks like you had a lot more snow. I can't say that I blame Sadie for not wanting to go out, neither did I. The new bakery sounds delightful and love the FollePops. Those boot were perfect for the snow. So sorry for all the problems in Texas from this storm. Glad you were safe. Happy March!
ReplyDeleteSuch cute pics Sarah:) Your lime green mask to go with MMM:)♥Sadie the snowbunny..You're lucky to get out..we cannot do that yet..soon...
ReplyDeleteSarah, you are tres chic at FoliePop's in the photo with Audrey! Your snow day with Sadie is darling. And yes, your teapot with anemones (love!) looks just like our giveaway. Like you, I am so ready for spring and to see the end of winter. We are experiencing flooding in our area right now, with concerns for certain family members in high risk areas. March certainly is coming in like a lion. I hope she calms down very soon. Happy March!
ReplyDeleteOoo la la Sarah, FoliePop's sounds like it's full of divine treats! What a fun place to meet a friend! So glad your awful snow-in is finally over, please don't send any more winter storms our way! Poor Sadie, dogs do get confused in snowy weather! Winter in the South is always crazy, it was 85 in Birmingham yesterday! I love Patti's painted tea pot, I have a few ideas for MKC knock offs I want to paint too.I hope you don't need your cute boots for anything more than a little rain from now on!
ReplyDeleteJenna
Sadie is a smart young lady not being a fan of the crazy Texas winter storm! I have been so concerned about you...I emailed you trying to check-up on you. I was concerned y'all might have lost power and water like my friends in San Antonio. Your photos are pretty.....Austin looks like a winter wonderland. And those treats! Oh, my! I gave up treats and desserts for Lent, but it's still fun seeing all the fun food posts from the TTT ladies! Rabbit rabbit!
ReplyDeleteAwww Sadie is a cute snow bunny. What a joy to get out and enjoy some yummy treats. you have the best little shops. This winter has been so devastating to so many. I am glad you did not lose power. Boiling your water is tough. Love your cute boots in the snow along with your sweet MKC mug. Love the painted teapot Patti painted. So pretty filled with lovely flowers. Happy March.
ReplyDeleteHappy March and hopefully spring weather. What a month you just had!! How wonderful the French bakery looks and the food looks delicious, such a nice outing. I don’t blame Sadie for preferring the warmth inside. I love the snow photos...
ReplyDeleteHonestly, that tote has a much more exciting life than I do, not to mention that it wears some darling jewelry. That French bakery is calling my name.
ReplyDeleteI so wish I could go with you on your foodie adventures, Sarah! Folie Pops looks like such a fun spot for savory and sweet treats. You looked fashionable as ever posing with the owner.
ReplyDeleteWe certainly will remember this winter! I can see that Miss Sadie wasn't a fan either!
I am still amazed that you get snow!! FolliePops looks like a fun place to enjoy a treat! I don't blame Sadie for wanting to be inside - I feel the same!! But I will say our totes always like a snowy photo op! So happy you are still enjoying the painted tea pot!
ReplyDeleteI love each and every photo. Your snow is beautiful but I suspect it got old very fast! I was thinking of my Texas friends when that hit. Sadie is so darned adorable! You two look great! I long for the day when I can hit a French bakery (or any bakery!) for a treat with a friend. It looks like a wonderful time.
ReplyDeleteLots of yummy birthday fun! My son's birthday is right around that same time of year.
ReplyDeleteDearest Sarah,
ReplyDeleteSadie is smart and knows how to stay cozy and warm; can't blame her for not wanting to go outside!
What a lovely French Bakery. Wishing the young couple all the success and hope they manage with the Covid lockdowns.
Excellent photos and glad that freeze and snow era is over for you.
Hugs,
Mariette
So glad to see you survived the really atrocious weather that hit Texas. Bob and I were thinking of you, M and Sadie, and hoping all was well and you were safe! You look so cute in your warm knit hat - Sadie not so happy though!
ReplyDeleteStay well - and be safe.
Hugs - Mary
Sarah you made the most of the craziness with the snow! Hope it is sunny and beautiful from here on.
ReplyDeleteThe thing I love about visiting my sister in Texas the most is the food and you always have the best places. My mouth is just watering. Sounds like you had lots and lots of fun.
Sarah, you look darling in your lime green mask. Sadie is a smart girl for not wanting to go out in the snow since it is so foreign to her. You look great in the winter hat! The new bakery sounds delightful! Glad you were safe during the storm. Happy March!
ReplyDeleteSarah, nice to see the tote has been doing a little traveling even in this cold weather. Love the boots!
ReplyDeleteWow Mrs. Meri Mac has had some adventures! That is something how you're area got such cold temps and snow! I don't blame Sadie for not liking it, especially when your belly drags through the snow! Folie Pops looks like a place I'd definitely have to visit (more than once!).
