beautiful tablescapes she creates when she
entertains her large family or friends.
Jacqueline's book is full of wonderful recipes
collected from family and friends through the years.
It begins, as the title proclaims, with desserts.
Lots of delicious desserts!
Recipes for appetizers, entrées, and soups and salads
follow up to complete the book.
My friend and fellow blogger, Linda @ More Fun Less Laundry,
also received a copy of Eat Dessert First.
We thought it would be fun to each share a special post on
one of the recipes in this fun cookbook.
My choice was Jackie's amazing
Key Lime Pie
Photo Collage, Purple Chocolate Home
You'll find Jacqueline's original post on this
dessert complete with recipe here.
Noted as "a southern comfort food", Jacqueline used her recipe
to spotlight her review of Michael Lee West's
Gone With A Handsomer Man.
The recipe works just as well for individual tarts.
Just make the graham cracker crusts in individual muffin tins.
Key Lime Tarts are the perfect summertime treat!
I took my tray of summer treats over to a friend's home.
She has a bright purple bench on her porch.
Perfect spot for honoring Purple Chocolate Home!
As Jacqueline points out in her post,
key limes are "tiny little devils".
One has to squeeze a bag full of key limes for the cup
of fresh lime juice needed for the recipe.
Oh, the wonderful
fragrance of fresh limes!
The stack of vintage porcelain plates are
Wkdbrzych, made in Poland,
and the flatware is Sir Christopher by Wallace.
The reproduction jadeite cup and cake stand were
recent finds when shopping in the quaint village of Gruene, TX.
I wish I could tell you who makes these, but they are unmarked.
I found four of the cups and the cake stand on a sale table.
They were too charming to leave behind!
Sweet whipped cream and fresh lime slices
finish off these delectable little desserts.
To quote Jacqueline's husband,
"The texture ranks right up there with the flavor!"
Thank you, Jacqueline for the gift of this wonderful cookbook.
I'll make certain to Eat Dessert First!

How special, Sarah! Your dessert tarts presentation, along with your neighbor's purple bench and your jadeite (regardless of its pedigree, who cares?!) look outstanding. That's a choice dessert for me!

ReplyDeleteHi Sarah, Your key lime tarts look like the perfect dessert for a hot summer day! I thought about making these, but then I thought about those "tiny little devils" and how many would be needed, but I do think they are worth the trouble! The scent and taste are so refreshing. Your silver bowl is the perfect place to display these little green delights. I'll have a tart on a beautiful porcelain dish, please. I can imagine Teeny sitting down with one, comfort food while waiting for her handsomer man. Linda

What a lovely review of Jacqueline's book! I love her blog!
ReplyDeleteAll I have to say is YUM!!!!! Your tart not only looks positively delicious, but also should grace the cover of a magazine!! Hope you have a wonderful weekend, sweet Sarah.
ReplyDeleteSarah, your post is delightful! I just came back from a Florida vacation, and had, hands down, the best Key Lime Pie I've ever had! So fresh, and the lime flavor was balanced just right so that it didn't overpower the overall taste. I'm with you, there's nothing like the flavor of limes. Love your Wallace flatware and that dessert tray is utterly charming, as is that lovely pillow with embroidered fruit. Thank you for the entertaining and wonderful respite!
ReplyDeleteI can almost taste those tarts. Loved the post!
ReplyDeleteLovin' your adorable little cake stand Sarah! The tarts sound great and I'm sure you'll enjoy the book:@)

Sarah, what a lovely cookbook...of course the title had me. I have always loved desserts and the key lime pie looks amazing and the presentation is fabulous! Blessings, Pam @ Everyday Living
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of making the tarts and how you displayed this on your friend's bench. Jacqueline is very talented way above my abilities! That's wonderful that you received a copy of her book. I laughed at the title of your post because I just said that when we went out for dinner the other day!
ReplyDeleteHow lucky, Sarah! The tarts look scrumptious and would be my choice. There's just something extra-special about having one's own dessert ..... and sometimes a slice of pie doesn't cut just as one hopes it will! I don't know if we can find Key Limes up here, but I am sure this would work with regular limes, but lack that extra 'fillip' of flavour.
ReplyDeleteDearest Sarah,
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post about this favorite dessert recipe from the lovely gifted book!
Your photo styling is as always, exceptional magazine worthy!
Sending you hugs and blessings for a lovely weekend.
Mariette
