Long May She WaveA table honoring Old Glory, our American Flag
Thank you for joining us today as we launch our Summer 2023 Tablescape Blog Hop Thank you to our host Rita @ Panoply, the lady who keeps us organized and on track.
The stars and stripes are a recurring theme at my table today, set in honor of National Flag Day, celebrated tomorrow, June 14th.
My younger brother was born on Flag Day, so the date has always been extra special to me.
The linens and plate stack on my table today are all from my favorite company,Arte Italica and Crown Linen Designs. The stars and stripe smaller runner, layered on top of the beautiful white and flax linen runner, is one I found on Amazon. It's not fine linen, but it helps set the stage for my theme.
I have a passion for pretty linen tea towels. I use them in my guest bath, my kitchen, and often include one tucked into my plate stacks for little extra detail.I couldn't resist ordering a pair of these Old Glory 100% European linen towels embroidered in the Ukraine.
My napkins of choice for this table are Victorian.
The cream color is perfect with the Finezza cream ceramics,
and the beautiful red embroidery is the crowning touch.
My beaded blueberry napkin rings are long ago retired
from another favorite company, MacKenzie-Childs.
The linens, both napkins and runner, pair beautifully with
Arte Italica's Finezza Cream dinner ware, which I've slowly
been adding to our home. I am totally smitten with the beautiful and intricate lace design of these handmade Italian ceramics.
I also think the vintage mother of pearl and
silver flatware are a nice compliment to the Finezza.
I added stars and stripes drink
umbrellas for a touch of whimsy.
I often use a pair of flag needlepoint luggage tags as
napkin rings, though today I added them as part of my
place card along with these cute patriotic figures.
Every table needs a touch of whimsy!
Which is why I also included a few
star shaped sparklers and red and blue Tootsie Pops.
I presented the treats along with the flatware in Bauble Stockings.
If you don't know about the darling needlepoint Bauble Stockings, you can read about them here. Kate's enthusiasm and passion for her business inspires. I've committed to support this endeavor by adding a few of these heirloom quality stockings each year, and was beyond excited to see Stars and Stripes Uncle Sam as a new design for 2023.
My Uncle Sam loving heart couldn't order this one fast enough,
and Kate kindly mailed it immediately
so I'd have it for this tablescape.
Home for the Holidays is for me a favorite
previous design because of the flag.
If you have someone with a Christmas birthday that gets lost in the holiday rush, celebrate them with a Christmas Birthday in July.
These little patriotic Bauble Stockings would be the perfect gift.
Include a special sentiment, a gift card or small gift.

My sister and I had a childhood friend whose birthday is also on Flag Day. We have long since lost touch with her, but each year wish eachother a happy Susie Dimock's birthday. 😀 Your table is beautiful! Happy Flag Day.
ReplyDeleteOh, Sarah! You have outdone yourself! I love your elegant style. You have a penchant for fine things and you select and collect them beautifully.
ReplyDeleteHow stunning your patriotic table is with the beautiful Babble stockings, CL napkins and Arte Italica plate stack, and gorgeous vintage mother of pearl cutlery. The darling touches of whimsy using patriotic stars and stripe drink umbrellas, needlepoint luggage tags, and patriotic figures create a lovely theme.I love seeing Monnie's placecard.
You always inspire. How sweet to honor your brother born on Flag Day!
So patriotic, love the Bauble stockings, and your sparkler/tootsie pop fillers. Your flag collection is quite impressive!
ReplyDeleteYou did a wonderful presentation ! Loved it all!
ReplyDeleteSarah thank you for your patriotic table and all the special touches. How thoughtful to include the Ukrainian embroidered linens. You placed 'Old Glory' at the most perfect places on your table and to share your brother's birthday on Flag Day has to make the day extra special for you. We fly the Flag all year around at our home and of course it is spotlighted at night. Because of our Florida weather, we have to replace the flag often...always aware of the proper way to dispose of it. My husband, sons, late husband, Uncles and many others served proudly in the Navy... so to say we are a Navy family would be an understatement. Enjoy your Summer and Bless you and yours.
ReplyDeleteSarah, you have the most beautiful collections. What I love most are the details that you add to every table or vignette. Like Bonnie, I admire your elegant style! The Arte Italica plate stack is gorgeous and I have long admired that pattern. The CL napkins are exquisite and the needlepoint Bauble stockings are amazing. I love the photo of you and your brother, so sweet. Thank you for your beautiful table honoring our flag. Long may she wave!!
ReplyDeleteI love a red, white and blue theme and your table is so filled with lots of patriotic whimsy! I never knew you had a brother! Happy Birthday to him! Enjoy your summer

ReplyDeleteHi Sarah, My apologies for being so late. I am slowly getting better from a virus that my loving husband decided to share. Anyway, I am sure glad I could finish viewing and commenting on all of the blogs, especially your lovely Flag Day tablescape. (By the way, Happy Birthday to your brother). What a wonderful and elegant table. I am absolutely in love with your intricately laced dinnerware. It is over the top and I would love to own a set for my own. It speaks volumes for elegance. Your decision to pair it with your elegant adorned napkins with your blueberry napkin rings is exquisite and your detailed vintage figures add to a touch of days gone by. Such beautiful work on the bauble stockings. It is a lot of work I am sure, but you can see the gorgeous love and quality that went into making it. Have a lovely summer ahead.
