The strawberries were sold in a large container,
so I filled my thrift store tureen, found many years ago.
The pure white ceramic and embossed eagles
more than made up for the missing lid and ladle.
Do you ever rescue an incomplete piece?
I've used this large bowl for green salads, vegetables,
potato salad, fresh flowers, and even mini drink containers.
Of course I have to include my signature candy dish filled
with some red, white, and blue peanut M&M candies.
I have a small collection of these silver sugar scuttles that I
enjoy using in various ways in my tabletop designs.
If you have a vintage sugar scuttle, how do you like to use it?
Look at these adorable cocktail napkins from Two's Company.
A neighbor was holding a garage sale last Friday, I of course
had to stop and shop. My sweet friend gave me two sets of these adorable Chinoiserie napkins. They are meant for Christmas, but the
red, white, and blue vibe is perfect for this tea table.
Thank you, Angela!
For the centerpiece I used a few pieces from my patriotic
stash, but the star is a new to me vintage red tin with an original
painting of an eagle and shield by Ginny Hook.
The tin has a hinged lid and easily holds a vase that I filled
with beautiful flowers bought at Trader Joe's.
Look at the exquisite detail in the art work.
The American flag shield and the gilded eagle
with wings spread tells me this artist soared with the eagles.
I'm thrilled to add this great piece of Americana folk art.
I added this patriotic Bauble Stocking to the tiered tray.
If you've followed me, you know of my passion for this small
female owned company out of Atlanta.
I've been supporting Kate for several years, ever since I
discovered her wonderful hand stitched mini stockings.
You can read about her story
here.
A few weeks ago, Kate offered this new design.
I couldn't order it quick enough, and asked Kate to ship it ASAP (which she did) so I'd have it in hand for my patriotic
table set in honor of Flag Day last Tuesday.
You can see that post
here.
I think this one would make a fun birthday gift for that child
or family member with a Christmas birthday that
gets lost in the rush of the holiday season.
July is the perfect time to celebrate their Half Birthday!
What a lovely tea time with you! I enjoyed all your vintage pieces. Your pitcher etched with stars is quite stunning. I Loved your tiered tray filled with yummies.
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you through friends Pam and Mary.
Good Morning Sarah, I’m swooning over your gorgeous flower arrangement in your beautiful painted eagle tin, what a find! Oh to have a Trader Joe’s nearby…those flowers! So many delicious treats served in your beautiful silver pieces and Queensware Wedgwood plates. Your adorable napkins displayed in your toast rack(?), candy in your sugar scuttle and beautiful bird handled server. I have rescued tureens with missing lids, as well as orphaned lids. ๐.It’s definitely iced tea weather! I hope you can stay cool. We’re humid and muggy with storms moving through, but fortunately not as hot as you are in Texas. Thank you for sharing your love for the red, white and blue and joining us for tea today. See your collections and beautiful pieces is such a treat. Love seeing sweet Sadie with her Eagle. ♥
ReplyDeleteOh, Sarah! Waving the flag over here in cheers to your liberty-themed teatime! The only thing I can think that would elevate it more is if it had been set along the river the day I spotted the bald eagle on my walk last week!
ReplyDeleteI don't have Queeensware, but yours is beautiful. The tureen with eagles and the new tin are exceptional (of course I rescue pieces like you). I love using my sugar skuttle for lavender, but the candies look regal that way! The pitcher - what a great find and eye you have for seeing that detail of stars and stripes! And let's not overlook the rest of the details in the foods, the flowers, the stockings, and those darling napkins your friend gave you. I think celebrating a half birthday for a Christmas birthday is a great idea.
I certainly enjoyed teatime with you, and am happy Mary & Pam sought you out as their guest hostess!
Rita,
DeleteI’m trying response directly from your comment on my blog post. Please let me know if you receive it.
Oh, my! When I saw your photos of the eagle, I had the very same thought. How fortunate you are to have seen one up close. I’ve never seen an eagle! I read that there were less than 300 hundred when first put on the endangered list. Now they number in the hundreds of thousands!!! Fantastic! If we humans will just be kind to the animal world!!!!
I’d love a copy of one of your photos for my files. I’d like to add it to my post with your permission.
Have a great week….Sarah
Good morning, Sarah. I am swooning over all of your fabulous patriotic details on your table. Oh my, the heat index in Austin sounds horrible. Hibiscus and mint iced tea served in the recent find of the pretty pitcher with the etched Stars and Stripes is a perfect way to beat the heat. The tiered tray of sweet and savory goodies looks delicious. I am smitten over the Queensware by Wedgwood plates, so pretty. How very sweet of your neighbor to gift you the Chinoiserie napkins that are displayed perfectly in the toast rack. The vintage red tin with an original painting of an eagle and shield is a handsome vase for flowers. I do love the Bauble stockings, I might have to start a collection. It is a pleasure to have you join us for Tea On Tuesdays, Sarah!
ReplyDeleteAgain I appreciate seeing your beautiful collections xoxo
ReplyDeleteSarah, this is stunning!!! And Sadie, oh how sweet.

Thank you, Jenna. I hope you are at the coast enjoying a cool breeze off the water. I think the star plates are some of my all time favorite MC pieces. I hope to add a few more. I like to add to my collection over time. The hibiscus mint tea was new to me. It was a gift and have to say I really like it. I also like that it is a deep red color and looks festive in a glass. Happy Summer!

The centerpiece is so striking a a wonderful addition with the gorgeous red, white and blue flowers from Trader Joes. I have never heard of a vintage sugar scuttle. How lovely. The napkins are darling. Long wave our flag.
ReplyDeleteSuch an inviting setting! The needlepoint stockings are so special and I love your sugar scuttle ( I used to have one, but no idea what happened to it). The berries look delish - we have been eating a lot of them lately. I use all my red, white and blues from Flag Day til Labor Day!
ReplyDeleteSarah, you always create the most fabulous themed tablesettings and vignettes. That vintage centerpiece is just amazing. I always love seeing the intricate designs and how you weave all the elements together. Now I have to have some red, white, and blue M&Ms!
ReplyDeleteYour tea party is so lovely. Thanks for the tip about tea because it's so much better when it isn' t watered down! I love the cocktail napkins: They work for so many holidays and celebrations.
ReplyDeleteI love iced tea (plain, please, like you!). Your table is lovely. Those little petit fours are darling but then, so is the whole setting. I love your centerpiece and all the sweet touches. Those berries look to die for!
ReplyDeleteSarah, your tea table is perfect for celebrating the Fourth of July. Iced tea is the refreshing drink enjoyed here during these hot summer months. The pitcher is a lovely find, oh my gosh, those etched Stars and Stripes! I don't have any Queensware in my dish stash but a friend has it and uses it, it's beautiful. I know those TJ's strawberries were yummy since I picked up some at my TJ's. They are a gorgeous pop of red served in your rescued white piece. I love all the little details, the stocking, vintage tin and those napkins! Now if I could only sit and sip with you! Hope you are enjoying this holiday week.....Hugs.............
