Happy Tartan Day!

~ Tartan Day ~

April 6, 2013

~ Tartan and Bluebonnets ~

We are having a beautiful spring in Texas.

A bit more tartan

recently found its way into my life.

Sharing some sister time out and about

in a few Texas antique shops,

this happy bit of tartan caught my eye.

Then I saw the

lovely brass details.

I knew immediately this

little gem was going home with me.

Price $15

All because of this French plug!

Easily fitted with an American plug,

the petite French beauty with its tartan shade

was a perfect fit for my office book shelf.

Now focus in on these.

~ iPhone Case ~

~ Wooly Scarf ~ Spectacles ~

Oh, and a touch of

Courtly Check for good measure!

last year's Tartan Parade.

Happy Tartan Day!

The summer we married, my husband was in graduate school, and I was employed as a teacher. We took a portion of our savings that summer and purchased a sailboat. We christened our Catalina 22, “Hyacinths For The Soul” after Saadi’s poem. Our "Hyacinths" provided years of pleasure.

  1. What a fun post! I love tartan, but have NOTHING at all in tartan. I have to say though, that I was most wowed by that figurine. It reminds me of Staffordshire Spill Vases that I lust after, but can never afford.

  13. Hi Sarah!
Your posts are beautiful. I love anything plaid and that lamp was a great buy. When I was in third grade I had a plaid lunch box. Wish I had it now...

  27. Bluebonnets and tartan...who would have thought? What a great combo! I have some bluebonnets in a vase on my kitchen island. I know it's sacrilege to pick them, but I guess you could say I needed, "Bluebonnets for the Soul."

I have to ask about the urn filled with scissors. What is the story? I love scissors and find that urn filled with scissors intriguing.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving such a nice comment on my blog.

I see that we both are blogging from Texas, so I just had to become your latest follower.

  29. Oh Sarah, I love that lamp and shade; I would have jumped on that in a heartbeat! :) Like you said, that plug is easily replaced and you've got a perfectly good lamp. I love all your tartan, especially the Scotties. :)

I had intended to do a post this year for Tartan Day, but just couldn't get to it. We have Scottish ancestry and also own a Scottish Terrier (Terrorist) for a pet. He's such a rascal. :)

Have a great week; I enjoyed your post!

Lovely collection of tartan here.....I love the iPhone case! :D That little lamp was a steal! I think it's adorable, and it's so easy to rewire a lamp.

Love the Scotty cookies, and I spy with my little eye some MacKenzie-Childs MacLachlan....I love that pattern so much, and yet I don't own any *sadface* Maybe one day! ;P

  37. I love this post!

Last year was my first year blogging and I found and participated (kinda) in Tartan Day - but this year it came and went and I didn't even realize I had missed it. Darn.

Well life has me upside down right now and all I can get done is the basics.

Hopefully next year I will remember.

YOU sure did Tartan proud, I love all your stuff - especially that lamp, it is AWESOME!!!!
