SHE WHO LOVES A GARDEN
Illustrated by Mary Engelbreit
Sharing another of Mary Engelbreit's small gift
books published by Andrews & McMeel.
A perfect little gift for an Easter basket!
SHE WHO LOVES A GARDEN
is "a charming tribute to the joys of gardening
and all things green and growing."
The past few weeks have found me in the garden.
There is much work to be done.
And much joy to be found.
Spring color is the fruit of one's labor.

The summer we married, my husband was in graduate school, and I was employed as a teacher. We took a portion of our savings that summer and purchased a sailboat. We christened our Catalina 22, “Hyacinths For The Soul” after Saadi’s poem. Our "Hyacinths" provided years of pleasure.

Lovin' your cute gardener helper Sarah! Beautiful flowers, enjoy:@)
ReplyDeleteCute little garden book and gardeners! Well I know what you mean..I have much to do too..if the weather would cooperate! Started cleaning out beds and doing a little planting..the wind is fierce and I stayed in all day today..too much gardening yesterday! LOL. Hope your weekend is lovely...you should have warmer weather than we do and hopefully not the 40 mph gusts!
ReplyDeleteMiss Bloomers
Sweet book, sweet garden caddy, and all of your flowers are blooming beautifully in your garden...many that I won't see here for another two months.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful time working in your garden! This is a wonderful time of year.
ReplyDeleteJane
It is so true that there is much joy to be found in gardening. Now if it would just stop snowing maybe we could do just that. I love your mosaic with all the bright flowers.
ReplyDeleteYou have so many beautiful flowers in your garden already!!! That is a really pretty pink iris! DH and I spent the last two days doing yard, deck and garage clean up, and still another day of work to go. (we never got to the side yards.) At least we can see that a few green things are trying to pop their heads above the ground. Finally!
ReplyDeleteWonderful spring flowers, soon I will have blooms like that. Take care and enjoy your week.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty mosaic. I love Mary Englebrit - I miss my subscription to Home Companion! Your garden must be lovely. Thanks for sharing your pretty flowers.

Hello Sarah,
ReplyDeletespring is the most inspirating time in the garden. I am amazed how many plants are blooming now in your garden. Our Iris just wake up from winter sleep.
Greetings, Johanna
You are so far ahead of us in terms of colour! I have been rooting around in the beds, but have to be careful as the soil is still very heavy with water, and if I step on it too much it will compact to rock when it dries up.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! Your little assistant is adorable.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it great to be out doing things in the yard?
ReplyDeleteI love this time of year! Thanks for sharing your blues.
ReplyDeleteHappy Blue Monday, Sarah.
Like you I've been out digging in the dirt! Love this time of year when the new plants go in.
ReplyDeleteLovely mosaic, the flowers are so delicate & pretty.
Have a wonderful week, dear friend.
What fun to be in the garden, and a lovely little garden book! yvette@twistedvines
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is that cute little gardener doll. I can picture a springy basket filled with some flowers, garden tools, and that book and doll.
ReplyDeleteI have got to get out into my flower beds. Maybe if I had a little helper like yours.....cute!!

ReplyDeleteThe little book and garden girl are so cute. I see she's busy digging in the violas with her sun hat on. LOL
ReplyDeleteWe worked a while in the garden yesterday and it was sooo hot 84 deg. and then we had bad thunderstorms last night and cold wind today. No gardening for me today. I'm going shopping!
Hugs, Babs
Sarah, I so enjoyed seeing your mention of Mary Englebreit in this wonderful post. She is one of our home town girls (so to speak) and I am always delighted to see how popular she has become. I once lived a short distance from her St. Louis Studio. She restored an old historic firehouse for her offices and studio and saved it from the wrecking ball.
ReplyDeleteMary Englebreit you gotta love her.
Thanks for the visit to my post on Sunday Dinner. I so appreciate all those who stop by. I hope you found something to like and will visit again sometime.
Wonderful spring flowers, soon we will have blooms like that. We're actually getting to 65 degrees on Sunday!
ReplyDeleteWhat a dear post. I have run out of M.E. things so have not posted on ME MOnday in a while. Hopefully, I will have something next week. I do have this little book and it is so sweet.
ReplyDeleteI often say gardening is my stress reliever.. I have always loved books and picture done by Mary
