Marching Into Summer
Welcome to our Summer Tablescape Blog Hop
My summer vibe is sprinkled with all things patriotic
Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Join me at one of my patriotic themed tables ready for summer.

A big shout out and thank you to our leader and hostess Rita @ Panoplythe lady who keeps us organized and on track. We have 17 tabletop stylists joining the hop today.
Links are at the bottom of this post.
Summer months speak of patriotic holidays for me.
Memorial Day ushers in our hot days of summer.
Flag Day is my younger brother's birthday.
4th of July brings neighborhood parades and picnics.
Labor Day wraps up summer!
If you know me, you know I'm all about mixing it up on my table, and I'm excited to share a few new additions to my tabletop stash.
Take a look at this dish stack.
This year Mackenzie-Childs introduced their Collectors Series Mugs, with a new limited-edition mug offered each month. The mugs are handmade and hand-painted by the artisans in Aurora, NY.
I was thrilled when I saw that the June mug featured my summer patriotic colors and that it was crowned with a beautiful gold star.Perfect addition for my summer tables!
The dish stack starts with white chargers edged in blue stripes. They are made in Portugal, purchased at Neiman Marcus decades ago.The dinners are some of my favorite red and white plates.Queen's Fine China made exclusively for Neiman Marcus, they too are decades old and feature gingham rims with darling tassel motifs. These are favorites for Valentine's too.Top of the dinners are Royal Check Star plates, MacKenzie-Childs limited editions offered at special times.
Another new addition this summer are a pair of vintage blue glass
Avon Fostoria stems found at an antique shop on a recent road trip.
One features George Washington and the other Martha Washington.
A little research revealed they were manufactured in 1976
and originally came with candles that popped into each glass.
Throughout our marriage, I made a habit of
keeping the table set for the two of us.
It encouraged us to sit at the table to enjoy our meal
rather than eat on a tray in our lap.
I pulled out a woven tray and filled it with my collection of Lady Liberty and flowers in blue and white pitchers.Flowers added to a pair of cow creamers sit by each end.
I bought my first little brass Statue of Liberty as a souvenir on my first trip to New York City when I was a junior in high school. Over the years I've added more when I find vintage ones.
The 48 star flag was in use from 1912 to 1959.
I found these small silk desk flags with little brass stands at one of the original Round Top Antique Fairs when the fair was a single show over a long weekend. Little treasures!
I added place cards that I saved from
our 4th of July table in 2022.
Here you can clearly see the portrait of Martha Washingtonon the beautiful Bicentennial goblet.
The frosted cameos of George and Martha and the diamond and ribbed design of these stems lend an elegant touch.
As does silver and mother of pearl antique flatware
with my French faience knife rests.
I layered a patriotic runner atop my Crown Linen Design natural runner and included Crown Linen Design patriotic tea towels within the plate stack for added layering detail.
The exquisite linens and embroidery details on Victoria's
products are remarkable and can be found here.
Napkins are also Crown Linen Designs, and I used a
needlepoint flag luggage tag as a napkin ring.
My chef is no longer physically here, but his
amazing spirit fills the space all around me.
Thank you for joining at my summer
patriotic inspired table for two.
Enjoy your summer!

Three Cheers for the Red, White and Blue Sarah! I’m always fascinated by your collections, no matter the season or holiday. Your new MKC Collectors Series Mugs are a wonderful addition to your patriotic display and tableware! What a fun find the Avon Fostoria goblet set of George and Martha Washington is too. Your placecard figures are so dear! As always, it’s a treat to join you at the table and hop with you. Happy Tuesday 🍽️❤️🤍💙
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Sarah. Like Mary said, your collections are fascinating. Your vignettes and tables are filled with the most amazing details. The June MKC Collectors Series mug could not be more perfect. I am seeing Avon treasures on IG…the goblet set of George and Martha Washington is such a lovely find! The needlepoint flag luggage tag is a wonderful example of your attention to detail.
ReplyDeleteI so enjoy a seat at your table ❤️🤍💙
Sarah, what a charming table to celebrate all things patriotic! Your lovely collections are always a treat to behold!
ReplyDeleteI love that all of your possessions come with a story about them! The June mugs are so cute and I love that next year they will have a "Vase of the Month" - some are so sweet! Your table is filled with patriotism and the new blue stemware was a perfect find! Enjoy your summer!
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Sarah! Your patriotic table and vignettes makes my heart sing! You have such a gift for creating the most beautiful displays, and I always admire your wonderful collections. I love your new MC mug, and your pretty glassware. Your plate stack looks lovely with the CLD table linens. It is always a treat to hop with you! Wishing you a wonderful week sweet friend! Shannon@Belle Bleu Interiors
ReplyDeleteSarah, your patriotic table and vignettes are adorable. Had I been home to participate? I would have used the old red white and blue. You have done an amazing job. I love all your touches and your stories behind each addition, like the Statue of Liberty! it is funny about the Avon pieces because years and years ago in my very early marriage, I sold Avon door-to-door and I had collected all of the pieces and put them all in boxes and donated them to Goodwill many years later! Oh isn’t hindsight wonderful? Have a great and blessed day and relish your memories. Beautiful table.
ReplyDeleteYour table is so fun Sarah! I love that you keep it set for two – what a beautiful way to remember your chef. And I’m totally in love with those needlepoint flag luggage tags! Not only are they perfect for your table, but they’re so different – I wouldn’t have thought of that in a million years! Thanks for sharing your table – it’s great hopping with you! Happy Patriotic Summer!
ReplyDeleteAw, Sarah, your sweet tribute to Monnie is making me smile this morning! I love it so much! I also love your collection of Lady Liberty statues: It's varied and so much fun. I made a promise to Trip that I would only purchase one of the June special edition mugs (same is true for the other months) due to lack of storage space...But I truly wish I had purchased two of the June mugs. Your table is so precious with the mugs and star plates! Your table linens and pillows are wonderful, too. Everything is patriotic and beautiful. Happy summer!
ReplyDeleteSarah, what joy to see your memorable collection of patriotic pieces. It certainly puts me in a celebratory mood. I always admire any McK-C dinnerware and your blue and white checkered star plates are my favorites. They work beautifully in your plate stack and topped with the new limited edition McK-C star mug. The elegant George and Martha Washington stemware was a great find and can be used in so many ways or for many events. Your antique flatware is outstanding and I can visualize how it can be used in so many settings -formal and casual. Your patriotic touches around the room is filled with love and charm -- on your buffet and your tray and your pillows. Speaks home and comfort. Happy Summer and Fourth of July.
ReplyDeleteSarah, you always entice us to lovely table, full of your prized possessions. Love the lady liberties. How fun you started collecting on your very first trip to New York. The plate stack is so pretty and patriotic. You cannot go wrong with CLD's. The MKC collector's mug is so fun, I wasn't aware of that. The elegant flatware is gorgeous, along with your Fostoria cobalt blue goblets. Love your little touches with a patriotic flair to decorate this room. Love everything and would gladly join you at the table.
ReplyDeleteSarah, I have so many adjectives rushing through my mind as I look at each successive photo in your post! Let me just start at the top - Uncle Sam is so handsome, leading the march. The plate stack and mug are rich in the colors of red, white and blue. That deeper red (or faded, transferware and barn reds can be) are ones I really like. Your dining area is so classic (we tend to do that unthinkable of eating on trays most of the time, shame on us). The Statues of Liberty - exquisite (I especially love your first! Mr. P. has an Empire State Bldg from his first trip to NYC at age 15). Those silk flags in brass stands are as sweet and original as the memories of Round Top in the early years. I love all the Crown Linen textiles, and your pillows too. Did you hand work the luggage tag? It's beautiful! And you even have the Royal Check cushions out for the occasion. Just a wonderful summer design, all of it! Thank you for curating such a special design for our summer blog hop. You are just as special!
ReplyDeleteI forgot to mention the Avon Bicentennial editions of glassware - fabulous! Who knew Avon was so into home goods? I've come across many in our antiquing adventures.
DeleteThis is a fun and festve table -- patriotic in spades!
ReplyDeleteGood Afternoon. What a gorgeous table. Your collections are incredible. You definitely inspire me. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteSarah, it is always a treat to see your wonderful collections and how you have displayed them, and as Mary says, no matter the season or occasion! And I love it that so many of your treasures have a history behind them. The linens and flatware are gorgeous and the patriotic pillows are so perfect for all the upcoming summer celebrations. Love the luggage tags used as napkin rings. The MKC mugs are a wonderful addition and Avon goblets were a fabulous find. The mother of pearl antique flatware looks so pretty on the knife rests. I love it that you set the table for two in memory of your chef. Beautiful table and it was so great hopping with you today. Happy summer!
ReplyDeleteHalf the fun of making tablescapes is discovering people of like mind who can inspire me. It always amazes me, as I look at a wide variety of tables, just how many of my own things I see in other people‘s table settings, used in an entirely different way. I have that blue calico cow creamer (although I only have one) as well as the teapot. I had forgotten all about these pieces, because they are surely tucked away on a top shelf, until I saw them here. You are sending me to the garage for the ladder and I’m going to get those out. The McKenzie Childs mugs are amazing. I honestly didn’t know they had mugs. I love all of their stuff, but I try to stay away from them because they’re a bit pricey. The mugs, however, are starting to pull me in. Beautiful job here.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the patriotic MacKenzie-Childs mug on their website, I immediately thought of you :-) It's always a treat to see your wonderful patriotic collection. I rarely set themed tablescapes these days, and just sold a pair of the vintage blue glass Avon Fostoria stems at our annual Memorial Day antique/yard sale we have at our lake. I love how they feature George Washington and Martha Washington. It was time for someone else to enjoy them, and I know you will enjoy yours. Happy summer!
ReplyDeleteOh Sarah, I don't know where to begin! You always share the cutest vignettes and I love all the vintage pieces, Uncle Sam, Statue of Liberty, flags...I could hardly take my eyes off the new MKC stars and stripe mugs, they look incredible atop the MKC star dishes, red check dinner plates and the blue striped chargers. The French knife rests are gorgeous! Did you make the needlepoint flag rings, love them. I love it all!
ReplyDelete❤️ Jenna
Your collection of memorabilia and Lady Liberty pieces are fascinating. They must bring back wonderful memories of the circumstances in which you found them. They make for a wonderful addition to your theme. The plate stack is terrific and I really enjoyed seeing the Fostoria glasses. The French knife rest is really lovely and goes so well with your flatware. A wonderful tribute to all the holiday celebrations in your family. Have a wonderful summer.
ReplyDeleteLynne, Thrifting Wonderland

ReplyDeleteSarah, this is a wonderfully spirited table! There are so many details to savor that I would imagine long leisurely lunches are called for. I love all the vintage touches and adore the knife rests. I love that the tablescape design extends to the sideboard and the chair pillows. Wishing you a fun-filled summer!
ReplyDeleteLots of sweet touches, I love your little Liberty Lady and the rustic painting with it. Lots of memories of good times, hope we have some soon. Sandi
