Welcome!
It's been a roller coaster of a winter,
but I do think spring is finally here.
Bluebonnets are blooming, and . . .
The tulips have popped up
to add some vibrant color to the garden.
Bunnies can
be seen hopping about.
You'll find them in the garden . . .
Where flowers are beginning
to show their pretty faces.
Ahh . . . Springtime in Texas!
The days are perfect for lounging on the
terrace in the warm sunshine . . .
sunny spot inside the house.
Those who know me, know of my
affinity for most animals, especially bunnies.
You're sure to see these little critters tucked here and there
around the house, much like they are out in the garden.
Herend bunnies gather on the shelves
in the living room.
These cuties too!
I seem to be attracted to the charm of
these little cast iron rabbits who have followed
me home through the years.
The standing bunny top right is the most recent.
The dealer said when she found him he was attached to an inkwell.
Evidently the ink well was in sad condition, but she
knew someone like me would give this little fellow a home.
This group fits right in among some of the leafy
pieces of my vintage majolica on the living room bookshelves.
This big guy with his load of baskets sits on the shelf above.
He is very special because he once belonged to a
good friend who is no longer with us.
The petite lapin with a basket of flowers on his back
was a gift from a friend who knows I like these little metal bunnies.
He is part of a vignette on the table in the kitchen sitting room.
and the jaunty rabbit on the stand was painted by a local artist.
Vignettes within the Irish pine cupboard in the
kitchen sitting room include some French faience bunnies.
The wool needle punch bag that hangs
on the door was an Etsy find.
The talented Leslie @ Heartfully Homespun
created this darling bag using a Brenda Gervais design.
The work is exquisite, and I'm impressed with design's details.
Fresh cut flowers are a treat
that we give ourselves around here.
They don't have to be hyacinths to feed our souls.
sit among silver containers on the Welsh dresser in the dining room.
Last year I scrambled to get Easter things
out soon after Valentines Day.
You can see a complete post on my 2016 Easter table here.
This spring, with Easter still a month away,
I'm not yet ready to pull out the Easter decor.
A single vase of flowers is all that is on the table for now.
Over on the sideboard is a Courtly Check vignette
that hints of what's to come in April.
When I spotted this darling little chick in the
MacKenzie-Childs spring catalog, it was love at first sight.
companion to the wonderful Courtly Check rabbit that
my "personal shoppers" found for me at the
MacKenzie-Childs' Barn Sale last summer.

ReplyDeleteSarah, your collections are stellar in every sense. The cast iron and garden variety really strike a chord with me, as does the textile - I love their durability. That majolica collection with the cast iron grouping is heaven for me, but each and every vignette just draws me in with a hopeless affinity for....well, for collecting! Patti's piece for you is adorable - lucky you to have that one, and to add it to the MC entourage, so handsome are they!

Those pansies and garden flowers are fabulous and I love all your magnificent details. Maybe the photo I love most, though, is the one of you and your sweet dog because you can just feel the love.

ReplyDeleteSarah, Your tour was delightful. Your garden is so lovely. I'm wondering what the plant was in the upper right in the grouping of four pictures just above your picture? Your french iris , specimum iris, and bluebonnets I recognize but haven't seen the one on the upper right. I'm hoping to see some real Texas bluebonnets next week while I am in Dallas.

Oh my goodness Sarah!! Your gardens are so pretty!! I have to live vicariously through all of you who are actually having spring weather, it was snowing here yesterday- so I am enjoying all the fresh flowers you have about your house as well as in your garden. You have a beautiful collection of unique bunnies. What a wonderful celebration of spring!!

ReplyDeleteFrom outside to inside, I so enjoyed you sharing flowers and bunnies. You really have a green thumb...so much blooming in spring. Is this peak time in Texas? And your statues are precious.
Your bunny collection is awesome. Vintage?? How great! I absolutely love the wool needle punch (am I saying that right?) bag. Your Etsy friend is good!!. Oh...just outstanding. I'd treasure that for sure!!

You have quite a wonderful collection of bunnies and Majolica. Sounds like people who love you enjoy gifting you pieces they know you'll love,, how wonderful for you. Tells me you are very nice lady. Looks like you genuinely enjoy your lovely pieces.
ReplyDeleteHadn't any knowledge of Majolica until we moved to KY/Bowling Green area in 1999-2004. Still miss our wonderful house and 1 1/2 acres. Oldest son bought the place, completely redid house inside and out adding wonderful front porch to sell to us. Found out about Majolica at flea mkt.in Bowling green, spent lots of time there on weekends. What a difference prices for property are in KY compared to CO. It's awfully expensive here in Grand Junction, CO area for us. Moved here to be closer to youngest daughter and family and climate in KY was bad for me with arthritis, allergies and asthma.
We live about 18 miles west of G.J. Have 1/2 acre now out in rural area. Very quiet out here and our views are incredible.
Your post is so enjoyable, loved seeing you and fur baby out in sunshine.
Hadn't heard from you for while but our internet was awful for too long. Finally switched back to Century Link from Hughes Net which was horrible and expensive. We only have 2 providers out here so have to take what we can get. Neither one in my opinion is great.Enjoy your weekend.
So sorry, forgot to tell you how much I admired your beautiful yard and so many gorgeous plants. You must have the golden touch.

Your spring vignettes are stunning! Of course I love all the faience, the Herend bunnies grouping is so sweet and all the metal bunnies are a favorite of mine. There are a few hopping around here too. Of course the MC bunny and chick are jaw dropping gorgeous. Your home is spring ready and looks like a magazine spread. Love the pic of you and Miss Sadie. ReplyDeleteYour flowers and bunnies outside and inside say spring has arrived. Bluebonnets are the flowers that truly announce a Texas spring, and yours are in full bloom. This week I saw huge patches along the highways going into Dallas. There were far more flowers than there were for the past several years. It's a good year for bluebonnets in our area.

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness.... I love all the bunnies and the bluebells... I so wish we had them here, but I don't know if they'd grow in this climate. I really need to check if they will.
Anyway, I was snooping around your blog as well and I believe we're kindred spirits with our love of old and especially our love of pups. Miss Sadie Mercedes is adorable! What a personality :)

Oh Sarah! It has been too long since I have visited. Your blog inspires and delights. I am so happy you have continued blogging and I am actually envious.
