Only 16 days till Easter!
Easter comes at the end of March this year.
Though I much prefer to celebrate Easter in April,
I can't deny that our springtime weather
has me thinking of bunnies and beautiful flowers.

A Friend's Easter Mantel
I plan to host a small dinner party
with girlfriends the week before Easter,
and we will also host an Easter Sunday brunch.
As I often do for inspiration, I pulled up my
photo files of celebrations past.

Come along for a hop down the trail of a few
Easter tables set here at Hyacinths in past years.
~ Easter 2015 ~
Redbud blooms and an antique chippy iron
rabbit were the centerpiece for last year's Easter table.
Soft pink linens, our MacKenzie-Childs pottery,
and some fun new bunny plates
filled out the table for Easter Brunch 2015.

While the new bunny plates and
Ambiance Vintage Garden chargers
layered beautifully with the MacKenzie-Childs plates,
I also set the table with simple woven chargers
under each plate for our casual everyday meals.
For the centerpiece, Mr. Chippy Bunny
was paired with an antique French Jardiniere
filled with purple hyacinths and a collection
of hand painted eggs tucked in among the grass.
This table focused on textures and the colors of
fresh spring greens along with the
rich earth tones of the soil.
It was a refreshing change for me since I typically
use our MacKenzie-Childs dishes which are
a variety of pretty pastel shades.

We hosted a group here for
brunch outside on our terrace in 2012.
As you can see, this was definitely a pastel affair.
It was a perfect spring morning,
and "Hen and Chicks" was the theme.
I chose to use succulents instead of spring flowers,
because I wanted to use "hen-and-chicks",
a succulent that I fondly remember
growing in both my mother's and grandmother's gardens.

I had to hop way back into the archives for this one,
and I apologize for the less than stellar photos.
my thought is this table might offer a bit of inspiration in its
simplicity and the use of the pussy willow branches
with Easter ornaments instead of fresh flowers.

~ Easy Party Favor ~
If you like to send guests home with a party favor,
Johanna Parker's springtime tussie-mussie is easy to make.
I filled mine with Easter candies, but you could
fill them with flowers or some small gift.

Your tablescapes are always a work of art Sarah. I adore those darling bunny plates. I am with you in that I'd much rather celebrate Easter in April but no doubt you will create something lovely this spring!

I always enjoy visiting your inspirational tablescapes, Sarah! Each and every one is so gorgeous. It's hard to pick a favorite. I did love the darling idea of using the petite bunny creamer as a vase and napkin ring...so clever!

ReplyDeleteSuch a lot to look at here, Sarah. Each table had so much charm and so many ideas. I'm working away this week and left a house that had spring flowers around, but not a hint of Easter. I'll have to remedy that when I return. There's certainly inspiration in your photos. We don't have plans, yet, for Easter. There will be church and there will be lunch, for certain, and there may be an Easter Egg hunt for a little girl in our backyard.

ReplyDeleteThis year..Jacques' birthday is the same date..almost so we will go to my daughter's the eve and celebrate jacques..so no hunt..here..I will bring filled baskets there and desserts etc..
Oh, where to begin? I love all of your table settings..... a few things that caught my eye: Love your 3 tired checked flower pots, your polka dot flatware are adorable, love the idea of jelly beans in the sugar server (forget the name of it), love your collage photo of all the various MC patterns and the little bunny plates are too cute!! Now I have to go back and look at all the pics again (but first I have to get a tissue to wipe away the drool) Too, too pretty, all of it!!

ReplyDeleteYour Easter table settings are all so wonderful. What great ideas you have for each one of them. I love the little bunny with flowers that you gave as table favors. The 2013 Easter collage just made me stop and stare at all the details. The dishes with the brown basketweave design is perfect for Spring and for layering with your white, green, and brown dishes/chargers. I love how all the patterns are connected by basketweave. I now have the urge to create a new Spring table setting.

What a terrific Easter parade, Sarah! I love compilation posts and you deliver so much inspiration. I really love them all, but there were definitely a few things that I would say I favor, like the sugar skuttle of jelly beans, the rustic bunny, all the florals & greens, and I really am drawn to the 2013 table as a whole. All beautiful!

This was a fun look back at your Easter tables of yore. (I always wanted to say "yore" in a sentence -- ha!) You and RJ need to get together to talk about all that McKC pottery! Sarah, I loved your hop down the bunny trail! I prefer for Easter to arrive in April too, with more time between the leprechauns and bunnies and eggs. ReplyDeleteSuch pretty Easter ideas, Sarah! I like your idea of filling the bunny creamers with flowers for each guest to take home. I did not decorate for St Patrick's Day this year as Easter comes so close behind it. I will be having my family for Easter dinner. I make deviled eggs and shrimp cocktail as appetizers, fresh manicotti and gluten free lobster mac and cheese for those who eat gluten free, a baked honey ham, a roast turkey breast, asparagus, roasted cauliflower, fresh peas, and stuffed mushrooms. Of course there will be an Easter egg hunt for the grandchildren. We usually still have snow outside so it has to take place inside. It's fun!

I loved your hens and chicks idea and as I have several weekends in April and May with guests in my house I will use your table as inspiration. And I did not know all the history of M-C dishes, and being such a fan, I am thankful for the info! This group of Texas bloggers is so sweet and interesting.
