Petit Déjeuner a la Maison du Cox

Spent the weekend with friends in Dallas.

The details of this simple breakfast

were too pretty not to share.

~ Petit Déjeuner ~

A Simple Breakfast ~ Bread and Tea

~ Lancaster ~

English Ironstone by Adams

~ Frontenac ~

Antique Sterling by Simpson, Hall, and Miller

~ Petit Jam Pots ~

Antique French Faience

~ Quimper ~

~ To Have Style! ~

~ It's Early! ~

~ Perfect Time For Hot Tea ~

~ Ali, Le Chat ~

The French saying mugs above were designed and made for La Madeline Restaurants years ago by our friend, Cathy Schermer.  Regretfully I only purchased a couple when they were available through La Madeline, and now they are no longer being made.  I keep thinking I'm going to find a few at the thrift stores like my friend Linda @ A La Carte.  She has found several at her local Goodwill, one of which she kindly sent my way.  Thank you, Linda!

The summer we married, my husband was in graduate school, and I was employed as a teacher. We took a portion of our savings that summer and purchased a sailboat. We christened our Catalina 22, “Hyacinths For The Soul” after Saadi’s poem. Our "Hyacinths" provided years of pleasure.

  6. Sarah, I thought of you when I saw some Quimper pieces at a house sale over Memorial Day weekend. I must confess that I would not recognized the Quimper if it weren't for you sharing your photos with us. Glad you had a great time in Texas. Those jam pots are wonderful!

  8. Looks like your friend is a kindred spirit! I would love to eat breakfast at that lovely table. Of course, I was drawn to the "Frontenac" sterling. If someone is interested in this pattern, they can find it listed as an International Silver pattern, too! So glad you had fun in Dallas, Sarah!

  17. Dearest Sarah,
LOVE those pure linen and handembroidered appiqued place mats in Henriot Quimper Faïence! What a sight... Wishing you good luck in finding those mugs but one never knows where they might turn up.
    Hugs to you,

PS My last name would have been Cox if my ancester Johanna Van den Munckhof had not brought in more money into the marriage in 1650 than her husband! It was usual at that time that children would than be named after the mother...

  23. WHat a lovely setting for breakfast. So cheerful, Sarah! I love the little cup...it's *never* too early to have style, LOL! So cute.

I love Quimper, but I don't have any pieces. If I collected something else, Trip would kill me!

I hope you enjoyed your visit in Dallas. Was it hot? We finally broke 90 degrees this week...it hadn't gotten out of the eighties for almost two weeks!

  25. This had to be the perfect start to the day with your friends...they know you well & obviously, share your interests.
I adore the Antique Sterling!! Oh my, such luscious carvings!

The placemat reminded me that I had forgotten all about the embroidered napkins I wanted to do for you. I need to move those up to the top of the sewing table's list.

    Stay cool down there,
    fondly,
    Rett

  30. Bonjour Sarah! Joyeux Bastille! Oh I remember being at the Eiffel Tower one 17 juillet and it was unforgettable. Look at your gorgeous French table wares today! There's nothing like the simple and beautiful details that the French bring to the table, morning, noon and night.

Last night we spent out dinner hour in our covered patio, enjoying a very French evening with our fountain in the background. Chicken marinated in olive oil and white wine and mushrooms and fresh thyme from the garden gave us a sense of being in France!!!!! I hope you are enjoying a lovely Sunday; thank you for your kind visit today my friend! Anita
