A French Thanksgiving?
Yes, I know the French don't celebrate Thanksgiving,
but one of our dinner guests is French.
This was in her honor!
Designs by Gollum: Foodie Friday is also labeled, Friends, Food, and Fun. That pretty well sums up our Thanksgiving evening. We definitely had a delightfully fun evening with friends as we enjoyed a delicious meal, so I decided to link some of the photos of our meal to Foodie Friday. It's the first time I'm participating in this weekly party, though I'm a faithful visitor each week.
We started our evening by popping a bottle of Veuve Clicquot and nibbling on appetizers.

We started dinner with a salad of baby spinach
with fresh grapefruit and blue cheese crumbles.
The main meal was served from the sideboard.
My husband is the chef in our home, and he likes to march to his own drum. Though he has roasted a turkey for Thanksgiving at times, he often likes to cook a different bird for our Thanksgiving meal. We've had pheasant, quail, cornish game hens, and this year he selected to serve duck. He actually bought it smoked, and it was delicious!

After dinner we moved into the living room
around the cozy fire to enjoy coffee and dessert.

Homemade Pumpkin Pie
Just so you don't think
I'm totally worthless in the kitchen,
this little birdie wanted me to tell you
that I get the credit for baking the pies.

Sarah, a magnificent Thanksgiving celebration.......just know everyone had a splendid time. How lucky to have a DH whose kitchen talents are so awesome - mine boils water and that's about it!! Your pie was so pretty with the pastry leaves - that would definitely be my favorite part along with the pecans!

Looks like a scrumptious, if unconventional, Thanksgiving dinner. Your husband looks as though he truly enjoys cooking. Lucky you! My dh did all our cooking yesterday, too. Your pie was beautiful, too. And everything was SO beautiful. I'm sure your guests were blessed by such wonderful hospitality! Thanks for sharing such an inspirational post.

Sarah, this looks absolutely divine! I know your guests loved having this delicious meal. You and your DH outdid yourselves, and I love all the dishes served.
ReplyDeleteI like that you try different birds for Thanksgiving. My inlaws always enjoyed serving a different dish every Christmas which was always fun. I would love some of that delicious pate right about now! Got any left??? I've been gone all day, and even though we had dinner, seeing this makes me feel famished. I love it!

Wow, Sarah! What a treat that must have been for your French guest! You and your husband are not only fabulous cooks, but fabulous hosts as well! I remember my Thanksgiving in France. They only sell whole turkeys by request, and my neighbor had a huge tom turkey in her chicken coop that kept eyeing me as I would pass! So...I had to make do with roast chicken! Happy weekend...hugs...Debbie

ReplyDeleteI've made artichoke spread before but never with cayenne. I must make a note on my recipe to try to jazz it up a bit next time. :)
