Let's All Toast Susan!

Welcome to Tablescape Thursday with our hostess Susan @ Between Naps On The Porch. Susan is celebrating her Blog's 1st Anniversary this week. Be certain to stop by for a visit.

Each Thursday Susan hosts a delightful photo spread of a dining experience at her elegant and charming home. Visits to the "The Porch" have become a weekly date for me!

So lift your glasses and toast our friend!

Susan,

"Here's to friends gathered round your table,

gentle breezes across your porch,

and to dishes galore to fill your cupboards!"

Happy Blogoversary, Susan!

You are truly a most creative and gracious host.

A special anniversary celebration such as this makes me think of elegant formal dinners served on one's very best china. And Since Susan is a southern girl, let's visit the Greenbrier for just such an evening.

The Greenbrier, a National Historic Landmark, is nestled in the Allegheny Mountains of West Virginia. This historic resort has offered classic southern charm and outstanding amenities since the late 1800s. The classic Georgian structure with Dorothy Draper interiors is steeped in tradition.

The summer we married, my husband was in graduate school, and I was employed as a teacher. We took a portion of our savings that summer and purchased a sailboat. We christened our Catalina 22, “Hyacinths For The Soul” after Saadi’s poem. Our "Hyacinths" provided years of pleasure.

  24. Oh Sarah...what fun! I've always wanted to go to the Greenbriar...thanks so much for taking me along. :-) When I got married many moons ago, that's where we were supposed to go for our honeymoon...but it was all booked up for some kind of convention. :-( So went to The Homestead...which was grand, too. But, now I can say I got to see the Greenbriar! It really is a gorgeous place! Dinner was fabulous...I'm stuffed! :-) Here's a toast to you, Sarah...and to your delightfully enchanting blog! :-)

  29. Hi Sarah,
Thanks for visiting That Old House on TT! I love your toast to Susan, who certainly deserves the accolades. Her Tablescaping meme is so much fun!

Love the Greenbriar. My Mom's best friend used to go there annually for cooking classes, and then come home and host a fabulous dinner. And my dad's best friend & his wife used to go there for rug hooking classes! It's a wonderful place.
