Welcome, November!
Time to honor some fine feathered friends.
2024 Thanksgiving Tablescape Blog Hop.
Thank you, Rita @ Panoply, for your careful planning and organization for these wonderful hops that inspire so many of us.
Those who follow along with Monday Morning Blooms might recall this October arrangement made with a bouquet of huge mop-head
hydrangeas that were gifted to me on September 28th in
remembrance of the anniversary of Monnie's passing.
The following day, I joined the group for Rita's
Halloween Tablescape Blog Hop here
Across the room on the buffet, you'll find the MKC pumpkins again
and transitioned the flowers to the buffet leaving
a low centerpiece of a pumpkin patch.
Fast forward to today, November 5th, 39 days after first receiving the hydrangeas, and here they are repurposed to the table again.
This time as a low centerpiece on a tray.
No need for a vase of water!
naturally dried state as when they were delivered fresh.
The painted ruscus stems are also still just as pretty.
I did buy fresh magnolia leaves and also added in some seeded eucalyptus and sprigs of bittersweet for a touch of orange.
Across the room on the buffet, you'll find the MKC pumpkins again
and some MKC turkeys that came to roost here in recent years.
The pumpkins are a mix of patterns added over the course of years.
I'm one who enjoys the thrill of the hunt and the joyful
spontaneity of adding pieces to my collections slowly.
The MKC turkey planter makes a nice statement at 14" tall.
It came with this faux arrangement which I intended to replace
with fresh flowers. I decided to leave well enough alone for now.
I like the turkey's simplicity with its trademark tail feathers.
At the opposite end of the buffet is another MKC container.
At the opposite end of the buffet is another MKC container.
I repurposed my pair of Woodland Pillar Candle Holders as vases.
The faux wood carved leaves and acorns that encircle each base give an autumnal feel, perfect to display Haley's Comit Tulips with their brilliant yellow and red/orange flames. What a beautiful statement!
The beautiful Louis Sherry chocolates tin
was from Williams-Sonoma in 2020.
These chocolates are the best, and the decorative tins a bonus.
The little ceramic MKC turkey is for salt, but mine holds candy.
I'm excited to feature these gorgeous Copeland Spode India Tree plates, a thoughtful gift from my friend, Roxy, who recently
flew in from Carmel, CA for a repeat Texas visit.
details and delicately scalloped edges on these plates are stunning.
Copeland Spode India Tree, made in England,
was a popular pattern the latter half of the19th century.
The striking orange/rust color is perfect for fall. This historical design was inspired by an early textile from India. The crooked, coral like branches of a leafy, flowering tree gives an exotic feel.
Mark On Underside
When Roxy was here, we pulled out dishes and played with various combinations. We liked the look of paring these antique plates with the the modern feel of Courtly Check rimmed in gold and the octagonal chargers from the MacLachlan Collection that features various scenes from the MacKenzie-Childs farm in Aurora, NY.
The Williams-Sonoma dinner plates in Plymouth Gate Rim lend a contemporary feel with their geometric border while giving a nod back to 18th century transfer ware and the Copeland Spode plates.
It all reflects sophistication without looking too formal.
I added the MKC rust linen napkins edged in a black and white trim and used a selection of my French antique sterling napkin rings.
All the colors complement each other nicely.
The napkin rings add a little touch of formality.
Roxy, well versed in sterling silver,
shared that the interlocking SA monogram
is considered a Duogram, or puzzle monogram.
Love learning something new!
Monnie's MA is also classically interlocked, thus a Duogram.
two are water and two wine. They are no longer offered in this color,
but I really wanted to add them to this table for an added
touch of elegance, so I've mixed sizes here.
I also added little vintage glass ink bottles
filled with a few straw flowers at each place setting.
They just add another special little touch.
shakers in Kelp and Urchin fit right in.
shakers add that touch of whimsy.
You can find it here. Pop on over for lots of blooming
flowers, rafters of feathered friends, and pecan pie.
Speaking of my feathered friends, did you notice there
is a new gobbler who joined my "gang" of turkeys?
Yes, one of these handsome fellows flew in to roost here.
The very talented John Derian collaborated with Target
again this year for another amazing Thanksgiving collection.
I couldn't resist bringing home this fellow
and a few other pieces in this year's collection.
Stay tuned for another Thanksgiving themed
tablescape to be shared soon.
John Derian's Target Collaboration last year.
The two are different in colors and bead work.
I'm very impressed with the quality and artistic bead work.

Sarah, I’ve died and gone to turkey-pumpkin-flower heaven! So much eye candy to admire…and look at that gorgeous plate stack with the fluted, scalloped and gilded plate edges. The Copeland Spode India Tree is such a thoughtful gift from your friend and I have French antique sterling napkin ring envy too…swoon! Such a treat to visit you this morning. You make me regret not adding a John Derian turkey pillow to my rafter. 😉 As always, it’s a treat to have a virtual seat at the table. Happy Tuesday. 🦃🧡
ReplyDeleteSarah!! So much to oooh and awe over here!! What a beautiful table filled with gorgeous pieces. I think my favorites are your napkins and your monogrammed napkin rings and the stunning stemware!!! Such a delight to see!! I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving🙏🏼🧡
ReplyDeleteSarah, wowza! Oh my, you & Roxy must've had a really good time playing in dishes, and this tablescape shows that! The India Tree pattern looks so beautiful perched atop the rest of your gorgeous plate stack. The fluted edge of the M-C ceramic just does it for me, and the classic edge of the Plymouth Gate collection is a nice rest for the eyes before once again wowing with the MacLachlan octagonal charger. I don't know if it's your UT connection, but you do orange better than anyone I know! Duogram is a new term for me also, but how lucky were you to find both yours and Monnie's in those napkin rings. The hydrangeas, turkeys (John Derian, just wow with the quality for the price!), and pumpkins all round it out to another stunning display of your vast collections. I would love to pick a seat at that table and linger over the friendship and fun of our similar loves of things collected. Thank you, Sarah, for sharing all this by joining in this hop. Happy Thanksgiving season to you, dear one!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, Sarah! Your details are stunning. Truly, truly stunning! I love all of your MKC - I haven't started collecting it yet but you are definitely tempting me! Your Arte Italica stemware are such a luxurious addition to your incredible plate stack - it is positively REGAL! Gorgeous colors and textures! You and your friend Roxy did a great job pairing everything. I'm also quite smitten with those ink well bottles. They are going on my "hunt" list :) It's a joy to celebrate Thanksgiving with you. I love that we both scooped up the John Derian Turkey!! I couldn't resist him either - sooo cute and I agree - incredible beadwork!! ~ Happy Thanksgiving ~ Jennifer

ReplyDeleteI found a whole set of Indian Tree China at an estate sale for $5.00! Such a score!
ReplyDeleteWhoops! My Indian Tree China, which looks very similar to India Tree China, is actually by Hartuta from Japan. It isn't quite as pretty as India Tree, but I like it and it works well for Thanksgiving tables. I love your place settings!
DeleteWow Sarah! Where do I even start!?! This is so full of gems - every little corner has something else wonderful! I LOVE your India Tree china - aren't friends great?! - and the other plates in the stack are perfect with it! You've got such a collected look going on, and it all coordinates beautifully! I love your silver napkin rings too, and you're right, it IS so fun to learn new things! I'm fascinated by the history of table pieces, and the backstamps are so interesting. All your little touches - the amber glassware, the ink pot vases, and the darling squirrel salt & pepper shakers - all fabulous! Thanks for sharing your beautiful pieces and your creativity. I got lots of great ideas! Always so fun to hop with you. I hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteSarah, that is so amazing that you were able to repurpose those beautiful flowers for three separate occasions! Your MKC pumpkin collection is so beautiful and I love it when collections have been lovingly curated slowly over the years. I am in love love with the MKC turkey planter and I remember that WS pattern on the chocolate tin as I have the salad plates which we use nearly every Thanksgiving. The plate stack is gorgeous - you and Roxy must have had great fun. The India Tree plates are so pretty and I love them on Courtly Check plates on top of the WS plates with the MacLachlan chargers. The napkins are lovely and I think that the napkin rings are even more special now. Everything is just beautiful. Love the beaded turkey pillow too - I tried to order one tonight but apparently they don't like my address lol. It was such a pleasure hopping with you and wishing you a most wonderful Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteSuch a pleasure to visit your table, Sarah. The Copeland dishes set the tone for a beautiful table mixing modern and traditional elements. What a lovely gift from a friend and a perfect nod to the meaning of Thanksgiving. I enjoyed seeing your collection of turkeys. They bring so much color and texture to the room. Your silver napkin rings are very special. I didn't know about the interlocking letters being called a diagram, or interlocking puzzle. The flowers are beautiful and loved the color of the napkin. Wishing you a lovely Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteLynne
