Autumn is a second spring
where every leaf is a flower.

Merry Autumn Days
By Charles Dickens
Hail to the merry Autumn days,
when yellow corn-fields shine,
Far brighter than the costly cup that
holds the monarch's wine!
Hail to the merry harvest-time,
the gayest of the year,
The time of rich and bounteous crops,
rejoicing, and good cheer!
Tis pleasant on a fine Spring
morn to see the buds expand,
Tis pleasant in the Summer
time to view the teeming land;
Tis pleasant on a Winter's
night to crouch around the blaze, ~
But what are joys like these,
my boys, to Autumn's merry days!

So many pretties in this post. I don't even know where to begin. I do love that little basket holding your plant. Is it a fishing basket (don't know how to spell the word for it!)? Sarah, are those double doors in the mosaic at your house? They are gorgeous! I'm also in love with that rooster painting. I don't think I've seen it before. Everything looks beautiful. laurie
ReplyDeleteWill have to peek and peek again..:-)

ReplyDeleteSarah, all of your Fall pictures are so lovely. I love the shadows on so many of them. The play of light is exquisite. I haven't done much decorating and feel like the fall is already here and running away from me!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so pretty, Sarah! I love how you caught the light and shadows in your pictures. I have forgotten the name of the little green balls...but I do love them in the vignettes, very different!

Hi Sarah, That poem is so beautiful. I'm copying it to hang in my kitchen. I do love the autumn. AND I love that wallpaper in your first photo. All your vignettes are perfect--especially the M-C acorn! I greatly enjoyed this post. Linda
ReplyDeleteSo inspiring, Sarah!
ReplyDeleteI love the pumpkins on the old marble top scale. I must copy that!!! Terrific idea.
I am so anxious for our osage oranges (or hedge apples or monkey balls) to start falling again! I would love to have bowls full of them around the house. They smell so good. Love how you have displayed yours.
Thanks for sharing

What a lovely post. Charles Dickens is my very favorite author. And I spied the Chinese lanterns in one of your photographs; also a favorite of mine! Have a great day! (Visiting from Tabletop Tuesday)
ReplyDeleteI don't know what I love best... the osage oranges which remind me of childhood because we had several trees of these in the back pasture. They were old ones, too. Or your adorable pumpkins. OR the cute scarecrow. Love all the fall goodies, Sarah.
ReplyDeleteXO,
Sheila

ReplyDeleteLove the acid green of Osage Oranges too. I pick them off the big trees near my office every year starting in July before they hit the ground. That color is so fun to decorate with.
