Chicken Soup for Dinner

A dear friend made a pot of chicken soup.
She phoned and asked if she could bring 
dinner for Saturday night.  
Yes, please!
I quickly and easily transitioned my recent
Tribute to Tom Turkey table to something simpler.
The turkeys moved to the entrance table by the side door, 
replaced with a favorite MacKenzie-Childs bowl 
filled with white Christmas cactus.

I left the John Derian runner with it's black and white 
drawings and occasional pops of color.
Perfect for an autumn feel.

My friend is French, so I thought it fitting that I would set the 
table with French dishes, a set of dinner plates and shallow 
bowls painted in a contemporary design by 
Keraluc Pottery in Quimper, France.

The unusual dinner plates are each painted in 
various renditions of this stylized floral design.
The rims are edged in scalloped star points. 

The shallow bowls repeat the stylistic designs.
We were attracted to the unusual design 
and soft color pallet used in glazing.

Then individual pumpkin tureens are ceramic 
in a metallic glaze and made by Tag.
Perfect bowls for serving soup.
The MacKenzie-Childs Courtly Check chargers pick up the 
black drawing design of the runner, and I added 
the burlap placemats for added texture.
The Arte Italica Crown Linen Design napkins 
continue the black and white check motif.
Napkin rings are antique French baby teething rings.

I discovered the antique French sterling teething rings 
shopping the Foire de Chatou, the twice annual 
outdoor antique market outside of Paris.
They make interesting and unique napkin rings.

Our Arte Italica pewter stems add 
the perfect touch on this table.

As do our black bamboo flatware.

Diane's tasty chicken soup was chock full of
delicious veggies and shredded chicken.

For dessert - mixed berry crumble.

It was a delightful evening catching
up with a dear friend over dinner.

I'm going to remember this kindness and pay it forward.
How special it is for someone to offer to bring over dinner.

    I thought it was so dear that she did that.That is caring.And you setting the special table is also.I didn't know you had been to la Foire de Chatou.I remember painting people from Geni's pics..Looks wonderful!

    Oh Sarah, what a perfectly set table you made for you and your thoughtful friend, Diane. The bowls from Quimper are beautiful works of art and those pumpkin tureens work so well with the stemware. What unique napkin rings those baby teething rings make!!! Your tables are styled so lovely, and the white Christmas cactus makes for a beautiful centerpiece. ❤️

    Wow Sarah, such a dear friend. How special she did that for the two of you. The table is beautiful with your french touches. Love the Quimper bowls. The baby teething rings are so brilliant for napkin rings. The soup looks delicious. A special evening with a dear friend.
