"You're a grand old flag
You're a high flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave
You're the emblem of
The land I love.
The home of the free and the brave.
Ev'ry heart beats true
'neath the Red, White, and Blue,
Where there's never a boast or brag.
Should auld acquaintance be forgotten,
Keep your eye on the grand old flag."

This post made me want to stand up and salute (while singing (Grand Old Flag). I love that song-it's so uplifting. And so are these photos. Is the photo of the vintage-looking flag holder (holding little flags in a fan shape) yours? I love that holder.

Sarah, I hope your impending move goes well. It is so hard to have all of your dishes in storage. Mine are in storage too. Where are you moving to, still staying in Texas, I presume? Did you take all those pictures of flags. They are so beautiful. That is a "grand old song." Let's hear it for the red, white and blue! Joni
ReplyDeleteSarah,

This is such a great song that brings back fabulous memories of our lives in Boston, Mass., while we were students. Nowhere like Boston can you get a special effect during this holiday. There is just something different about the North Church, Beacon Hill on the Fourth of July.
ReplyDeleteSarah dear, THANK YOU for coming to visit. I think the next time you do go to Carmel, Sadie will be lovingly welcomed. It's a very dog-friendly place and many of the shops and even some restaurants (their patio areas) welcomed four-legged patrons!
ENJOY YOUR FOURTH! Anita
I love it Sarah!! Great post. The flag photos are wonderful. I am one of those people who cry at every parade when the band strikes up and the flags go by, so I am a huge lover of all things patriotic!
