Let's Dish
~ A Simple Santa Fe Inspired Tablesetting ~
I shared this table last year,
but in light of my recent trip to Santa Fe
I decided to feature it again.
I hope you don't mind.
As the sun sets on the beautiful
Sangre de Cristo Mountains of Santa Fe . . .
The table is set for an impromptu dinner for two.
Candlelight and perhaps a zesty Margarita on the rocks.
The vibrant woven threads of a Mexican serape,
Talavera pottery, and flatware with a "twist"
provides interest and texture to the glass top table.
White cotton napkins tucked in small bowls,
one mustard yellow - the other rusty red . . .
Add a pop of bright color to the white dinner plates
rimmed in indigo and topped with fanciful floral salad plates.
A quiet spot for evening
conversation with one's companion . . .
conversation with one's companion . . .
the sights, sounds, and flavors of Santa Fe.
~ Tip and Tidbits ~
~ Tip and Tidbits ~
When you find yourself with the need to set an impromptu table,
look around you for inspiration. A tray of candles can easily
substitute for flowers and offer beautiful ambiance. No table cloth
or placemats handy - simply use a textile such as this Mexican
serape, or pull a scarf or throw into service.

I haven't been to Santa Fe in such a long time. We need to return of another visit. I love the Finn Gallery on that narrow little street...can't remember the name. Your serape is very special...not your average everyday serape. I'm so glad that you'll be putting the Mottahedeh "Sacred Butterfly" plates to use on your table. My email is listed on my profile page. Send me your address, and I'll send them your way. I hope that we'll have an opportunity to do a "Tables for Two" post together. I'm excited to see how you'll use them. I'm going to another quality estate sale tomorrow. Wonder if I'll find any more treasures? Cherry Kay
ReplyDeleteBonsoir Sarah. Long time, no talk to. I have been away in Europe and returned to Seattle a few days ago. Thankfully, summer had finally arrived here, "on the dot" just in time for July 4th! I have always wanted to visit Santa Fe. When is a good time to go? I might consider it next year as a short escape from the Northwest rain. Lovely table setting, as always. Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)
ReplyDeleteIt's certainly a lovely table, Sarah. I'd like to visit Santa Fe one day, and experience the desert colours.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely table! I love the colors in the serape, and the blues in your dinnerware and stemware accent it perfectly. It has a very serene and intimate feel to it.

ReplyDeleteOh how festive is this tablescape!!! I am a white dish type 'a gal......I come from the French line of cooks that use white plates!!!! BUT THIS IS FABULOUS and it must be so fun to create. I do use a splash of color during the summer however, in my napkin selection: AQUA!!! Thank you precious friend for coming to listen to SLY and the Family Stone.....we are having HOT FUN over here, building a deck and painting my studio..we got it all done RIGHT before my friend arrives on Monday!!! We are crazy!
Have a lovely day, Anita
