Impromptu Dinner For Two

As the sun sets on the beautiful

Sangre de Cristo Mountains of Santa Fe . . .

The table is set for

an impromptu dinner for two.

Candlelight and perhaps

a zesty Margarita on the rocks.

The vibrant woven threads of a Mexican serape,

Talavera pottery, and flatware with a "twist"

provides interest and texture to the glass top table.

White cotton napkins tucked in small bowls,

one mustard yellow - the other rusty red . . .

Add a pop of bright color to the white dinner plates

rimmed in indigo and topped with fanciful floral salad plates.

A quiet spot for evening

 conversation with one's companion . . .

As each reflect on the day spent enjoying

the sights, sounds, and flavors of Santa Fe.

  9. Sarah, I tried to drop by last night and leave a message, but for some reason, I couldn't get the comment box to come up. Have no idea what happened.

I just wanted to drop by and thank you for your lovely, heartfelt comments on my last post. I appreciate your sweet spirit more than you know, and I just wanted to say, "Thanks." This is my first time I've blogged in about a month, and I thought I would try and catch up a little. Things here are still up in the air, and I came down to check on Adelaide's children and grandchildren who are my godchildren. It's a time of trying to find a new "normal."

I saw that you have lost some dear ones, too, and I want you to know my heart goes out to you. I hope you know there are many people who love you and care, and I'm one of that number.

On a different note, I love your tablescape, and we have the same flatware! Loved seeing it used in a Santa Fe theme. I hope to get there some day.

    Warm hugs across the miles...

    XO,

    Sheila

  12. Sarah, Great idea to use the serape for a runner. So "upscale casual" and inviting. Love the colors of mustard, rust and the indigo... and little squarish bowls. Did you say 'margarita'? I'm there.
