The lead crow has landed on the perfect pumpkin right in the
middle of the cutest group of Halloween Trick or Treaters.
Tell me, do you have fond memories of going door to door, dressed
in costume and filling your bag with special treats?
Simply place a large pumpkin within a bowl, give it a nest of shreded
paper, tie a bow on the stem, and place it all in the center of a tray.
I added more shreded paper to my tray and then lined up my
Lori Mitchell figures that I've added through the years.
The place settings were quick and easy as well!
I started with Courtly Check placemats topped with a second
placemat that is made from a collection of life like leaves; two
are this soft green and the other two are colorful fall shades.

and then pumpkin shaped plates from Michael's.

I had actully seen similar MKC pumpkin plates,
but bought these at Michaels, on sale for 60% off.

I used the same Gourmet Settings flatware as on
yesterday's table for Monday Morning Blooms.
The treble clef motif and the matte black of the handles
fit right in with the leaf placemats and color scheme.

I've also added MKC pieces and
a few pieces of stitch work.
This counted cross stitch on linen
was stitched many years ago.
The whimsy of the MKC crows can't
help but make one smile with delight.
Another super simple and quick idea is
to add fallen tree twig branches to a pretty vase.
I collect them from my yard, so it costs nothing!
Just pop a gourd into a pretty container,
and tie a ribbon around the stem.

There is only one word for your table setting----spectacular! I love the combo of the black and white checkered cloths and the black and white striped dishes topped off with the little pumpkins and the other orange touches. Thanks so much for sharing- love it.

ReplyDeleteYour table is a superb understatement of a Halloween theme. Your Lori Mitchell collection among the centerpiece are the perfect touch, while the sideboard demanded my opening in a desktop view to take in all the wonderful details! So many special items, and so tastefully set for the perfect Halloween moment. Thank you, Sarah, for always creating such special tablescapes to these hops and yes, I agree that it doesn't always have to be expensive wares that make a statement. Very nicely done here.
This is my first visit to your blog and it won't be my last! I love how you decorate! Everything is placed perfectly. The colors are saying Fall at its best! You are awesome Sarah!

You have pulled it off beautifully. The MKC crows are fantastic along with the acorn napkin rings. Your Denby, Mirage Brown goblets are gorgeous. ReplyDeleteSarah, I love the overhead view of your table and it is by far the best you have put together (in my opinion). I love how you interspersed your fabulous MKC collection in with your other collections which makes for a very beautiful and diverse tablescape. I also like the memories you have from your days of teaching and I remember how I loved the day the teacher chose for a craft project for each Holiday. Sigh...I guess it is a sign I am getting older as I reminisce a lot lately. Blessings Always Kari @ Me and My Captain
ReplyDeleteHello Sarah. I love the above shot of your table, it is beautiful. The centerpiece is perfect and easy assembly makes it more perfect! The big crow is surveying for treats, I sure hope he was mannerly. The Halloween Trick or Treaters are too cute. I do have many fond memories of going door to door! The place settings are Ideal for Halloween. How fun to add black plates from Dollar Store, I love mixing inexpensive with finer pieces. The MKC beaded acorn napkin rings are charming. The buffet complements the table perfectly. The whimsical MKC crows make me smile and the cross stitch reminds me of all the ones I did so many years ago. Happy Autumn!

I also like the twigs in your vase with the cute Halloween ornament. That is such a simple yet adorable idea. I also love your simple pumpkin centerpiece idea. ReplyDeleteSarah, your table is just lovely. The centerpiece is darling with the crow-topped pumpkin sitting in a nested bowl of shredded surrounded by the Halloween Trick or Treaters. The plate stack is a work of art and I too thought that the pumpkin plates were MKC. Your crow collection on the dining buffet is just so much fun and I love all the cute black cat ornaments as well. The cross stitched pieces are beautiful and the cookies look delicious. You must have had fun putting this wonderful table together. Happy fall and happy October!
ReplyDeleteSarah, I was awed by your layered tablescape with various patterns, colors and textures. I loved the double placemats and mixture of black and white checks, plaid and stripes with each one having a subtle effect on the other and draws more interest. It is really evident in the black and white striped pumpkin plates against the buffalo checkered napkins. The whimsical items are so charming, especially the crow. He is so fun. And your cross stitch and items on your buffet are such a vintage theme. So fun and full of whimsy. Happy Halloween.

ReplyDeleteI love that you were gifted many fun Halloween pieces from the children you taught. They and their parents had great taste! Your cross stitch on linen reminded me of the days I cross stitched the days away! I loved doing it, and probably still would if I sat down long enough lol. I always enjoy taking in all the details of your decor. You could have published a book on tablescapes long ago!

I like the way you kept things simple for the centerpiece with the pumpkin in the bowl surround by all those adorable Halloween figures. I love your fearless mix of things in the plate stacks too. You always go the extra mile Sarah, with your sideboard decorated to match! Who knew a bunch of twigs in a vase could look so good, and hanging Halloween things on them creating a Halloween tree is brilliant!
