Blackberry Cobbler ~ 2020 Quarantine

In the midst of 2020 Quarantine life,
I find myself in the kitchen baking most days.

We are in the routine of shopping frequently as my foodie Chef
considers trips to the grocery entertainment.
Now with online shopping for curbside or delivery, we find we
often end up with extra amounts of food on hand, thus the baking!

I recently made Ree Drummond's Blackberry Cobbler
with an abundance of blackberries we had from
curbside grocery orders.

The recipe made enough to fill a loaf pan and individual ramekins.
We like mostly berries, so I filled the pans with a
small amount of batter, and then added lots of berries.
Blackberry Cobbler recipe found here.

Spring here in Austin, is one of the most
pleasant times of the year.
My morning begins with hot tea or
coffee and a bite to eat.

I fix a tray and take it out to the terrace
where I can enjoy the spring greens of the garden
and the sound of birds singing to each other.

At times I like a hint of brown sugar to sweeten my tea,
and I add a touch of fresh cream to the cobbler.

 I've made plenty and would
love to have you join me.

I'm happy to share!

By the way, The Chef seems to like that
his wife has returned to baking.

Stay safe and stay healthy, and do a little baking!

  1. Blackberry cobbler is one of my absolute favorites! your pottery ramekins and tea set are so fun that you'd just have to start the day off with a big smile. Somehow baking always puts me in a good mood. If you have any left I'll be right down!

  3. Dearest Sarah,
That sure is a delicious Blackberry Cobbler!
The recipe is more like my French Gaufre, which I use over and over.
No doubt your Chef likes to see you active in the kitchen too and you are very creative in serving it stylish for takeout on the terrace.
    Hugs and stay safe!

  4. That looks delicious. We are still COLD here. With wind chill this morning we are at 19°. Nothing has greened up here yet so we can't sit outside. However, my oven is in great working order--not sure if that is a good thing,or not. lol Have a great day- stay safe! Diana

  6. I am craving cobbler now and my husband would love it. You are inspiring me. Actually, on my walks I am seeing lots of dewberries growing but right now my back would not allow me to pick berries.
You have styled your tray beautifully and I so love all your MKC pieces. So refreshing to think about your morning breakfast on your terrace.

  8. There is something about baking that makes things seem right in the world...your blackberry cobbler sounds divine and I'm drooling over the MKC ramekins and teapot. Your morning routine sounds delightful Sarah, sipping and noshing with the birds!

  9. Thanks for the chuckle Sarah! I'm glad the chef is entertained by trips to the food store :-) My youngest sister feels the same! There is something about baking and creating that makes me feel more productive now that I am working from home. I went from being busy as a bee at the office, to working in my jammies if I want to. I feel very fortunate to be able to work from home at this time. You have styled your tray beautifully, and I know it makes you smile just like it does me. The cobbler is going to the top of my baking list! Sandra Lee shared her favorite smoothie and a quick bread recipe yesterday on Facebook on her newest segment with Today Show. Both of those items are next on my list. Have a good day! Deb

The ramekins are just perfect for a serving and especially to take outside. I love walking outside and looking at my plants in the early morning. 12. Sarah,

You have a beautiful presentation always. They say we eat with our eyes first.

I love every berry out there. Not warm enough to do much outside yet in NJ. I can't wait to enjoy some flowers.

  14. Sarah, I had been doing a lot of baking too but the scales are telling my hubby he has to cut back on sugar. So, I have backed off the baking quite a bit. Your cobbler looks wonderful and I would certainly enjoy joining you. I never sip tea in the mornings, only coffee. But tea agrees with me the rest of the day. I would love for your mild weather to come up our way. It is still too cold to sit out on the deck. Stay well!

  17. It's so good to see you! And yes, I would love to join you, too, Sarah. The cobbler looks delicious! I've been baking, too. I could bring madeleines or lemon bread to the party! I love the teapot and the cobbler bowls. It will be awhile before we can dine on the patio so I'll live vicariously on yours. I worry about my blog friends when I haven't seen a post in awhile, so I'm very happy to see you today.

  24. I would love to join you on your pretty terrace. I feel the same way about spring here in Victoria. The weather is so beautiful. I too love to hear the birds singing. My next door neighbor and I both feed them, and it sounds like a bird sanctuary in our gardens. I love blackberries, and must try this cobbler. Love your pretty flatware too!
