Hello 2019

HELLO 2019!

We rang in the New Year
quietly here at home.

A bottle of our favorite champagne was chilled, and
we popped the cork as the clock struck midnight.

How did you welcome in the New Year?

Have you given thought to
what will be in 2019?

Later, on our morning walk, Sadie reminded me,
"It's the first of January and time to turn over a new leaf!"

She thinks more walks around
the neighborhood is a good goal.

~ 2019 ~
I've given lots of thought this past week as to
what's on the horizon for me this year.

I intend to turn over a new leaf with my needlepoint habit.
There are many WIP in my stitching basket that need my attention.
Each of these Christmas pieces are so close to being completed.
2019 is the year!!!

I picked up these three petite hearts at a local thrift.
They were too cute and too inexpensive to pass up.
Hopefully they will be stitched in time for Valentine 2020.

An avid stitcher friend suggests I thread up three needles
and at least stitch that every day.  I'm currently at work on these.
So far I've stitched everyday this year and fully intend to
have these darling eggs finished for my Easter basket come April.

Reading more is another focus for the year ahead.
I've become too lax about spending time reading on
line instead of reaching for good literature.
That is about to change, starting with Kate Williams'
AMBITION AND DESIRE, THE DANGEROUS LIFE OF JOSEPHINE BONAPARTE.
A fan of historical fiction, I'm enchanted!
What is on your reading list?

That brings me to Hyacinths for the Soul.
I began HFTS in 2009 as a creative outlet in my retirement.
HFTS has brought me much joy these past nine years, mostly
because of the amazing friendships formed along the way.
I hope to continue this creative process, but like many,
I find myself blogging less and sharing more often on IG.
In between blog posts, you can find me on Instagram as SJPA48.
Hope to see you there as well.

Let's all count the bubbles and let 2019 sparkle!

Thank you to Nancy Thomas Gallery for allowing
me to share this clever annimation.

  3. I have big plans for 2019 to purge big and streamline living! There will definitely be less time for blogging, but visiting friends virtually is the next best thing to visiting in real life. Cheers to our goals!

  4. Sarah, you definitely brought in the New Year in beautiful fashion! I am a fan of needlepoint, but I never learned. Maybe that could be one of my goals for 2019. I am an avid reader and historical fiction is my favorite. This book should be on my reading list for the year. Wishing you all the best in 2019!

  9. Your resolutions are similar to mine Sarah, draw everyday, finish the needlepoint Mardi Gras jester I started last year, finish the baby blanket I'm crocheting for a friend that got lost during the holidays, and reading more! I do love historical fiction, I must check out your book! Happy 2019!

  10. What a grand beginning to the new year! You remind me of how much I loved needlepoint; I may have to begin again. And I just posted my reading list a few posts down. Or rather, last year's! Onward to more books!

I hope you don't quit blogging entirely. I do love your space and visiting here and never go to instagram. Not enough personality for me. Happiest of new years!

  15. Hi Sarah, The only thing I've decided on for 2019 is reading the Bible 5 days a week. You have some good challenges ahead. A very Happy New Year to you!

  16. Sarah - we spent NYE with our daughter and her boyfriend at a speakeasy-themed party that was a fundraiser for her employer, a small theatre in Cincinnati. It was a blast! I have some ideas for 2019 goals, but haven't really finalized anything. I could definitely buy into your stitching goal! By the way, I have always used PicMonkey for my collages, and I still do - I am not sure what you are experiencing in the way of changes? Thanks for linking up to Mosaic Monday with a golden touch!

  17. Dearest Sarah,
We too had a quiet New Year's Eve with only a small bottle of Heidsieck champagne.
Wish that this year I finally could start reading more; love to do that but stil so much to be done.
First to chronicle our trips so Pieter continues to enjoy reading them. Also I have to make our videos digital... still decluttering the 'old' formats and trying to update. Slides were the first I managed, then the negatives (still some old ones left to look over) and all photo albums. Writing the stories to the photos from our special trips is the easy part.
Need to get back to biking as well, due to my tutoring since August I've not found the time for doing so...
Sending you hugs and wishing you and the Chef a happy 2019 and the same for Sadie girl!

  18. Sarah, Happy New Year, my friend. I'm so glad to see that you will continue to blog. So many are going the other way, I guess. I can't imagine quitting, I just love to do it. I love the writing, the photography, and the dear friends I have made. I love that little girl's wish to turn over new leaves, I'm with her. We went to bed at 10:00 and slept right through the new year. Celebrating before was just as good. Too old for any other way..Happy Monday..xxoJudy

  19. Happy New Year, Sarah. We brought 2019 in quietly at home, too, with a cheese fondue and some lovely Riesling, but we were in bed asleep before the year turned.
Many bloggers, including me, are also on Instagram, but I don't find it as chatty or friendly as blogging, so I won't be giving it up any time soon.
Sadie has the right idea about getting outdoors as much as possible.

  23. Happy New Year dear Sarah! Love your pretty New Year's vignette. Like you we had a bottle of champagne but I was not feeling the NY's spirit and we went to bed early saving it for a healthier day. Can't believe the year has turned over already, seems last year went by in a flash. I plan to find more time for reading, something I love to do but lately can't find a lot of time. Looking to a more healthy lifestyle with recipes, walks and more sleep! Hope 2019 is a happy and healty one for you and M............Love.

  27. Reading more is on my list of personal goals for 2019 - I have a tall stack off books next to my bed.

  30. My blog will be 9 in May! I agree I blog a lot less than I used to. So glad to be part of TTT because it gets me doing it more. Life just seems so busy and Instagram is so easy although I took a break from it too. Hugs and love the stitchery!
