Thanksgiving Eve ~ 2017

"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into
enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity.  It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend."  ~~Melody Beattie

Tomorrow we will celebrate with friends,
but on this Thanksgiving Eve,
I invite you to share a quiet moment
to remember all for which you are grateful.
The following is a look back at a simple evening
spent here at home, just the two of us.

  21. Your table is so pretty and your advice to slow down is so appropriate for this time od year when one hears "Black Friday" more than one hears "Thanksgiving". I hope your holiday weekend is as lovely as this post.

  24. This table setting is beautiful. Your message is as well. I am curious about your napkin rings and flatware. Vintage bakelite or ? Honestly your collections always evoke feelings of history and elegance. Have a peaceful holiday season.

    1. Kathy, thank you for your visit and thoughtful comment. The flatware and napkin rings are what the French refer to as French Ivory. It is a celluoid with silver accents. I much enjoy living with vintage things. Happy Holidays to you.

  28. This was our first Thanksgiving in our new state and without family. Our neighbors graciously invited us over - so thankful! In the future, I can see many "Thanksgiving for two", and I hope to do it as tastefully as you have.

  32. Dearest Sarah,
LOVE the quote at the top of your page and have used it on my Pinterest with link to your blog!
    Yes, Gratitude is so important.
Compliments to your Chef for the delicious looking turkey breast!
We're thankful for every day that God grants us to be together.
Pieter calls it, living in over time...
With our best friends we had a lovely Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday before Thanksgiving and just a quiet Thanksgiving for the two of us.
I've completed part of our Memoirs, our trips together (not as a tourist but for work!) and this time was about South Africa. Pieter enjoyed reading the chapters so far; more are scheduled, every 4 days.
That's all what counts, wanting to let him re-live our best years together and hoping that God will grant him some over-time together with me.
    Hugs,
    Mariette
