"Delicious autumn!
My very soul is wedded to it,
and if I were a bird I would fly about
the earth seeking the successive autumns."
George Eliot
Today we close the door on my favorite season
and give way to the rush of holiday
fever as we welcome December.
delightful Thanksgiving with family and friends.
Thanksgiving at our home was truly just that!
We hosted a much smaller group than usual,
Thanksgiving at our home was truly just that!
but the afternoon was one of the best.
The chef prepared a non-traditional meal.
Roasted Vegetable Slaw
Garlic Tart
Potatoes Dauphinoise
Lemon Meringue Pie
a beautiful table is a priority for me.
This year's Thanksgiving table was set for four.
No linen tablecloth, just simple woven reed
chargers atop the bare wood of the table
to add texture to our crisp white wedding china.
I topped each with one of Juliska's Harvest Country Estate
dessert plates to give some added color
and removed them for serving dessert later.
Mini bouquets the colors of autumn,
wrapped in burlap, and tied with ribbon
paraded down the center of our table
and were gratitude gifts for our
two guest to take home.
We ended our meal with
sweet treats, a fitting goodbye to
Delicious Autumn!

The filet looks wonderful, and I am coveting your beautiful Juliska! The country estate in ruby, jardins du monde, and field of flowers are my favorites! It looks like you had a lovely day!
ReplyDeleteI am another one sad to see autumn turn to winter...I love the rich colors of autumn.
ReplyDeleteYour Juliska plates are so pretty sitting on the white china with green peeking through.
Have a wonderful week, Sarah.
Sarah, what a lovely table you set! And my father, for one, would have been pleased indeed with your elegant non-turkey menu.
ReplyDeleteSarah:
ReplyDeleteI think your meal sounds fabulous and all these photos were lovely. Cute turkey too!
Wow...your meal looks amazing! My family would be thrilled with that meal. Yum.
ReplyDeleteI love the menu! The garlic tarts have me intrigued as well as the slaw. Recipes? ;-)
ReplyDeleteYour table is beautiful, the bouquets as well and how special they were offered to your guests! I'm hoping to do a very low key Christmas dinner, I am exhausted!!!
Many warm wishes to you as we begin the holiday season with gusto!

Hi Sarah, Yes, we must say goodbye to November and welcome December. Although Winter isn't until the 21st I believe. I'll be decorating for Christmas in a couple of weeks.

Sarah, love the table setting. You know how I love all Juliska patterns and the color of the Harvest Country Estate is perfect for autumn. The chef's menu is fabulous, love the filet with glaze and your desert must have been delicious! I am up early here while the family is sleeping and needing rest after much touch football in the backyard on a glorious Thanksgiving. Your day sounds wonderful.
ReplyDeleteHugs………...
It all looks so lovely & welcoming, Sarah. I think your hubby should start his own FOOD BLOG!!! Would love to know exactly HOW he roasted that slaw...flavors? sauce? marinade?
ReplyDeleteThat meal makes my mouth water just looking at it & your tablescape is simply lovely. I've not seen those Harvest Country Estate plates before or at least, I can't remember them. They are beautiful & so apropo for autumn.

Your chef prepared a delicious meal, Sarah! You two make the perfect pair, since he enjoys the cooking and you love doing the table decor. I love your choice of dishes and seeing the beautiful wood of the table. I'm sure everyone had a relaxing, wonderful time. Yes, and now we're on to the next season.
ReplyDeleteAn absolutely lovely table. And, I love the idea of the centerpiece being made of components that go home with the guests. What a terrific idea! Thanks for sharing. Rosie @ The Magic Hutch

I was kinda craving turkey but now that I have had it for 3 days in a row, your meal looks so delicious. I would love to know more about those garlic tarts! Lovely table and it is just as fun with few as it is with a crowd. We had 3 of us!
ReplyDeleteYour meal looked and sounded wonderful! Oh I know it's time to say goodbye to Fall but the leaves are still so pretty that I haven't been able to. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteSarah,
ReplyDeletePut me on your Thanksgiving guest list please. The filet mignon looks divine!

I'm not a turkey lover so your menu sounds wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to the Christmas in Texas party.
What beautiful pictures to say a loving farewell to my beautiful Autumn. Your menu and your table are excellent!
ReplyDeleteLove the plates! :) I can't wait for Stacey's party. I like Texas bloggers best! ;P
ReplyDeleteWe went out on Black Friday to get signed copies of books at Barnes and Noble. Because we are nerds…..and no one was at the pretty mall, like no one! We went to a few sales since NO ONE was there, and I knocked-out most of my Christmas shopping. I have no idea where the shoppers were, but it sure was convenient for me!
