"Spring" by Nancy Thomas
A whimsical piece that hangs in our upstairs sunroom.
Spring in central Texas has taken
its time, but I think it has finally arrived.
As our days are longer and warmer,
I find myself out in the garden.
Bird songs echo from trees above
as birds call out in search of a mate.

I took my table-setting out
to the garden among the flowers.
This cute little bird on a cage
is meant to hold a votive.
I repurposed it as a vase and filled it
with hydrangea blooms for the garden tray.
With the nesting theme in mind,
I pulled out a set of plates with a twiggy border.
The plates are by Jeremie.
They are oval shape with a textured twig border.

These spring time napkins were a thrifty find
at Tuesday Morning. I bought a dozen for
less than the original price of a set of four.
Vintage napkin ring
with a sterling "B" for bird
and silver mother of pearl flatware.
Couldn't resist this cute little dish.
It's perfect for serving
savory flakes of Lemon Sea Salt.

ReplyDeleteSarah, I would love to dine in your garden! We are also spending more time outside working in the garden and hoping all the perennials come back after the extra-cold winter we've had. I love the plates you chose -- so pretty! And what a find those napkins were! I love a score like that.

Such a pretty spring table! I'm loving the pastels. Thanks for your sympathy at missing photos at LaurieAnna's. It really was a thrill, and I hope I got that across! We spent a rainy weekend visiting family in Dallas. We usually fly, but had furniture to deliver. It was nice having a little room to bring back goodies. Have a lovely weekend my dear!

ReplyDeleteEnjoy your spring, I know what Texas summers are. My grandmother and cousins live in the Dallas area.
Sarah,
ReplyDeleteLove your Birds, Eggs, Nests print and the outdoor table setting...
Just when we think warm weather is here to stay, along comes a norther. Tomorrow night's low...34°....brrr...
We spent last Friday, 4/11, in Ennis on the Bluebonnet Trail, and the flowers were in peak bloom covering field after field. Ennis is only 40-50 minutes from us and bluebonnets were all along the Hwy 287 roadside. We took this little day trip instead of traveling south to Austin/San Marcos.

Three of my favorite things for spring....birds, eggs, and nests. I love the twig bordered plates. Everything is lovely.
