An Apple For The Teacher

Although many schools in Texas begin
a new school year in late August,
I always associate September with

sweet and tart and good to eat.

hang from branches overhead,
and when they ripen, down they drop,
so we can taste our apple crop.

  4. Sarah, Your beautiful apple plate caught my eye immediately when the link come up on the party list. It is amazing! I clicked over to see the Rainbow Gate website and spent some time exploring all their pieces! Thanks for the link. And your other table elements are also wonderful. That quilt is gorgeous! 5. What a gorgeous and clever tablescape, Sarah- it really looks awesome.

I grew up on an island on the Great Lakes - and we never EVER started school until after Labor Day due to so many making their livelihood in the vacation industry - would be cutting a huge portion of money making for so many...........so I too shall forever think of apples and autumn for Back to School time, too!

  12. I didn't participate this time, but I am enjoying visits to the apple tables. I tend to associate apples with back to school too, probably because of my years in the classroom. I love that plate your class gave you. It's so different from the "usual".

  13. Sarah, your class had impeccable taste to gift you with that beautiful apple plate. The PB chargers have been on my wish list. Of course the apple pie couldn't look any prettier on the MC pedestal. Love the quilt. xo

  14. Sarah - you had me at the quilt with this one. I love it!! Of course, who would not want to take that fabulous apple plate home, as well? You did a wonderful job of showcasing apples, but also reminding all of the former teachers about the joys of the first days of school. Sometimes, I miss teaching pre-school with all of the adorable children and, then, I remember all of the work - lol!!

  21. What a wonderful thought to honor teachers everywhere with the apple theme! I love the apple dish on the plain plate. That wire charger matches a couple of things I have. I wish I would have gotten those back when they made them at PB. Something about the quilts gives these tables so much warmth and coziness!
I was reading the poetry. Last week when we were picking up pumpkins and corn stalks a rotten apple fell before us- we were grateful it didn't land on one of us!!

  22. Gorgeous table, Sarah! I love the salad plate against the tartan plate, atop the quilt! I like the way you tucked the knife and fork into the napkin ring. Cute cake stand.
    Have a wonderful week...

  23. This is wonderful, Sarah! That quilt is just perfect for your color scheme -- and for the other checks you've included -- and the apple plate holds such sentimental value! What a wonderful gift for a beloved teacher!

  24. Sarah, I love everything - the quilt is beautiful. I have always coveted those chicken wire chargers, but I've been too cheap to buy them. Love the red plaid charger, and that halved apple plate is unique. Then, you added that MC cake plate with the apple pie on top. Can't get much better than that. laurie
