We hosted this party with a group of friends

Though catered, everything about this
casual dinner party would be easy to replicate.

Yummo! We love our mexican food!! I took a hospitality class at our church once and they told us when you serve a buffet, put the veggies before the meat. The meat is more expensive and people will fill their plates with the less expensive parts first. I thought that was pretty clever.
ReplyDeleteI love the Mexican pottery dishes and I love fresh salsa and tortilla chips until they come out my ears. A Mexican buffet is a great idea for a wedding party.
ReplyDeleteWOW does this ever look GOOD! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the Mexican pottery dishes Sarah and the serape is the perfect foundation for a fiesta! Your menu looks delicious, having it catered makes it so much easier to enjoy!
ReplyDeleteSarah, oh my goodness that food looks wonderful. Thanks for dropping by my blog today and commenting on Betty and Jim's trellis to hide the neighbor's air conditioners. Hope to see you again soon,
ReplyDeleteHelen

ReplyDeleteOle' "¡Ándale! ¡Ándale! ¡Arriba! ¡Arriba! Now Yo quiero Taco Bell"
ReplyDeleteThat is about all the Spanish I know, but I KNOW I would looove the food on this buffet. What a fun way to throw a party! I never even considered doing something like this but I do know of a local place that would. THANKS for the idea...maybe for DD's birthday. Hmmmm...
Always inspired by you,
Rett
I loved the whole thing..those dishes were wonderful. Wondering where you could find something like that. And the table topper..perfect. I need to earmark this post for future reference...everything looks just perfect for a Mexican theme dinner!
ReplyDeleteSarah, the dishes are fabulous.. food and plates. I have some of those bowls that were my husband's grandmother's. I need to use them more frequently is all I am about to say. Shame on me for keeping them "put up"! The food looks amazing. So many great tips for a buffet. Didn't do a table this week, so much going on... have a blessed weekend. xo marlis
ReplyDeleteA Mexican food buffet would be my first pick! I agree about the centerpiece too. You seem to be often at the center of wonderful times! Bravo!
ReplyDeleteMexican food is one of my go to menus when doing a party by myself. So easy to prepare and organize...and those serape blankets always tell the whole story, don't they? Thanks for inviting us for a delicious peak. Cherry Kay
ReplyDeleteI am hosting a Mexican themed party in August for an engaged couple, thanks for the inspirations!

HOLA SARAH! Now this is a fun twist, and my heritage! Oh dear, can I remember the tamales; I think our sense of taste and smell have the strongest memory sensors! My husband is of Puerto-Rican heritage and having both cuisines in my life makes for delicious parties!
ReplyDeleteColorful, happy and sweet memories are your images for me today. When I first moved out here to the Twin Cities, we found a Mexican American community in St. Paul. The first thing we did was walk into one of the MERCADOS and the smell of the PAN DULCE made me weep my eyes out; it made me think of my daddy, who used to bring home sweet bread every day after work.
Thank you so much for coming to visit my post, and for your support in my writing. I do so want to publish one day.
Have a glorious day! Anita

ReplyDeleteLooks so good I want to lick the computer screen! :-)
ReplyDeleteMuy bueno!
ReplyDeleteThe relatives are always asking me to make them an authentic "New Mexican" meal- which is a bit different than "Mexican." I have to order my chile from back home, both red and green, and I end up using every pot and pan in the kitchen to create all my dishes! I'm certain your guests truly enjoyed your meal and the celebration. The buffet looked scrumptious. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh my! I've never seen so much delicious food. I love the sound of every single dish you served. I am trying to learn how to make for Mexican food and I think I've just about mastered guacamole.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this at the Say G'day Saturday linky party, Sarah! I'm so thrilled that you joined in.
Best wishes for a wonderful weekend,
Natasha in Oz
