We're not Irish, but I've set a festive table
in honor of St. Patrick's Day next Sunday.
I pulled out some shamrock linens.
Set our places with a stack of green and white.
Alternated Bordallo Pinheiro Cabbage Leaf
with Wedgwood Nantucket Basket
with Wedgwood Nantucket Basket
Added my favorite vintage flatware.
~ Silver and French Ivory ~
Topped each stack with
these cute ceramic cup cakes.
I found them at
TJ Max a few years ago.

They are the work
of Heather Goldminc.

I scattered in a few sparkly
shamrocks in among my bowl of hearts.
Picked up one of those lucky shamrock plants
at the grocery today and planted it in
a vintage ironstone sugar bowl.
This is the mark on the sugar bowl.
I bought it in the fields at
Round Top Antique Week several years ago.
Can anyone help me date this piece?
Update:
Diane @ Confessions of the Obsessed and
Marigene @ In the Middle of Nowhere
did a little research and found that the sugar bowl is dated
January 14, 1853.
Thanks, friends!

The Shamrock Plant is actually an Oxalyis.
I'll keep this one as a house plant.
I treat the pink Oxalyis that
grows wild in my garden as a weed.
It's a nuisance!

Have a very happy St. Patrick's Day, Sarah! TI love the festive ceramin cupcakes and that sugar bowl is very unique and pretty. It looks nice holding the Oxyalis shamrock look alike plant.
ReplyDeleteYour Sadie dog is adorable -- what a sweet face!
Thanks for the alert about One Kings lane. I ahve become quite adicted to Zulily lately as it offers so many cute children's clothes.
Sarah, I love all of your Irish pieces. Those ceramic cupcakes are adorable. I am a crazy-obsessed research person and I looked up your mark on the Wedgwood sugar bowl. According to the English registry mark on the bowl, I believe it was made on January 14, 1853. Hope this helps! You can find the information in either of the Kovel's books on marks. Happy St. Pat's!!
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Sarah! I visited you yesterday but I cannot find my comment. I love this! Those ceramic cupcakes are just the cutest and love the sugar container used as a planter for your centerpiece. Sorry can't help you on info about it.Going to OneKingsLane now! Thanks for the heads up....Christine
ReplyDeleteThat was fun! I am drooling over your flatware, and the plant is adorable, but the pooch is the best!
ReplyDeleteJenna
Good Morning!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous table! The white Oxalyis is so pretty! But I have a confession....I love my PINK!! I try to cultivate it because it has been such a huge part of my life...in every house I've ever lived, I taken some of the pinks with me and transplanted them. Therefore, I still have plants from the original way back from when my sons were little boys!
Thank you so much for sharing your lovely greens with us for my party this week!!!
Blessings,
Doni
Your ceramic cupcakes are so cute!! And that cute little face of your "one year old" is so sweet!
ReplyDeleteSarah,

What I really liked was your adorable furbaby! I can see why you are smitten. Thank you for dropping by my blog this week and have a great afternoon.
ReplyDeleteSarah, I really enjoyed your post. Love everything! the linens, flowers, dishes, little ceramic cupcakes. What a wonderful table!

Such a pretty table & tray! I love the cupcakes...they are so cute!
ReplyDeleteLove your shamrock plant and shamrock shortbread. I haven't seen any shamrock shortbread in my area. Your cabbage plates are great. Wish I had some.
ReplyDeleteI like my purple oxylis plant in my garden. It adds a pop of color and I enjoy it popping up in another location as a surprise. I guess when it gets aggressive I may feel differently but so far it is a slow grower.
Your St Patrick's day table setting is so pretty! I love the shamrock in the sugar bowl! And shortbread and tea sound perfect to me!
ReplyDeleteWhat a darling table for a "non Irish" - you did a lovely job! Thanks for linking to Open House.
ReplyDeleteThere's a little bit of Irish in all of us at this time of year, I think. Like you, I like to find a little shamrock plant as a centrepiece to go with the daffodils that are so plentiful at this time of year.
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Down Under Sarah! How are you??? I just had to pop by and say hello as I'm back from my extended bloggy break! I hope you have been well-you have obviously been busy with new sweet friend-what a cutie!

Hi Sarah, I visited you a few days ago, then got lost at the OKL link so I'm back now to tell you what a beautiful table you have set. I always love seeing some of your hearts! Your precious pot of gold has the sweetest little face---she must bring you so much joy. Don't you just love the Nantucket Basket? I think it is the best set of white dishes ever. We use ours for everyday dishes and I never tire of them. Your sugar bowl was an amazing find! And it looks wonderful with the shamrocks. I don't plant any in my yard because to me they look beautiful as house plants but like weeds in the garden! Enjoy your weekend! Linda
ReplyDeleteYou may not be Irish, Sarah, but you celebrate St. Patrick's Day in great style. Your table is beautiful with all its touches of green. Love your little ceramic cup cakes.
ReplyDeleteLovely! ty Sarah, for visiting me at FHC and inviting me for cookies!

Everything looks so festive! Love the pot your shamrock is planted in. I'm with you though, that Oxalyis is much more beautiful than the stuff that tries to kill our lawn!

I wish I had some of the pink Oxalis. I love it and would keep it as a house plant. We don't get it up here...at least not that I have ever seen. What a sweet little dog you have. I borrow my mother's chocolate lab Sally when I am feeling the need for being with a dog..I keep her for a few days and then I bring her back. She loves it here with us but my mum would miss her terrible if we kept her too long.
ReplyDeleteHi sweet Sarah! Thank you for popping in to see me and I'm sure you'll have those bunnies hopping soon.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia :)
Hello Sarah, LOVE this! I'm Irish and on St. Patrick's Day - everyone is honorary Irish! You always do a fantastic job in your tablescapes - I do appreciate you sharing with Home and Garden Thursday,

Maybe describe it on Google...sometimes you can find it through "images".
