The Silver Lining of Thrifting

It's no secret.

There is definitely a silver lining

to shopping the thrift stores.

This tall, slender beauty was a recent

thrifty find at a small local shop of vintage goods.

It inspired me to gather my group of silver teapots.

~ Each A Thrifty Find Gathered Over Time ~

With their hinged lids kicked back . . .

I added fresh greens and

red berries for the holidays.

A nice compliment to . . .

The details of each teapot.

For the New Year they each

hold winter white Baby's Breath.

The delicate bouquets don't distract from

the graceful lines and wonderful details.

But rather offer a contrast to

elements such as ebony handles . . .

Or those wrapped with rattan.

Rings of Petite Bead Work

Simple Bands

Long Elegant Spouts

Stouter Ones Layered With Detail

Simple Lines

Or Elaborate Detail

Each offers its own charm . . .

Sitting atop a tray with charm all its own.

Have you found any "silver lining" in your local thrifts?

  1. How beautiful. I've been looking at silver in the thrift stores because I'd like to make a little silver teapot lamp. I haven't found the perfect shape yet.

  2. Hi Sarah,
oh my, this is just the kind of thrifting goods, I adore. I didn't find something like this. Depending on the high silver prices, peoples earn here more when they give their silver heritages for parting the silver. This is really a pitty. Thank you for shwoing this shiny collection.
    Have a great day, Johanna

  3. Sarah~ What a gorgeous collection of silver teapots! I'm afraid I don't have much success thrifting. I do NOT need to collect anything else but it would be hard to pass these beauties up! I love all their unique & gorgeous details :)

  4. Vilka underbart vackra kannor!

  8. Sarah,
YES! My recent silver tray...but it took hours to bring it back to the rare beauty that it once was and is again. The detailing on each of these pots is truly a work of art! I do adore how you "dress" them up and yet allow their true beauty to shine, as well! Thank you for sharing this marvelous collection. Also, for reminding us that our homes can be filled with lovely items for less!
    Fondly,
    Pat

  17. I love the way you have re-purposed your silver coffee servers, pitchers, and teapots. I've noticed that there is much less silver in the local thrift shops, here. In fact there have been less and less good things being donated to all the shops I visit.
Isn't Baby's Breath wonderful to decorate with?

  27. Sarah, Your silver collection is gorgeous and such a great variety of styles. They all have so much detail. I'm afraid the 'silver lining' at our local thrift stores, has become 'thin'. Thanks for sharing your beautiful pieces. I like the Baby's Breath for Winter.

Grouped together with greenery and berries on the tray makes such a beautiful vignette. I love the details, the wreath and bow are my favorites. I really love white Baby's Breath and silver. I often think that is why they end up at the thrift shops. I am looking for a rectangle silver tray
to put candles on. How nice that somebodies give-a-way is sombody elses treasure.
    Sending you warm hugs, Evi
